It was incredibly popular for piraters in terms of downloading. Naturally, 1 download does not equate to one lost sale.

Links are not necessary. It's a common fact. PC games sell terribly compared to console games, and more and more developers will in the future focus on consoles.
We've seen Crysis 2 switching from being an exclusive, like the original, to being released on consoles. And we've seen the most anticipated game in the history of mankind (along with Halo 3 and GTA IV), Modern Warfare 2, sell terribly on the PC while its console sales make it one of the best-selling games of all time. And we've witnessed a lot more.
dontshackzmii
Aside from the nonsense you posted which was easily shot down by others. For the record, someone from Activision stated that Modern Warfare 2 actually sold MORE copies than Modern Warfare 1 on PC. So, selling more copies than the previous Modern Warfareis a failure? Granted that there was a supposed boycott by PC gamers for this game.
i hear the game was downloaded 4.5 million times on torrents and only solf 500,000 copies
Well I do know that they sold more than Modern Warfare 1.Don't know the final tally though. Not to mention some PC Gamers boycotted it. I think it would have sold more if they had dedicated servers.
PC to Console arguments are pointless...console's are easier to deal with for the adverage person sense they function as as intended from the start...PCs take some work to get running, and picking the right components plays a part of that. When i can afford to build another PC i will do so, PC gaming is more of a hobby than console gaming so it isnt fair to compare the two.
To the OP: When did you start playing video games? If you missed out playing the console exclusive titles to systems like the NES, Genesis, SNES, SS, N64 when they were hitting the shelves, you'd know the answer to your question. I'll give you a hint: it starts with G and ends with AMES.
If you started playing in the 6th and 7th gen, when MMORPGs and FPSs came to the forefront and overall game-play in games declined sharply, then what you're trying to say makes more sense to me. Even if it is flame-bait.
NEStorianPriest
lol? I started playing games since the late 80´s and PC always had the best games imo
Haha No... My dad got a recliner with an ottoman just for his computer. He games and lays down all the time. Its pretty funny when he falls asleep while playing Neverwinter Nights. :PThe one reason I always seem to see for choosing consoles over PC is that you can sit or lay on your couch and play, is that correct? If this isnt the major reason then what is?

People have been talking about the "death of PC games" for years and it still hasn't happened. Hell I'm sure when the Atari came out people were talking about the death of PC gaming. But most people around here are kids so they wouldn't know any better.
I like to lay around on the couch so I'm on the 360 or PS3 more then the PC.
One nice aspect of consoles compared to pc is that you don't get treated like an unwanted stepchild by developers. I would keep a pc in the living room if it was treated equally but it misses out on too many great games like Skate and Red Dead. It's also become accepted that developers can delay the pc version and I don't like waiting for a game that I really want to play. Then there is also no guarantee that the delayed pc version will be worth the wait as with GTAIV.

You mean like Valve doesn´t seem to care about the console versions of their games, giving them almost no support whatsoever, unlike they do with the PC versions?
Maybe you mean Blizzard, one of the biggest developers in the world that doesn´t even look at the consoles?
Is that why Bioware is developing their most expensive game ever exclusively for the PC in a franchise that started as a console exclusive and now only PC gamers will be able to finish the story?
Perhaps you´re refering to Square Enix, wich is putting FFXIV on the PC at least 6 months before the console version?
Surely that´s why MS is developing a new AoE,a new fligth sim and a "secret" game that will push the graphics on the PC,while at the same time bringing Fable 3 and Kinect to the PC?

If being treated like an unwanted stepchild by developers means still getting the most exclusives of any system, then... *shrug*
It does miss out on great games, much like the consoles miss out on great PC exclusives. That's the nature of the game and why people own multiple systems.

my main problem is mouse hand cramping during long sessions.
overall consoles are more confortable
N30F3N1X
Lolwut?
I've had gaming sessions longer than your average day and never once felt hand cramping.
Same. Infact, I sit infront of my computer pretty much all day, (I do have real life friends, I'm just lazy > .>, and I've never experienced hand cramps. Maybe he should invest in a new mouse? :P
This is my current set up. Unfortunately, all the monitors at home are taken by other computers. So, I'm stuck with the old 32" 720p TV in the family room. I replayed Crysis and Warhead and finished both with this set up. Although I sat on the couch for a couple of levels, I felt more comfortable on the floor leaning on the couch. With RTS games, I just used the mouse on the couch surface. When surfing the web or doing most other PC functions, the wireless keyboard sat on my lap and the mouse on the couch.
I don't mind sitting on the floor. I've been to Japan several times and noticed most of the locals sat very close to the floor using legless floor chairs.

Why is it so hard for console fanboys to realize that the PC has more high scoring exclusives, and more exclusives in general, then all consoles combined. :? Just think before you post, seriously. Less doesn't equal better. The PC has MORE dev support then all consoles combined.
Maybe you mean Blizzard, one of the biggest developers in the world that doesn´t even look at the consoles?Arach666
Blizzard doesn't make games that are playable from the couch. They are highly profitable but extremely slow when it comes to releasing anything not related to WoW. Very profitable but not a lot of releases.

