Capcom sold 2 million copies of DMC4 on 360/PS3.

My thing is, if they are making millions of dollars of the current userbase now, why would they stop in the future with an even larger base? Point is: it ain't the end of anyone.

You're gonna get flamed for saying the console war is over, but yeah, this is serious potential and may cause further trouble for Sony and MS.

Ya this can be huge esp with FPS and rpgs.

If they could make another infared device that does not require the Wiimote and make it connected to the sensor bar you elminate some inconvenience. They need to make this super accessible meaning those goggles wont cut it. They need to make something smaller that is almost unseen around the head.

You just turn your head to move the camera - it's hardly going to blow Sony and Microsoft out of the water. It isn't enough of a feature to justify purchasing a Wii just for it, as the TC is making it out to be.

Unless the tv were to move where you looked, I see this being pointless. You turn your head and you are forced to turn your eyes in the opposite direction to still see the screen, that is completely unrealistic.

Exactly, there was no mention of a helmet or a viewing screen...this was done with Beach Head 2000 and it only works with a huge screen like that.

This won't effect anything anymore then what has already happen with all three systems; Wii will continue to dominate, 360 and PS3 sales will continue to fight it out for 2nd, and PC. . . oh PC lol. PC gaming will be PC gaming as it has always been.

It doesn't seem amazing yet, but the potential it has is very interesting for certain genres.

If they were to fully research and develop the technology further, I would probably show more interest.

I'm still traumatized from Sega's 3D glasses with Zaxxon 3D back in the late 80s. :(

Nintendo was the first to have analog sticks... sega and sony had it on their systems the same gen. Nintendo was the first to do rumble... Sony had it on its system the same gen. The flaw in this is that someone can always bite your idea. As long as the games are fun, nobody really cares.

All this will make people think is, "wow, what if you had 360/Ps3 quality graphics and processing ability with this?"

My mistake, anyway imagine that, controlling the camera on a FPS with the tilt on the sixaxis when, if mastered, could blow KB/M out of the water in terms of precision.

They dont need to reseach the technology further, it's cheap and extremely well implemented, and it has nothing to do with 3D glasses, the glasses just hold the head scanners in place

The main benefit would probably be only for in-place perspective changes. Leaning around corners and such. I can also imagine applications for adventure-mystery games where the game would encourage you to investigate clues more closely. These are minor implementations, but properly and seamlessly implemented, they could really immerse the player.

Just as the wiimote remains an excellent idea which has yet to live up to its full potential, if this sort of headgear does indeed make its way to the masses in conjunction with the Wii, it will only be as cool as the games which utilize it. Most developers will probably end up throwing it into games as an afterthought, which won't make it particularly cool or revolutionary.

Virtual Boy much?

At best it will be as successful as the PS2 Eyetoy, at worst it will fail horribly. Since you seem to set on it though, its worth mentioning thats not VR, its a different type of motion-sensing and the PS3 is fully capable of it as well.

And the Wii will require some sort of peripheral also, unless you suggest people start waving around the sensor bar? The Eye costs so little at this point that its barely even worth mentioning that.

a) You'd also need the same sort of peripheral -- an IR emitter -- for the PS3. Which means buying TWO peripherals for the PS3 -- the EyeToy, and the IR emitter -- and only ONE for the Wii.

2) How much does the EyeToy cost?

Exactly however I don't really see many devlopers using this technology, even in Boom blox they are only using it as an easter egg not as a fully developed feature.

1) Which could be included in the same package as the Eye for little additional cost, or possibly eliminated entirely.

2) $70 with a game, which is about the same price as a special edition. This is at full MSRP and I see no reason to believe it'll stay at that price, especially if Sony chose to go ahead with something like this, which I doubt.

Considering that the Eye is already used for gaming (with regular releases) it would have an established base, unlike the potential Wii solution. That doesn't change at all what I said to begin with, this won't be successful wherever it ends up.

lol, dramage control on this topic has compared head tracking to the power glove and voice recognition.

There is no laughing smiley big enough to demonstrate the laugh that is out loud in my house right now.

Microsoft and Sony can't be in any more trouble then they are right now though, however, this new technology will raise eyebrows for the Wii, as if it needed them raised, its the most sucessful console of all time, and nothing can slow it down.

All I can say is PS3 should consider itself lucky it can play Blu-Ray discs, and Microsoft, get to working on the 720. Sure, both companies will make, or more likely, lose money, till the end of this gen. However, Nintendo laughs at their "sales" from its mountain, at this point. There is no more "war" only a sloppy battle for second place, dominated by a PS3 with some left over brand clout from last gen.

Hey, truth hurts. Maybe MGS can up the PS3 sales in japan for more than a week, and shut me up, but then it can't. In 2010 when FFXIII comes out, the Wii better watch out, cause Sony will gain some ground! lmao.

They can do it TrackIR style, where you can adjust the sensitivity so that a tilt of the head downward will make you tilt your head a little more in the game. Anyway, full head tracking coupled with a full motion sensing Wii-mote would be freaking amazing, especially for FPS and sword fighting games.

So head tracking and virtual reality is a fad, and in 20 years, we'll all be back to playing on 2d static images like we should have been from the start, amiright? Kinda like motion controls? Silly. Don't ruin your reputation, trying to damage controls Wii breakthroughs. Just don't let topics like this provoke you. They are meant to make you react like this. Sure, the PS3 and 360 will never sell like the Wii, but that doesn't mean they are "dead" just "not as alive".

a) You'd also need the same sort of peripheral -- an IR emitter -- for the PS3. Which means buying TWO peripherals for the PS3 -- the EyeToy, and the IR emitter -- and only ONE for the Wii.

2) How much does the EyeToy cost?

1) Which could be included in the same package as the Eye for little additional cost, or possibly eliminated entirely.

1) Exactly. The cost for the IR emitter is virtually negligible. The cost for the Eyetoy, however, is not.

b) Is this the EyeToy or the EyeToy HD? And why would it have an established base for head tracking when no systems other than the Wii currently even employ head tracking?

iii) Self-counter: You should've brought up the fact that the PS3 + EyeToy has face and pattern recognition abilities, unlike the Wiimote which is purely an IR sensor. That would eliminate the need for an IR emitter peripheral entirely. It might eat up some CPU cycles, but not that much. And since I just beat my own argument, I'll leave you alone for now. :)
