So what doesn't make LBP kiddy? (POLL now added)

This is a serious question. From what i have seen is that you play with a bunch of toys and really lets me honest, if it has colourful graphics instead of the current graphics then no one would care about its content and just call it kiddy. That seems to be the case with cows and a game like Pokemon which is great fun but because of the look of the game they call it kiddy, i bet if Pokemon has the same type of graphics as LBP then it wouldn't be be bashed as much (or if Pokemon was a Sony franchise). I bet if LBP was on the Wii then the cows would immediately call it kiddy.

Come on cows, explain this double standards to me.

It's an immersive detailed game. Just like Mario, which noone calls kiddy. LBP is a game that is just so incredibly original and so amazingly made ( I mean you have freedom to create any stuff you imagine!). In short, if a person is to devote 5 hours in one sitting to a game, then that game is not casual or kiddy. LBP is such a game. If I could choose one game from PS3 that the 360 could get, without hesitation it would be LittleBigPlanet.

LBP is kiddy, it's got little characters and music that would appeal to kids, but the detailed graphics give the game a "realistic" art style. Games like Pokemon were never intended to look realistic, that art style is mimicing the cartoon and is therefore (in some people's opinions) less appealing to people who aren't kids.

Basically, yes. This isn't quite my point of view, but thinking from a consumer's standpoint: Looking at images of LBP one can see things like baskets and fruit and other objects that actually look real. Looking at images of Pokemon one can see a cartoon.

I'm sure there are many people (probably casuals) who do not want anything "kiddy," and automatically dismiss pokemon without actually trying its gameplay to find out if it's fun. Those same people might see the more realistic graphics of LBP and not have those same thoughts. That doesn't mean that the concept or gameplay of LBP is any less kiddy than Pokemon, I think they're both "kiddy." The art alone of LBP is less "kiddy" simply because it looks more like reality than a cartoon.

games aren't kiddy because of looks, but because of gameplay!

That's basically it. A dancing mini-game played at parties is kiddy even if it has looks better than Crysis.
