They need to remake the first two metal gears using the mgs4 engine, that's what they have to do I think.
Exactly, end the series on a high note. I havent heard anything about Metal Gear Solid Rising in a while though....
http://www.gamespot.com/ps3/action/metalgearsolidrising/news.html?sid=6268556&mode=news
For the people that didnt know there actually might be a Metal Gear Solid 5
Kojima considers Peacewalker 5 and Rising 6. So it would be MGS7. I don't want to see a game take play after 4 but there are still lots of prequel possiblities.
It won't the story is done....

That doesn't mean much. MGS2 was truly the last MGS game he planned on making. It was supposed to be the end, which was fine, but "fans" of MGS didn't exactly like interpreting things for themselves. So the obvious need for another MGS comes along. Kojima still not wanting to ruin the way he ended the series opts for a prequel instead. As retcon heavy as it was (if you're familiar with the original MSX titles) the game was still great and since most MGS fans dont know much about MG and MG2, the rewrites it had weren't really a bad thing. Again this was supposed to be the very last MGS game. Kojima had been wanting to step away from MGS since MGS2 released to and return to other franchises like Policenaughts, Snatcher, and ZOE while also pursuing new IPs like the zombie MMO he kept talking about......but of course fans loved MGS3 and considering how popular it was at the time it only made sense for Sony to want MGS4 to make a splash on the PS3. So then Kojima puts out the extreme garbage Portable Ops as a way to bridge his way into the events of MGS4. A game that ruins all impact MGS3 might have had and the game that ruins Frank Jaeger (among other characters and plot details). Then comes MGS4, again HIS LAST GAME EVUR! Now you mentioned the story being done as a reason why Kojima would not make another MGS. Between MGSPO and MGS4 there is absolutely no reason to believe the story has any integrity left. Kojima made major story crushing retcons in these games. To the point that if you want to accept one part of MGS4 as canon you must completely ignore other major plot points that occurred earlier in the series. Story consistency took a hit with MGS3, but all out died with PO and MGS4. At this point Kojima could make up whatever the hell he wants and call it MGS. Hell he brought back big boss from being shot up to hell and literally burnt to a crisp! But anyways MGS4 was to be his last title...... Oh, but look here comes Peace Walker!
Seriously, since Kojimas "last MGS title" he has made
And though he is not the director, he has Rising in the pipeline.
Kojima seems to hate making MGS titles from the way he talks, but he is also stuck with it. On one hand there is the constant demand for a new MGS. Its Kojimas claim to fame and its a lot of money to turn away from. On the other hand, Kojima seems to have an obsession with the series himself. Its like a strange love/hate relationship.
There will inevitably be an MGS5. Its just obvious based on his track record. Besides that, he has said time and time again that if fans keep wanting MGS they will keep getting it.
Sorry for the long post, but a lot of people on SW tend to want everything spelled out. :P
MGS is done man. 4 is the end. Everything is a spinoff from here on out unless it involves Big Boss.Parasomniac
4 didnt really wrap anything up though. :?
It was more like a crappy alternate universe that doesn't mesh up with the rest of the series at all. Kojima could come out and say MGS4 was just a dream Snake had and it would make more sense. Then release a non crappy version of MGS4. That would be sooo awesome!
Kojima once claimed that Peace Walker and Rising are just different "versions" of Metal Gear Solid 5. Ultimately, I think the old number system will fall by the wayside. It's over. But the series will continue and eventually a new number system will pop up (ie. Metal Gear Solid Rising 2).
Snake is long dead, lets leave it at that
MGS is a golden franchise that i hope never will be milked.
i want Kojima to work on Zone of the Enders 3 with ALL his effort!
4 didnt really wrap anything up though. :?sandbox3dWhat didn't it wrap up? Patriots, Ocelot, Big Boss, Snake, Naomi, Vamp. All gone. It pretty much wrapped everything up. There's not too many loose ends floating around now.

Oh wow.
The fanchise IS MILKED ALREADY.
And Snake being dead, (which he never actually died in MGS4) would have no major bearing on anything. Kojima has already proven that "death" in the MGS world means nothing. He expected us to believe that the shot up, burnt to a crisp, corpse of Big Boss was somehow recovered from Outer Heaven and reconstructed over a decade later to simply walk up, give another speech and die. He expected us to believe that Liquids arm was grafted onto Ocelot in MGS2, bringing Liquid back to existence, but then in MGS4 retcons it again into something almost just as absurd. There are so many instances of crap like this lol. Seriously I'm tired of typing crap about MGS, but you guys gotta realize there IS NO CONSISTENCY.

Big Boss was already wrapped up back in the 8 bit days, so there was need for what they did at the end. Vamp wrapped up? The Patriots? Ocelot/Liquid? If you really believe that stuff was wrapped up then I suggest another play through of MGS/MGS2 (especially MGS2).
MGS4 largely ignored the previous games in the series and simply went for an abrubt meaningless ending. Unless we are to ignore MG/MG2 and MGS1, 2 and to a lesser extent 3, then there is still much that has not been explained.
Maybe I should blame myself for thinking the way I do about the series, but many others do agree, trust me.
If you are an MGS fan that just casually plays the games in passing, like you played each game once, or twice and dont really know the story and all the details, then I could see how you might think the series had a real conclusion with MGS4. But otherwise...
i def. want another metal gear game. I also am tired of hearing about a zone of enders game... seriously (for myself), mech type games are the worst haha. I would be fine with them making a brand new franchise in the vein of mgs..

