Wii is a system that will sell Nintendo games and nothing else. 3rd party will have a hard time on Wi. The top selling games on the system are all from Nintendo.

FlockofSpagheti

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Best-selling_games#Wii

And that list proved my point.

There are less than 10 million sellers on Wii... 2 of them are third party when you said that third party games do not sell...

Nintendo games have always dominated on their console hence the reason 3rd party developers dropped the gamecube support. The same will happen with the Wii watch and see. It will be a system dominated by Nintendo games geared towards the younger crowd.

[QUOTE="afmsquid"]and now point and click adventure(a genre made over 12 years ago)Jandurin

:|

Did you just bash point and click adventures?

Respect = less than 0.

Furthermore, more than 12 years ago, lol. And finally: point and click adventure > FPS.

They had their time and now they're gone(now trying to make a comeback). Or maybe I just played too many of them when they were out.

So, what genre hasn't had enough representation in the gaming world? MMOs?

I didn't mention anything about representation, only that this type of genre was around long before now. Sure, other genres have been around longer, but point and click (IMO) is probably the most boring out of all of them. I don't know how many series of point and click I have played over the years from Sierra, Lucasarts, and other companies that are probably not around anymore. Those type of games have little to no replay value and are more like watching a movie than interacting in a video game.

what? i didnt get a word you just said, rephrase

FlockofSpagheti

All of those games you said are aimed at adults... besides maybe Too human... are aimed at adhd 15 year olds... being aimed at adults has nothing to do with swearing and violence and graphic sex...

your saying that uncharted and mass effect are for adults? ANYWAY

what games on the wii aint aimed at 15 year olds aor kids either. lol if u say metroid prime and zelda then i might aswell just quit gaming all together

because those games aint aimed at 17 year olds and under either those games

Many games... like No More heroes the next game by the Killer7 guy... or the next Fire emblem... or the Steven Spielberg game... or actually most of the line up... most of it is aimed at all audiences not just "kids" or "teens" or "adults"... things like Mario are appreciated by everyone...

but who was mario aimed at? defenately not adults even iif some buy it. btw are you telling me that most of the ninendo games are more for adults? a simples yes or no dont need you preaching we are not getting anywere

Actually the reason why third party developers dropped Gamecube was because it was suicide to make exclusives for it... they HAD to make Ps2 games if they wanted a chance to make money. Wii is going to be like that this gen... developers will need to make games for it. Also dude if you have not noticed first-party games sell the most of every system... what is the best-selling game on Xbox 1... Halo 2... what is the best selling game on Ps2... Gran Turismo 3...

Since the SNES, Nintendo has always been geared towards the younger crowd. I don't think many of you remember when Nintendo took out the blood from the Mortal Kombat game on the SNES, just to please the parents. Ever since then, most games on Nintendo systems have been geared toward an elementary school type age group, though there are few games here and there for people 16 and up, probably to try and satisfy the parents of those elementary school children.

Mario was aimed at everyone from the beginning... and yes more adults will play Nintendo games because most adults are casuals or non-gamers... so naturally they will play Nintendo games over other things..

If Sony sold its current system at 250 dollars, they would lose so much money, I don't think you realize common sense, if the PS3 was 250 dollars, it would have the same power as the Wii.

forget the common sence, what if sony and the 360 had their hardwares for the same price as nintendo? now anser my question and say nothing else: if sony and microsoft had their hardwares the same price as the wii and sold it for the same price as the wii, do you not think that the wii would be preaty much dead with the technology they have?

Ne because then the other two would also be using outdated technology to get the same price. I own a Wii and a X360 and to be honest I didn't buy the Wii because of the price, I bought it because what it was doing with the controls interest me for one and I also like many of Nintendos games.

You're afraid to play a game that appeals to a younger audience because it doesn't have gore and violence, don't worry, just hide behind Halo 3 and you'll look like a man!

Only time will tell, certainly up until christmas its going to sell like crazy as usual. Once the PS3 and 360 see further price drops it will be interesting to see how the Wii copes. But I think with strong game releases of tested brands and the introduction of say black/silver/pink wiis and game pack ins with the console in the future the wii should continue to sell well.
siberdib
By the time the PS3 and 360 get price drops the Wii will probably have one of its own.

