I was takling about the wii, and nintnedo said they just hit that level of production, so for july I betjust under 1.5 mil will be sold.laughingman42

[QUOTE="laughingman42"][QUOTE="LuvGaming"][QUOTE="Mizuke"]I knew this thread was going to balloon. It's always back to the shipped vs. sold argument.LuvGamingWell the article stated that 5.5 were SOLD and not shipped. Ken K. also admitted that 5.5m PS3's have been sold worldwide. Sony is really the only one that knows how many consoles they've sold worldwide so you can either take their word for it or not. actually they said they shipped 5.5 million and 3.6 mil were sold to retailers. You're talking about something that was stated awhile ago. 6 million PS3's have been shipped worldwide so 4-5 million PS3's sold sounds about right. I'm guessing the editor of the article got his sales number from a Sony PR so w/e.ok lets sayretailers actually sold every single one of those 3.6 million consoles to costomers (not even close) add 2 months of NDP and Japanese numbers to that and then a little more for europe. that might be just over 4 million.

I wonder how many PS3's have been sold in Korea since launch? Hmmmmm....3.6 mil sold in MARCH!!!!!
Plus 1 mil in pal territorys since then..,. that´s 4.6 mil. plus a few more in NA and Japan.. 5-5.5 mil..
simple math bi**es.

Anyways, "About 5.5 million PlayStation 3 consoles were shipped by March 31, with 3.6 million of them actually sold, Oneda said."
What's today's date? That's right, March 31st was nearly 3 months ago. So, the 5.5 million number isn't hard to believe at all.

Just a guess (and this is complete speculation based on what I've observed from articles, NDP and, sales estimation sights so please dont ask for a link) I wouldguesssomewhere around4.2-4.4 million sold to stores and maybe 3.5-3.8 milion sold to customers.
on nexgenwars ps3 has 3.5 million sold where as the wii is on 8.1 mill and 360 on 11.1 mill.
To say the ps3 will be back in the race in6 months time is laughable they are in trouble unless they have a big pricedrop in the xmas time. Even then i think it will be last all through 2008 as well

Despite what that Oneda said, the PS3 most certainly did NOT sell 3.6 million by March 31. It is closer to 3.6 million now, if anything. And it's doubtful it could sell 2 million in two anda half months, even if it was 3.6 million at the end of March even with Korea's launch.-Antisocial-I'd rather take their word for it over yours. =P

I didnt think that sony could actually acuarately keep up with the actual number sold to customers just the number they sell to retailers. and in a different article it said 3.6 million sold to stores and the 5.5 were either in transit or in warehouses.[QUOTE="LuvGaming"][QUOTE="laughingman42"]I think you're confused. 6+ million PS3's have been SHIPPED/SOLD to retailers. 3.6 million were sold to CUSTOMERS by late March. ermm, its 5,5 mil ps3s sold to retaliers, not to customers.
Number of ps3s sold to consumers is 3.5 mil according to next gen wars and when a console sells 80000 a month and gets outsold by the Gba, it is considered bad

[QUOTE="Mizuke"]And the number sold to consumers? (De ja vous...?)

Its Déjà Vu you noob.
Déjà : Already
Vu: PP of Voir, that means to See, to it means Seen.
My, aren't we aggressive?Nice nitpicking, although it's obvious French isn't a language I know. Everyone knows what I meant anyway.
But in all seriousness, thanks for the lesson. Don't think I'll ever get it wrong again. :P
[QUOTE="gromit007"]Nowhere near 5.5 million. Can anyone link to official SALES???

Exactly.
So what if Sony have shipped 5.5 million Playstation 3's. That doesn't stop them from sitting on store shelves.
5.5 million sold already to consumers? Could've sworn it was at 3.6 million a few days ago.
I'll just wait for an official announcement.
