So the PS Vita and the 3DS now cost the same

3DSXL is $240 here in Australia, with no game only the console, the price for what the hardware is giving is a joke. Been tempted to buy one but the high price, region lock, and high price of Nintendo games has put me off it, my money is better invested in other things.Blake135

Its something that Sony should have done a long time ago. Now, I think its a little too late for the Vita. Even if devs jumped on the thing ( Not happening) Nothing would come to 2014. 3DS still have pokemon and a new Zelda coming this year. So, if you thought it sold great this year, watch out for next. 

Amazing hardware, but Sony just wasted it.

I think you need to pay more attention to yourself charz, i do admit im a big fan of PS but i dont get that excited for every game that comes out like you do with every nintendo game just saying :P, that is not a bad thing tho it just show your a fan but it just proves my point that just because you think 3DS has a lot of good games dosent mean others will agree, same thing i see Vita is doing alright in terms of games while you believe its dead.

3DS actually gets games.

oh i would love to see monolithsoft take a pop at squeezing something like xenoblade onto the 3DS...just cause :D. that would be an interesting technical challenge to say the least. but thats a bit off topic. sony simply have to splash the cash and partner up with developers to release games for it....lessen the risk for them. i cant think of another way they can do it. like what nintendo did for monster hunter in the west. the answer for them though may be in eastern europe. companies in the west (UK, france, US etc.) are not going to be interested in making a handheld game. they have well established franchises on established or soon to be established platforms. so getting an elder scrolls and a neverwinter nights on it would be very difficult (very cool mind if it did happen). as you say in japan the 3DS can do what they need it to do now and its a lot more popular. however lots of small devs who are doing some pretty epic things are sprining up in eastern europe. metro, the witcher series and so on. if sony could find another CDProjekt red type outfit with a really cool game that could work well on the vita and really back it then it could get peoples attention. the vita is not going to beat the 3DS at its own game so it needs to do what the 3DS is not doing to get peoples attention. it can accomodate games like FPSs and big RPGs (something the size of skyrim would fit on a vita cart, no bother). its just not getting to show this off. which goes back to sony needing to splash the cash and take some of the risk off 3rd parties, big or small.osan0

And Skyrim is less than 5GB, it would easily fit on a Vita OR a 3DS cart.

It will get the kind of games that reach to its growing demographic. Games like Dragons Crown, Tearaway, Gravity Rush, Soul Sacrifice, and Toukiden. Developers can easily choose it over the 3DS because of its superior online service, hardware, and brand loyalty. Capitan_Kid

Why would they choose the Vita's smaller demographic than the 3DS's massive ones, and worldwide ones at that, with Nintendo subsidizing localizations at that? And remember, Vita isn't the only system with 'growing demographics.' 3DS's demographics are growing as well, and faster, much more rapidly.

b) Three out of those five games are first party; the other two are not Vita exclusive, and could easily have been done on the 3DS as well, especially Toukiden

c) Superior online service does not matter in Japan, which is the region you are talking about. Hardware, like I said, 3DS is capable enough of hosting any type of game barring massive overworlds, so I don't know why developers would leave cash from 33 million systems sold on the table for a system with much higher development costs that has sold less than a sixth of that. And brand loyalty? Yes, that's how business decisions are made.

:shock: no lie i actually thoguht 3DS had nothign but netflix app, i'll definitely get one this year because its just too hard to skip on that pokemon game ( already sold 5 of my games and have $100 gift card at EBgames, $99 left! ).

I must have missed on all the threads about the games you listed it seems but man quantity dosent mean quality :P ( you know scores by someone elses opinion dont matter to me ), 3DS has more games but not all of them are good and trust me i did play most of the games that are out and have yet to play  a good game except the upcoming pokemon which without playing i know will be good cuz its pokemon!

so yea overall will be joining the 3DS club this October.