LOL you mean the Star Wars MMO that looks like a ps2 game? That is targeted at MMO addicts, not KOTOR fans. Anyone who played KOTOR on the xbox has a pc that will be able to play it. Anyone with a Mac will be able to play it as well.

I'm not going to read the 6 pages of responses. Or any. I am sure the PC clan told you that you can PC game on your TV. I am sure they mentioned free online, free DLC, mods, better graphics, cheaper prices and maybe a few more i missed.

I have over 12k hours on SC, and half of that between D2 and WC3. I'm totally hooked to SC2 and don't plan to drop it anytime soon.
Your point is moot.

here is the PC's top 10 best selling games and their genres according to gamespot :
1 - The Sims (virtual life)
2 - The Sims 2 (virtual life)
3- WOW (mmo)
5 - Starcraft (RTS)
6 - Half Life (FPS)
7 - Half Life 2 (FPS)
8 - Guild Wars (MMO)
9 - Myst (Adventure)
10 - Sim City 3000 (city building)
so that's 7 genres
now let's look at the top 10 console games
that's 8 genres, only one genre in difference

Who says console shooters are run of the mill? Reviews for console many console shooters, including the one I mentioned above, are excellent, not to mention challenging.Have you tried finishing KZ2 on Elite like I did? Take Halo, for instance, where you can almost pull off a HS blindfolded. Also, Platformers and JRPGs aren't going anywhere. Nintendo, Naughty Dog and Insomnia have put out some great platformers this generation. Ar Tonelico 3 and Valkyria Chronicles 2, not to mention White Knight Chronicles 2 and undoubtedly more Tales games are on the way. And I will enjoy them.
from your post it's so obvious you know nothing about PC gaming, PC gets the most games, the most genres, the most exclusives and free content, unlike your DLC
Actually, I know a decent amount about PC gaming, since I've done some PC gaming. Do I know a lot about recent PC gaming. A little. But I don't play many PC games these days because the games available just aren't worth spending the money on a quality rig on which to play them.
PC caters primarly to mmo and the FPS crowd?
Yes, now they do. These are their best selling genres.NEStorianPriest
Starcraft is an RTS and it's the PC's top selling game of 2010 :|
and the sims 3 was the best selling PC game of 2009
neither of them are shooters or MMO's

Also, thanks for pointing out to me that the PC has no AAAA titles, while the PS3 has 2 (1 exclusive). Also, the PS3 has more games with a rating of 9 or higher than PC, and more genres are represented.
BTW, I don't sit on the couch when I playmy consoles, so for me it's certainly not a reason.

and part of the reason for that is due to the fact that PC has higher standards, or haven't you noticed that GTA scored lower on the PC despite the fact that the game actually has better graphics on the PC?

i sit in my pc chair when playing my ps3 quite a lot although i like to chill out and lye in my bed and play it half the time, but all i have to do to get my pc on the same tv is to go in to ati catlyst software for my graphics card click duplicate on my monitor then use my tv controller to select hdmi 2, and plug a nice wired 360 controller into a usb slot on the front of my pc case, then i start a game and lay down on my bed watching my pc on my tv, its really simple to do and looks a lot better to boot.
some games even automatically lower their resolution to 1920x1080 then the next time i start them on monitor only their back to my 1920x1200 setting :)
justcause 2 and dirt 2 do that and i use a pad and sit in chair or lay down on bed and play them on my tv all maxed out :)
did i mention my lcd hdtv 32 inch and ps3 cost a bit more than my quadcore pc with 4 gig ddr3 and a 24 inch lcd monitor oh i forgot consoles are cheaper right?

The mysterious "higher standards" argument. A game is a game is a game. It's either stellar or its not. Crysis looks like your watching a movie instead of playing a game, yet Uncharted 2 got the same score. SO what does that tell you about Uncharted 2? Maybe that its not all about performance and that gameplay and other elements are what really counts. Graphics are jsut window dressing.

Remember the OP? He's askingif sitting on the couch is a reason to play consoles instead of PC. I'm saying its not.
I sit on the floor because I have a 1 year old who tried pulling up on my speakers stands. Took them down and put them on the floor so they won't fall on him. (6 1/2 inch drivers, so they're really heavy). Just a temporary solution but I like being on axis when sound is coming through my speakers.

yeh though wireless is pretty rubbish for gaming though and i would like a bluetooth keyboard and mouse, and there is wireless xbox pads for pc's although im impressed with the length of the wired 360 controller, it has the longest wire ever :)
untill i get blue tooth keyboards and mice ill settle for my wired g11 keybaord and mx518 mouse along with a wired xbox controller and force feedback joystick :)
rumble on pads has nothing against a stick that actually moves against you, pity my old old force feedback steering wheel and pedals dont work on win7 or vista and were that old had trouble working on xp a vibrating wheel while using pedals and the wheel going against you nothing compares cept the force feedback stick that does the same :)
