Still debating between amnesia or Vampire: masquerade bloodlines.ferret-gamer
Get both, it's almost criminal to deprive yourself of one of those great gaming experiences. Though I suggest you get Amnesia first, since the developers need all the support they can get and the game itself is one of the best horror's I've ever played.
Still debating between amnesia or Vampire: masquerade bloodlines.ferret-gamerVampires, for sure. Amnesia will be an amazing experience (now Im about an hour or so in, plus the demo), but Vampires is one of the best RPGs on the PC, beating out the Witcher in my books. It does have some serious draw backs (dont go guns), but the experience itself has a few moments that make the emotional high of the Amnesia demo feel quite week. Anyone who has seen the two sisters "talking" will know what I mean...

Strategy: PC isTHE flagship for strategy, hotkeys and mouse are a must.
Shooters: PC offers more than run and gun,STALKER, Cryostasis, plusMouse and keyboard... nuff said.
RPG: PC has the most innovative and diverse choice of RPG's, with possibly the exception of JRPG's.
Adventure: Games like Metroid, Tomb Raider, Prince of Persiaprobably have a happier home on consoles, but still are better on the PC in alot of cases.
Casual, Puzzle, Social: Puzzle Quest, Peggle, Point and click games, even farmville... look to the PC.
Sports/racing: This is the only Genre the PC does badly, untill we get a good port of FIFA or adecent rival to Forza or Gran Turismo, consoles will dominate this genre.
Well the score stands at4/2.
Metroid, PoP and Tomb Raider aren't adventure, they action-adventure. PC dominates adventure, consoles dominate action-adventureAdventure: Games like Metroid, Tomb Raider, Prince of Persiaprobably have a happier home on consoles, but still are better on the PC in alot of cases.

I would have been there for weeks trying to put down every sub genre. Prince of Persia could be a platformer, I said adventure for the sake of simplicity. Some would say Uncharted 2 is an Action adventure, some a 3rd person shooter. Some adventures could be acalled RPG's, and so on.

Actual Adventure Genre games are stuff like Monkey island, non of the game you listed could be considered adventure games.and console gamers get more Generic shooters and claim victory

The PC crowd - classy as always.
Wow sweet, might splash out for Civilisation.JohnF111Wow, someone actually spelt it right!
I saw recettear on steam... but it looked like it was going to be really bad.
Is it actually something to look forward to?
Ohhh demo. *downloads*
The item shop part is interesting, cause I can see myself working in an item shop in the near future ^_^

Meh, Amnesia & Civ are good but not the best. Recettear looks garbage on average imo. abuabedYep, because it's cool to judge games before you play them.
Meh, Amnesia & Civ are good but not the best. Recettear looks garbage on average imo. abuabedI love posts like this. Civ is the king of turn based strategy games, it's not just "good", and Amnesia and Racettear are both getting amazing responses on forums everywhere. But hey, if you say "meh", then I guess these games just ain't all that.
Omg i'm completely sold on recettear :D
Capitalism, ho!
I want an item store too now.
Hmmm, I don't have a house yet, though. And I'll need a huge debt.
Maybe I can make this work.

I was suprized at how fun it is. Just finished that demo and it's made of awesome!
Lol, Civilization 5 best RTS of the generation? Please, man, PLEASE!Crimsader
There is a fundamental flaw with this.

I think this image deserves a re-post. Also to all the "PC only has RTS, etc" posters. :D

So you have played amnesia and civ 5 then? and you are judginh recettear by how it "looks"?
I played Amnesia and it is good, not the best. SCII has already taken the crown of the best Strategy game for this year and yeah, the first thing to judge games with is the way they look because it is the first thing I see.[QUOTE="Frozzik"]

SCII has already taken the crown of the best Strategy game for this year and yeah, the first thing to judge games with is the way they look because it is the first thing I see. Not enough to formulate an opinion on it though, until you actually play game, nothing you say actually matters. SC2 and Civ5 are insanely different kinds of strategy games, you can't just put them in the same genre and say SC2 is better. As for Recettear, lots of positive reviews from RPG sites and stuff, just because its an indie game doesn't make it crap. :|As for Amnesia, the only thing you can compare it to is Penumbra, and its the same developer. Most other horror games in the last couple years have been a huge meh.
[QUOTE="DragonfireXZ95"][QUOTE="abuabed"] You don't need to play a game to give a first impression about it do you? well according to your logic we can't say Halo Reach, KZ3, Crysis 2...etc look bad or good....how smart  [QUOTE="Frozzik"][QUOTE="abuabed"]Meh, Amnesia & Civ are good but not the best. SCII has already taken the crown of the best Strategy game for this year and yeah, the first thing to judge games with is the way they look because it is the first thing I see.I purchased Amnesia (not the demo). So far i have to say it is by far one of the best survival horror games ever made. Without a doubt the best this gen....name me a better one please.
Civ 5 is a TBS, not an RTS and you are judging it before you have even played it so to say it isn't the best strategy game is a little premature.
As for recettear, i tried the demo, it is not my cup of tea but i will buy it as my daughter loved it. Atleast i tried it, didn't just look at it.

110million
In the end both SCII and Civ 5 are Strategy games and what I said is that SCII has taken the crown for this genre, it doesn't matter how they differ because they belong to the same genre. Meaning if TC said Civ 5 will be the best Potato(as a genre) game and it is the only one this year then yeah I'd agree. I doubt Civ 5 can score more than 9.0 anyways.
As for Recettear: a game getting positive reviews doesn't make it automatic fun, a lot of other games get positive reviews yet you don't like them and on the other hand many other games don't get mentioned here but they become on of your favorites, it's just my opinion about it so I can't be wrong...neither you.
As for Amnesia, I have played it one my bro's PC for 4 hours and it is good, never said it was bad but it ain't the best, for this year it might be the best sure.
As I said those are just my opinions and they can change with time but for now my views stand still, I just don't like what I don't like.
[QUOTE="Frozzik"]name me a better one pleaseabuabedWell, you think it is the best? that's great, good for you and have a good time enjoying it. I think it's good and I'll enjoy it too but for me: Dead Space 1 was a better game and the same could be said about Condemned 2. Dead Space 1 isn't scary at all though. Neither is Condemned 2. You seem to combine too many genres into one type.

Dead space is a survival horror? Condemned 2? rofl. Again this is even a survival horror? I may be wrong, maybe these are survival horror games, personally id put them in the action horror catagory myself.Loved the 1st condemned btw, second was a big pile of dog turd...imo of course.
Amnesia is what survival horror fans like myself have been screaming for. Dead space is not scasry at all imo. How can you be scared when you have big bloody guns to shoot the enemies, sure there are a few jumpy moments, a few heart racing moments but few, if any truly terrifying moments.
