Shipping, taxes and power are I agree bullshit costs and not added to the price.
An operating system however is needed.
PS4 is not even more powerful than $400 PC hardware. Cows again living in fairy tale land... AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Yeah it is...... Can you make a $400 PC to run BF4 at max settings at 1920 x 1080 and run at 60 solid frames a second?
BF4 PS4 is 900p. You haven't been paying attention...
You still not accepting that a computer needs an OS that needs to be taken into account.

Yup, and currently there are more games available for free operating systems than XB720 and PS4 combined. Plus not everyone pays full price for windows. I have my copy of 7 from when it first came out. Cost me $99. It has been on 4 PCs and one laptop already(one at a time). My total cost for it has been $20 per system.
Still costs you which ever way you try to swing it.

Nope. The Trine 2 PC vs PS4 thread here discusses it with links. I am tired of posting systems, then some tool just replies "where's the monitor?", as if a TV comes free with a PS4, or "you need windows" when you do not, like the PS4 runs windows, or "you need to add $50 for a game pad", etc. $400 hardware outperforms the PS4.
So that's just a really long winded way of saying you can't.

Now jumping to conclusions because your argument has fallen flat, quite amusing considering the people arguing with you are not cows. If that computer doesn't have windows, then the PC can't even outperform the PS4 in BF4, it can't even run the game, so I guess it would be getting outclassed by a $400 console then.
It's been posted 1000s of times all over the net, various pc builds outperforming the ps4 ON PAPER.
For 400$ more or less. And what's wrong with using your old m/k? Or monitor (which shouldn't be included in the costs anyways), hdd? ram?

False. You need an OS and unless you fancy pirating one its going to cost you so there goes your $400 argument yet again. Not to mention, keyboard, mouse and monitor etc.

Easy, monitor isn't included in the costs much like the tv for consoles isn't. And theoretically you could use a tv too, I know I used to have a 32" full hd lcd as my monitor 3 years ago.

microsoft hate home users, they try to charge a price that no sane home user should pay and 95% of all home users in the planet understand M$ message and refuse to pay their abusive price
, why home users seem to love M$ in hardware price discussions here?
nobody pays $100 for windows, people get it bundled inside a cheap PC or pay student price around $15-30 or simply get it for free the way 95% of all people do
microsoft knows that and is very happy with this price strategy

Why shouldn't a monitor be counted? Whats the point of having a PC without a fucking monitor? It comes down to common logic. If you are buying a console, I would hope that you have a TV to play it on, same goes for a PC. If you are building a PC, I hope you are also buying a monitor to go with it.

Not even necessary. This pc hardware here will outperform the PS4 every single time. Has KB and mouse too. It's funny watching cows (not you) squirm and weasel their way out of facts. They use the "no OS" excuse, the "You ave to build it yourself" excuse, the "no game pad" excuse, "no monitor" excuse, basically anything they can.
Actually, a price changed by +$9 in that build, but there is another motherboard there for $35 now, bringing the cost to just under $400.

You technically can't even play BF4 o the PS4 without any extra cost, as it costs you money to operate the console via electricity. You're using just recycling the same old stupid "no OS argument". The discussion is about HARDWARE, which you have already lost.
You can't play games on hardware you spanner.
I had a thought. My rig that I got from a relative of mine that I made gaming capable is basically on its way out. This time I plan to make the cheapest gaming capable PC possible. The best part is, that it will use a very similar if not identical apu that is in the consoles and possibly twice the ram, that remains to be determined.
If no one that owns either console here knows, AMD plans on releasing the exact processors the Xbox 1 and PS4 are using for us PC users to use in our home built systems. That processor looks to be AMD's Kaveri FM2+ APU at 8 cores/threads. The best part of that, is I'm going to buy a liquid cooler and overclock all 8 cores and my 8 or 16GB RAM as high as they will go in terms of stability and temperature making it a monstrously powerful (compared mainly to the consoles) overclocked machine that will only lack in exclusives made for the consoles themselves. It means that nonsense article (google it) called "You can't build a PS4" or some such nonsense will be disproved as soon as those APUs get into PC users hands.
We will effectively be able to not only build a PS4 or Xbox 1 specced system but also exceed their power, cheaply. With an APU we won't need a discrete GPU, not really, especially not if the game requirements are the specs the consoles have. I think AMD is planning on releasing these "timed console exclusive" APUs next month or sometime in Q1 of 2014.

But I can't use that hardware without the OS, and without windows, the PC can't compete with the PS4 running BF4. Does the $400 one would pay to get the PS4 not include an operating system that can play this game? Face it, that $400 PC can't compete with the PS4 in BF4 without the operating system. That's like saying my car is faster than your's but you've taken out the steering wheel, brakes and gas pedal meaning you can drive it, sure all the parts are there, but what's the point if I can't drive the damn thing?

And you don't need to pay for an operating system to play games. This isn't difficult stuff, man. Anyway, it's a red herring, because it distracts from the point of the argument, that $400 HARDWARE can and does outperform the PS4.
True, you could use Linux but the amount of games you can play using it is very limited compared to Windows. So, if you want to play games like AC4, BF4 or COD Ghosts you will need Windows which means you need to pay for that so that ruins your $400 argument. Why is that so hard for you to grasp?

That's $444. To play BF4 on PS4 you need $450 (we talking BF4 here so PSN is a must). Now if for some reason you insist on buying a fresh new copy of windows instead of just using you old product key then its $533. But again if we talking upselling aren't you gonna get a second controller for that PS4? You aren't a hermit right? So yeah that's $500 for that PS4. Again not that far off. But the PS4 is the most bang for your buck right now untill the $500 steam box comes out.

^^^ was beta btw and he was still getting 50 to 80 fps on high at 900p'ish. Performance has improved a lot since launch and updated drivers.
But honestly if your bar is that low just upgrade and save the hassle. Most modern desktops can support something like a 7850 being tossed in there. You might have to get a new power supply but that's about it.
But since cows like to mark up prices lets see just what they are paying to play BF4.
$400 for console
BF4 comes out every other year so that's $100 of online fees
Really it's $500 you need to budget for PC to match and surpass and with a $500 budget its not even close.
Who cares what the polls say? You know that half of Eastern Europe is gonna come in and vote PC anyway LOL But the sad truth is that for all that power they're still stuck playing half baked last gen 360 ports like Crysis 3 LMFAO!
Sorry to bust your butthurt Hermits but just because Crytek's horribly coded grass physics makes your CPU choke doesn't mean that the game is technically impressive. Here have a cry:
Wow all on a $400 console? Lol meanwhile hermits still trying how to figure you how to get last gen Crysis to run over 20 frames without getting the blue screen of death. LMFAO!

Eve better, cuz that 7790 is too weak.

yeah i did that build in like 2 minutes. He wanted 900p and high so a 7790 is all you need for that. Only thing about your build though that I would change is the power supply. No matter what you budget build is do not skimp out on your powersupply it should be at minimu 80plus certified or you are asking for trouble. But even if you swap out that PSU with a better one you are till at waaaaaaaaaaay less than the $500 cows need to play BF4 till BF5 comes out.
the funny thing about these threads is the fantasy world that consolites live in. I can't help but laugh. Ignorance sure is bliss.
