Explain to me why it is so fantastic again?

The first problem I ran into was the code not being excepted the first 3 times.

Then it forces me to make another profile in order to activate the account. Not giving me the choice of putting all my hard earned work onto my already existing profile that I have had for 2 years. Thus, making all my work for nothing, and complicating everything.

Finally I decided to give up the fight after I call customer service and find out that there is NO way to transfer my achievements, gamerpoints, or anything to my other profile.

After that fiasco I finally decide to just enjoy online. The chat is fuzzy and halfway inaudible. And all the games functions to make an online match are practically the same as on PSN!

Then I decide to check out the store, it's contents are weak, lacking, and the "news" is outdated by at least a couple of weeks. The screens are confusing and cluttered with no real sight of organization. And I spent a $150 bucks for this?

So please, explain to me what constitutes the huge price tag? And why is it that Microsoft feels the need to make things as difficult as possible to maneuver, contact, and deal with? To go on PSN which is free and doesn't have cross game chatting it was as easy as; put in email, put in username, do you want to put on a credit card, and go at the store. I would have much rather gotten all of the free content, less clutter, and ability to KEEP MY CONTENT FROM BEFORE GOING ONLINE. I mean really this is beyond ridiculous and Microsoft acts like you can't live or shouldn't have had the console without LIVE. They need to get their act together about this whole thing.

You sound like a MS/360/Live hater. So that is why your probably extaggerating all of your problems.

Anyways Live is better because it's easier to use, more people talk, Party chat/ Private Chat, 1 Vs. 100. Yeah probably not worth the $50 a year however you got to remember back to the very start when PSN was a pile of poo and Live was still awesome. That was when it was really worth it for Live, and I still find it to be worth it.

BUT the guys at the 360 board couldn't help me with this but maybe you could. If I was to change my gamertag to my current one from "Hub731" to "Hub119" would all my data be eligible to be transferred?

That's not really that much.. and I would argue that PSN is easier to use, although it seems to be only me who finds it easier.

No. Also....

You did not spend $150 on Live.

If you couldnt get the "code" right, then thats operator error.

If your Chat and online play is bad, maybe its your internet connection and not live

The store contents are not "weak and Lacking". Content is robust on Xbox live. I don't beleive that you have it, if you do, you used it for about 2 minutes

Ive never had any of the problems your complaining about, especially problems with voice chat.Voice chat works great on the 360 were as ive had nothing but problems talking with people on psn.Im not a psn hater or anything but xbox live really works better in my opinion.I pay for live simply because it works better and i have a larger amount of friends to play with on it.Psn has gotten better over the years and isnt a terrible service considering that its free.Anyone that says psn is better than live just arent being honest.

Actually, you didn't need to BUY live to find any of this out. You can connect to the store and chat with friends and send messages and access news feeds all for free. If you had been prudent and connected to Live as an XBL Silver member before buying your "$150 Subscription" you would have discovered that you wouldn't have been able to use your current profile name as your gamertag, considering that someone PROBABLY ALREADY HAS IT. And frankly, it's your fault for spending so much time accumulating save game and achievements if you had access to an internet connection and didn't use it to create a LIVE profile rather than one isolated to your system. Did you really think your profile name was "unique"? All of these inconsistencies - specifically concerning the fact that you leave the process of creating a Silver account out of your entire narrative - call into question the genuineness of your story. Long story short, either 1) You are lying or 2) You are ignorant - and therefore don't deserve pity - for your lack of knowledge of what you can and can't do for free on live.cutmaclass1

Ok then. We can end the thread now. Move along people, nothing left to see here

You've had Xbox Live for all of 2 days and you're passing judgment on it already? Impatient much?

This is exactly what the haters do. Pass judgment as if the difference is going to smack them in the face the moment they log in. Have you participated in any of the community events? Do you have a good-sized friends list yet? And you've barely played anything online. You have nearly no chance to check out the party system, the cross-game invites or the diverse community behind all of it.

I think you probably made up your mind about it way before you spent anything on your Gold subscription.

Incorrect. Did you really speak to someone at CS? You can definitely link a gamertag to a profile. I did it for another account I have. And why on earth didn't you create a silver account when you first got your Xbox? That's beyond me.

After that fiasco I finally decide to just enjoy online. The chat is fuzzy and halfway inaudible. And all the games functions to make an online match are practically the same as on PSN! What are you using? Your packed-in mic? I've had mine for years and it hasn't posed any problems for me. Who are you talking to online? you've had barely enough time to build a friends list, let alone use the mic that much. Two days from what I can tell on your gamertag.

Then I decide to check out the store, it's contents are weak, lacking, and the "news" is outdated by at least a couple of weeks. There really is no news that supposed to be topical. MSNBC has short human interest features. But not news. The New Yorker has just cartoons. There are tips and tricks. Xbox 101. IGN Strategize. Where's this "news" section you're talking about? The screens are confusing and cluttered with no real sight of organization. Don't know what you're talking about. I imagine you're just not used to it. What are you looking for? And I spent a $150 bucks for this? $150? That can't be US dollars. If so, you were horriblly cheated.

"The first problem I ran into was the code not being excepted the first 3 times". -So you are incapable of doing something as simple as keying in a code, and you are blaming this on XBOXLIVE? I think your beaf is with the school system.

"Then it forces me to make another profile in order to activate the account". No. It didn't FORCE you to make another profile, you just screwed it up. I put live on a profile I had used for several years, and nobody else had this problem. So again, it's not XBOXLIVE's fault that you are incapable of doing anything right.

