Playing an old game on a new system is the definition of backwards compatibility. Doesn't matter what format they are on.Any way you put it is backwards compatibility. It does suck that you can't play the original versions of your old cartrigate games, but at least you can still PLAY them.

I disagree with you. That's like saying this game
makes the Gamecube 100% backwards compatible with the N64 and the NES.
Or a game like
means that the SNES is 100% backwards compatible with the NES.
You inherently know that this isn't backwards compatibility. You're playing a GameCube format game on the Gamecube, with the software on the disc emulating the N64. Same with Super Mario All Stars, an SNES game emulating an NES game. This is NOT backwards compatibility.
Same with the Wii, but instead of buying a Wii compatible disc, you're just purchasing and downloading digital content that is being emulated by the Wii.
And what about computers or the PSP that can emulate older generation systems? Does this mean that the PSP is backwards compatible with the NES/SNES/N64/Sega Master System/Genesis/Neo Geo/Lynx/Gameboy/Gameboy Advance/etc?????
