So the major advantage of consoles over PC is you can lay on a couch and play?

The one reason I always seem to see for choosing consoles over PC is that you can sit or lay on your couch and play, is that correct? If this isnt the major reason then what is?

I am actually more comfortable on my computer chair than sitting on a couch playing games. When im on a couch I keep moving forward and back because I feel I am not close enough to the screen or to close.

There are numerous reasons. Consoles are typically easier to use, lack upgradeability (can be seen as an advantage and a disadvantage), offer specific games which may appeal to somebody, andpossibly others I cannot think of right now.

Same, whenever I play a somewhat engaging game on a console I have to crane my neck forwards to even comprehend what is going on.

It's simply more enjoyable. Not to mention that the majority of the PC games are trash, and the fact that PC gaming is becoming less and less significant as time goes by.

The major reason is people are not individuals yet and don't know how to express themselves so they get a personal (standard) PS3/360/Wii. !!!!!

Less and less significant, yet holding more exclusives than consoles? Whilst it's gaming market *increases* from year to year.

Yes, the significance is becoming less and less (by which I mean more and more).

I won't comment on what you said about the games... It's not even worth it.

I have to disagree with you and say that I believe quite the opposite. I own a PS2 and at the height of that gen I mostly gamed on the PS2 and have tons of quality games. Can't say the same for this gen, where I'm buying new PC games pretty much every month. I find being able to see what I'm playing infinitely more comfortable and enjoyable than sitting on the edge of a sofa trying to make out whats going on.

Guys stop hating the PC it is the best system available. You guys just believe the overrating Hermits do on SW far too much. Truth is, PC is the best. And the truth is PC graphics aren't light years over games such as GOW 3, U2, KZ2 etc. Now for opinions. I actually like console exclusives more than PC exclusives.

Ease of use and lack of upgradability. The average gamer noob likes these more than just sitting on a couch.

It's simply more enjoyable. Not to mention that the majority of the PC games are trash, and the fact that PC gaming is becoming less and less significant as time goes by.

TheMaryCeleste

That so?

I wonder why the PC has more higher scoring exclusives than all consoles, despite higher standards and despite the fact that we aren't even counting some games that don't get reviewed.

The only advantage is they are simple to use. Not because you can lay on couch and play since you can do that with a PC as well. Not to mention that the majority of the console games are trash, and the fact that console gaming is becoming more and more causual for noobs as time goes by.

Links are not necessary. It's a common fact. PC games sell terribly compared to console games, and more and more developers will in the future focus on consoles.

We've seen Crysis 2 switching from being an exclusive, like the original, to being released on consoles. And we've seen the most anticipated game in the history of mankind (along with Halo 3 and GTA IV), Modern Warfare 2, sell terribly on the PC while its console sales make it one of the best-selling games of all time. And we've witnessed a lot more.

Links are absolutely necessary. They provide evidence, which your posts lack.

Call me when consoles actually have more exclusives than the PC. Or when they have more indie developers than the PC gets. DD is taking over a large portion of the market, and the NPD have only just started tracking (they haven't released any figures regarding it yet IIRC). PC retail is not as big as it used to be in NA, and has shrunk considerably in terms of general shelf space. Naturally because of the shift to DD as a suitable purchasing platform.

Crysis 2 has gone multiplat, similar to games like FFXIII (which has mostly been a console oriented series). Why? Due to increases in production costs, to expand the market to beyond what it is and to expand sales. Multiplatform development is happening from console to console as well as from PC to console. PC has also had some games that we would never usually get due to the shift, for example, Just Cause 2.

Your points do not show an overall larger console market size than PC. Thus links are a necessity and i'll be waiting for you to get back... Within a reasonable time fram of course.

Yeah, most PC users actualy don't give a damn about what others tell them and buy actualy good games made for their systems not some poor ports made by a lazy dev to get optimum profits with minumum work, A.K.A. getting ripped off...

I´m also seeing Fable 3 coming to the PC after fable 2 was exclusive. And MGS Rising is coming to the PC as well. Heck, looking at what MS is planning for the PC(a new AoE,new Flight sim and a "secret" game that will supposedly be top in graphics, all of these for the PC),even a port of Reach is very possible.