From your gamercard it looks like you stick to more mature games, Halo 2, Call of duty 2, Gears of War. Boring, not a good excuse. But, whatever, your loss for not experiencing SMG, or SSBB.

yes its kind of a fad and no its not aimed for kids, its aimed at people of all ages and you can see that in the types of games that are being developed. Cooking mama?? I dont think kids would be interested in that nor teenagers; im pretty sure its aimed at adults - middle aged people. Same with games like brain training, touch dic etc etc. If you look at the xbox 360 games or even ps3 games you can tell that ALL the games are meant for teenagers to young adults; nobody else could enjoy them.

I don't know that I'd go so far as to say its a fad but it's simplly not in the same class as PS3 and 360 no matter how many it sells. This Nintendo box is no different than the last few....it has it's usual updates of its flagship games and probably one or two others that might temp hardcore gamers to pick one up just to play the exclusives. I knew people who owned Nintendo systems just to play Goldeneye or RE4 (when it was an "exclusive") but not for much else unless they had kids for whom they wanted lots of nice brighty cartoony games.

The cost and novelty controller reels in the casuals and there are a few hardcore Nintendo fans that always buy the new system but the fact remains that the best games will mostly be on other systems or the PC.

[QUOTE="Jandurin"][QUOTE="afmsquid"]Those type of games have little to no replay value and are more like watching a movie than interacting in a video game.Jandurin

To each his own. I've replayed Loom and Secret of Monkey Island more than most games. And played a lot of other point and clicks.

Lol yeah man the old point and clicks are the best... ever played Beneath a steel Sky that is pretty good stuff...

Negative.

Oh well it is good stuff if you are ever looking for a point and click fix.... the company that made it released it as freeware a few years back too...

[QUOTE="Jandurin"][QUOTE="CWEBB04z"]I dont know if Adult Gamers Play Mario, but I highly doubt very many play Mario games.briguyb13

Of course adults play Mario games.

I know Adults play Mario, But usually its the Teenagers who play Mario Games. Adults I think play PC games...

I think it's mostly kids and teenagers who watch NBA basketball, just ask Amad Rishad.

I dont think I understand?

Since the SNES, Nintendo has always been geared towards the younger crowd. I don't think many of you remember when Nintendo took out the blood from the Mortal Kombat game on the SNES, just to please the parents. Ever since then, most games on Nintendo systems have been geared toward an elementary school type age group, though there are few games here and there for people 16 and up, probably to try and satisfy the parents of those elementary school children.

goodlay

SNES was great back then since I was younger but now i am much older. I cannot see myself playing any of those Mario games.

You're afraid to play a game that appeals to a younger audience because it doesn't have gore and violence, don't worry, just hide behind Halo 3 and you'll look like a man!

I am not afraid to play i just find them extremely boring.

From your gamercard it looks like you stick to more mature games, Halo 2, Call of duty 2, Gears of War. Boring, not a good excuse. But, whatever, your loss for not experiencing SMG, or SSBB.

I am not losing out on anything.

The fact remains that the "best game" label is almost solely used for adhd-aimed shooters... but when you look at the "best games ever" lists what do you see... it's all Nintendo... Ocarina of time Mario 64 Super Mario Bros. 3 Goldeneye etc...

Remember the last time Nintendo made a fad... it was called DS... before that it was Pokemon... before that it was Gameboy... before that it was NES... before that it was Donkey Kong... dude these are not fads they are just hits... try to accept it and it will make it easier when Sony goes bankrupt and MS pulls out of gaming...

Will Never Happen, Sony and Microsoft are Huge corporations, if there gaming divisions dont do well, they usually have other sales to make up for it. Nintendo just sells games...

Having other divisions make up for it is bad business... it worries the stock holders...Nintendo on the other hand made more actual profit last generation than either of their game divisions... also Sony is on the brink of bankruptcy and the company has been struggling for years... now I am not talking about chapter 7 bankruptcy I mean like chapter 11... Micrsoft on the other hand does not want to displease stock holders so if the 360 keeps flopping they may pull out we will see...

Cool man, I read about it. It sounds cool, and I definitely like the whole dystopian situation.

In my, and in many other opinions, there are better action-RPG's than Zelda, much better shooters than Goldeneye, and better platformers than Mario Bros. I've never said that Nintendo doesn't have some hits on it's systems but I'd encourage you to go look at the walls of your local game store and compare the libraries. I wouldn't trade the 2-3 games worth playing on each Nintendo generation with the dozens available on the PS and Xbox walls.

Wii is a fun little gizmo but eventually the casuals not really all that into gaming will loose interest in it. How many versions of tennis and golf does your mom really want to play?

I don't think it is now. A fad wouldn't last as long as the Wii did.