It would have to be a prequel since Snake doesn't have long to live. Kojima has no shame. If he wants to bring Snake back he will. Considering what has been done to the characters over the years I wouldnt be surprised in the least. "Child genius Sunny finds a way to revearse the aging process!", or "They find a way to reconstruct Snake like how they did with BB!". There were many clones of the old man, not just Solid, Liquid and Solidus. Who is to say Raiden doesnt infiltrate an old Patriot lab to salvage parts lol. Kojima originally had plans for the end of MGS4 were Snake actually meets his end and their would be no question. One of which being Snake and Otacon turning themselves in for the crimes they commited while operating Philanthropy, and being executed. Another was Snake simply taking himself out. But did you notice that Snakes ending is left open at the end of MGS4? Kojima left himself a crutch. Simple as that. The MGS series used to be held to a standard. As ridiculous as things would get, there was always a point were they just said "no, this is not good". Not anymore though. I am positive that there will be an MGS5. As for Snakes return? Not as likely, but not out of the cards either.[QUOTE="spookykid143"]It would have to be a prequel since Snake doesn't have long to live. Kojima has no shame. If he wants to bring Snake back he will. I was strarting to think everyone on this board thought Kojima has some gold standard. This is MGS. The rules have been thrown out. The fact that Big Boss made an appearance at the end (among dozens of other inconsistencies) should be a huge red flag indicating "hey there are no rules to this story people!".

REALLY??? METAL GEAR SOLID 2???
That Game ended HORRIBLY! It was a Great Game, Yeah but seriously, That Game left so many Plot Holes at the end, Snake didn't catch Ocelot, There was a Metal Gear still loose and at the end we find out about the Patriots....
A Story that leaves you Thinking to come up with your own ending sucks...
I HOPE that doesn't happen, as much as I loved MGS4 (and trust me, I LOVED it) I don't want another MGS, MGS4 had a great ending with lots of plot twists. It ended and revealed everything left from the story that I can think of. Just leave it at that.
Also, does anyone else feel that MGS:R will get an A or AA (at most) score? I don't know but from what we've seen, the sword gameplay and such, though very precise, looks...how do I say this....wierd. Something about it is just off, and not as smooth and easy as, say Ninja Gaiden. They're completely different controls but like I said, the gameplay just seems off.

Well that is your opinion and the opinion of many others as well. I personally liked it. It made for years of great discussions for the fanbase.
Also there were no plot holes in MGS2 (that I am aware of). Its actually the only game in the series that was clean in that sense. Intentionally not answering every question is not the same as a plot hole. MGS3 has quite a few and MGS4 is full of them from the start.
I would have rather been left guessing about certain aspects than having the "wrap up" we got with MGS4. It was an ending Kojima never intended to make and it shows. He tried to answer every series question with the almighty........NANOMACHINES YAY!
Sure they used it to explain why Vamp was apparently immortal, but it still didnt explain his thrist for blood, his ability to run up walls and across water at super human speeds and his ability to swim in extremely low bouyancy fluids.
They tried writing off Liquid Ocelot as a blend of hypnosis and nanos, yet that does not explain the memories Ocelot has in MGS2, nor the fact that he has two heartbeats (Dmic), or the voice changes......or even his overall goals.
I could go on forever. MGS4 was just a lazy uninspired ending to a brilliant series.

Horrible ending?
SPOILERS!
Big Boss explains in the end that when Liquid died and Ocelot replaced his arm with Liquids, it wasn't that Liquids conciousness somehow took over Ocelot's. It was all a plan to take down Zero, Ocelot injected himself with nanomachines causing him to forget all about his own being and act like Liquid. Not all Metal Gears have to be destroyed, the whole point of the story was that it all began with them, and it will end with them. They were heroes, but in order to take out the darkness, they had to kill themselves. Hence the sentence "Wherever there is light, there will always be shadow" and then they say that you must get rid of the light, in order to get rid of the shadow. Big Mamma, The Boss, Big Boss, Liquid, Ocelot, Zero, Snake, it applied to them all, they all must be killed in order for everything to end. I found it to be a fantastic ending to the series.

MGS5 will come running soon enough. I dont understand the love the MGS4 garnered from fans. I would think you would be insulted at how pathetic they make snake look in his end, by the entire last sequence that is ridiculous. How do people swallow "nanomachines" so easily, or pretty much anything to do with the whole debacle that is Ocelot in the final game. alextherussian
It didn't garner love from the core fans though. And we didn't swallow the crap they tried to feed us.
MGS4 pretty much killed every MGS message board on the net. Guys I've been talking to online for over a decade disappeared. There was an initial shock, then disgust, then everyone just moved on.
Most of the people you hear going on about how great MGS4 is either just got into the series with MGS4, or only played the old games once or twice at their release times and forgot what actually happened.

I guess, this board can make sometimes make it seem as if the game is sent from the gods above. Personally I just wanted to chuck my controller and do violent things to my TV at the last 2 hour cutscene.hinestly, i think its done, what i would like to see is a prequel to mgs, like one of snakes missions that made him the legend that he is, maybe another big boss game, or a prequel to mgs, would be awesome.

Lionhart tried warning all the fans and we didnt listen lol.
Why? is it just because Snake dies? Or are there some serious plot holes? or both? I have only beaten 1 and 4 btw.
I'd say you should play the others some time and form your own opinion. You may not see it like I do.
But the game really ruined many characters, brought back others for no reason, retconed tons of major plot points and tried writing off to many things in an absurd manner. It left a lot to be desired. Many things that fans were accustomed to were either dumbed down or altogether left out.
You should really run through MGS2 and MGS3 if you get the chance though. Brilliant games.