PC also got a bunch of games that usually never did before, such as SF4,DMC4,a couple of JRPG´s that I don´t recall the name now and even FFXIV is going to release on the PC at least 6 months before the console version...

Oh,and Kinect is on PC as well.

With a console you can just plug it in and play. You don't have to build a PC just to get the best performance. If you settle with a Pre-builts it's relatively more expensive and have low-quality parts like PSU.

You can purchase the parts sperately and have a small "mom and pop" store put it together for $30-50. Building yourself and buying pre-builts aren't the only options.

I would say the advantage of the PC is its flexiblilty: Want accurate control for fps? Use Keyboard/mouse. Want to use a controller for games? Just hook one up. Need more power? Upgrade. Mix in the amazing library the PC has, it's a gamers heaven.

To the OP: When did you start playing video games? If you missed out playing the console exclusive titles to systems like the NES, Genesis, SNES, SS, N64 when they were hitting the shelves, you'd know the answer to your question. I'll give you a hint: it starts with G and ends with AMES.

If you started playing in the 6th and 7th gen, when MMORPGs and FPSs came to the forefront and overall game-play in games declined sharply, then what you're trying to say makes more sense to me. Even if it is flame-bait.

Usually PC games have a lot more depth to them than their console counterparts especially when it comes to RPGs.

Huh? I don't have time to discuss this ridiculous thing with you. Both you and I know the PC is a format which more and more in the future will decide to abandon.

And Crytek is releasing Crysis 2 due to this.

Playing local coop with buddies without having to drag around equipment and cables worth more than $100093soccer

How many games offer local co op? Hell, how many games offer SPLITSCREEN. You can play local co op on the PC too, by the way. Just attach 2 Xbox 360 controllers and you're on your way. ;)

lundy86_4, I quote the boss of Epic;

"Piracy's already had its impact [on the PC market]. If you walked into this place six years ago, Epic was a PC company and always had been. We did one PS2 launch title, which was a port of Unreal Tournament, and everything else was PC," Capps told Edge.

"And now, if you read our forums, people are saying: 'Why do you hate the PC? You're a console-only company.' And guess what? It's because the money's on console."

Less and less significant, yet holding more exclusives than consoles? Whilst it's gaming market *increases* from year to year.

Yes, the significance is becoming less and less (by which I mean more and more).

I won't comment on what you said about the games... It's not even worth it.

Serious or not? Console gaming is a lot bigger than PC gaming.

 Thanks for the laugh,I needed that.

PC "gaming" is larger because of flash games and free to play games but actually the console market makes much more money than the "actual" PC gaming market.

Where is the keyboard and mouse gonna go?

You can always do this.

Huh? I don't have time to discuss this ridiculous thing with you. Both you and I know the PC is a format which more and more in the future will decide to abandon.

And Crytek is releasing Crysis 2 due to this.

TheMaryCeleste

Don't have time, or can't find any links? You replied to me, I replied back asking, once again, for links which you haven't provided.

Piracy is a huge issue with PC games, everyone knows this. So what does the link prove? Not much. Like I said, many developers move to multiplatform to expand their sales, which is what Crytek is doing. What they think they are losing on piracy, they likely believe they can make up on consoles. Any company when it becomes large enough would rightfully expand, either into other markets or as a larger presence in their current market.

When I see more and more indie devs getting their breaks on PC, and more exclusives on the PC and the market INCREASING in size, it's hard to see people abandoning it completely. Like I said it's not only PC games going multiplat, as many console games are doing so as well. They are even releasing versions on the PC, the thing you state devs are "abandon"ing.

Unfortunately for consolites, they don't know that you can use any kind of gamepad for input on the PC, and hook it up to a fancy HDTV... and get the most out of it (60fps + 1080p). There really are no advantages for the console over the PC... its what they get for being closed platforms.

lundy86_4, I quote the boss of Epic;

For that company it probably is. Again you're not proving your initial point that the console gaming market is larger... Come on, try a little harder.