I call customer service and find out that there is NO way to transfer my achievements, gamerpoints, or anything to my other profile." -This is a direct result of your previous stupidity. Why would you be able to transfer achievements gamperpoints etc to other profiles? That would eliminate the reason for being able to create multiple profiles.

The chat is fuzzy and halfway inaudible. And all the games functions to make an online match are practically the same as on PSN. -No, the chat is fine. Do you see any other complaints about the chat? If it was really inaudible, don't you think MS would have done something about it in the last 5 years or so? My guess is your Internet sucks...but if cursing XBOXLIVE makes you feel better, continue and see where that path gets you.

"The screens are confusing and cluttered with no real sight of organization." -Again, a reflection of your stupidity. I think I see a pattern forming here.

In conclusion, you screwed up and didn't follow the instructions. Have a good day.

No, you didn't. If you did, you are exaggerating and making things up, along with purposely looking for negative issues that are not there. You screwed up, you can place Live on the account you had before, you just failed. I did the same, didn't make the same mistake again later with my other account. The chat is fuzzy and halfway inaudible? Lol... That's your mic, hands down, I mean that just sounds like BS, but if it's true it's obviously your mic.

I have both a PS3 and a 360, and the way matches are set up, combined with your friends etc. is pretty different, and I much prefer how XBL does it. The news is most likely outdated because of the holidays, typically it isn't. The content is weak and lacking? Did you even fully explore it? There is unbelievable amounts of content rivaling the PS3 in current-gen content, and even quite a bit from last gen. With your attitude, I find it difficult to believe you actually spent $150, sounds like complete BS.

kingsfan above gave a good outline of how you are definitely not using the service correctly.

I remember when I tried to cancel my xbox live account I had to call support number just to cancel it so they wouldn't renew my account....they didn't have an option to on a website or anything. Pretty much making it intentially annoying for you to cancel the account (which automatically renews btw).

I haven't used Xbox live in a long time so it might be different now. I remember that making me very annoyed.

Xbox live is terrible because you can't surf the internet and you can't play games online without paying 4 bucks a month. And you can't send video messages! Phfft, terrible. Terrible.

You pay the Live Gold fee to gain access to playing your games (you already paid for) online. Otherwise you should have stuck to silver if you are really missing the point.

No, it doesn't force you to make a new account, it makes you create a new gamertag if the one you had originally was taken. I don't know what you mean about chat, everything sounds fine to me. The store content is awesome, tons of old classics, indy arcade games, etc. Oh, wait, you spent $150 on it. I know you're lying now.

PSN isn't as glorious as you think it is either.

My brother beat Grand Theft Auto 4 before setting up a PSN account and when he did he found out there were trophies for the game he could have got but didn't get because he never connected to the internet.

Same with Burnout Paradise.

Explain to me why it is so fantastic again?

The first problem I ran into was the code not being excepted the first 3 times.

2.The chat is fuzzy and halfway inaudible. And all the games functions to make an online match are practically the same as on PSN!

Then I decide to check out the store, it's contents are weak, lacking, and 3. the "news" is outdated by at least a couple of weeks.

They need to get their act together about this whole thing.

xXDante666Xx

1. You did it wrong. You do not have to create a new gamertag to use gold. You can easily upgrade your silver account to a gold and keep all of your achievements.

2. This is what I get on psn, people with cheap bluetooth headsets, echoes, fuzziness, most times it feels as if the people are in tunnels.

3. Better than the "news" being links to the store like on PSN.

$150 is triple the price, therefore either you were foolish to be ripped off for paying triple the cost, or you made it up because you didn't actually get live and you don't know the actual cost of a year subscription to Gold..... Fakeboy activated!

When did $50 a year become a lot ? Unless you're working for $10 an hour (lol), then theres no problem with Live. And what're you talking about making another profile to activate the account ? All I had to do was make one account (AdjacentLives), and bingo Live.

Its not better than psn, not really. And the layout of the store and the nxe does seem cluttered and lacking in organization. I was very disappointed..

360's dashboard does feel a bit clunkerd but live is only 5 bucks a month and when compared to PSN you are right there is minimal difference though you'll have fanboys saying different. I do enjoy the PS3 user interface better and PlayStation store but in terms of downloading things in the background and organization I feel xbox live is a bit better in that aspect.

That's nothing. Going from XBL to Windows Live (360 broken, but at least I can still use my profile for PC gaming...you know, because I buy a game from STEAM! and I still need to have a Live account for certain games), I learned to appreciate Live on consoles...updates are slow, not much of a community, and the marketplace is...lacking. What I'm trying to say is, hey...it could be worse ;).

The chat is fuzzy and halfway inaudible.

And this point you stopped making legitimate concerns and started baseless bashing for the sake of it. "The screens are confusing and cluttered" - in what way? Seriously, just how? :?

I set up mine a few days ago, and it works perfectly. And how exactly did you spend $150 on it?

Outside of cross game chat XBOX Live offers nothing of any real value for me.

If you have spent any real time on XBOX Live you know this to be a blessing and a curse.

It's a good thing there's the mute button and party chat. There's no reason to have to listen to randoms. Luckily, I haven't played with randoms in over two years.

this would be true if we are talking about what comes out of the box, we are not. if that were the case then i could state that i can play online out of the box 360 you have to pay.

That is very far from the truth.
