So yeah, Anthem just became a big NO buy for me

I was curious to try the demo out and lo and behold... it cant be played without a PS+ subscription. Thats f*cking disgusting if more and more game start to require a paid subscription AND its full retail price in order to be played. Both Destiny and The Division can be played without a paid subscription so why must Anthem? Even if I only want to play solo? I really, really hope players start to stand up to this bs as much as they have on microtransactions and loot boxes.

Fvck this cr4p. Not buying Anthem just became an easy decicion for me. I'll stick with Warframe, thank you

Some folks think it's better for gamers to pay to play online games for games they bought while you don't pay to play online if its free. So, there lies part of the problem, the demand for free online for free to play games vs free online across the board.

Same with SFV. Because.. give money, because.

Just play on Steam, no charge, crossplay. Poor PS users getting chumped.

They said they'd require Xbox Live or PS+ for the demo a while ago. Play it on PC if you don't want to have to pay for a sub.

Unfortunately my PC isnt powerful enough to handle a game like this. Cr4p like this is what's making me want to go full PC gaming in the near future

I have EA Origin Premier and I'm treating Anthem as a "free-2-play" cause this actually want it is or rather, it should have been free-2-play from the start. Playing this on PC is the way to go and after looking at DF, they even straight up said Anthem on PC is the superior version.

I like what I played from the VIP Demo, the only game's saving grace is you can fly like Ironman style is all it has going for and I'm glad it's part of EA Origin Premier cause I sure wasn't gonna pay full price for this game lol.

The game isn't demanding unlike Metro Exodus, it ran easily on my PC.

Will never understand what the big deal is paying for Gold or PSN. I usually download 6+ games on each network that would cost me more then the sub cost. I also only buy PSN and Gold when they are on sale. You can stack them so if you see a good deal jump on it.

I liked Andromeda and Inquisition, I still had hope that Bioware could make a great game. No lies here.

Honestly, after playing the demo the game is either an 8 or 9. Graphics are amazing, game is really fun.

Don't know but it was boring as sh*t. I have a feeling it will be but I wanted to see what the fuss was about, the demo was literally go walk up to a guy he says some crap about some parts that you need to upgrade, then you walk to the suit and you're out in the open with it along with 3 other guys and ever since then go to some small arena kill some bullet sponge enemies, rinse and repeat while a guy was saying some incomprehensible crap over the radio or something. I couldn't figure out. Apart from the pretty graphics, I don't see how that grind is enjoyable when the shooting it self isn't any fun at all. I mean all this time I didn't feel like there was a challenge or I was taking any damage.

The demo sucked... Loading everywhere. It was nothing like Destiny as it was hyped to be originally. On console the frame rate is horrible. Its all over the place. No buy for me.

Will the same apply to the full game?

Anyways I thought the demo was decent, they definitely need to improve performance. Supposedly this is an old build and the full version will be better.

If they add a performance mode for the One X, I'll consider getting it when it's discounted.

Yeah, heard about that. Usually that means the game is using the platform's online services as their basis, but a game like this really should be running their own servers. Really doesn't make sense. Sucks, really.

Tried the demo for a few minutes on Origin. World and graphics was great. Ground gameplay was fine. Flying sucked. UI is horri-bad. Having to walk everywhere in the hub area was the worst. Heard they're going to change them for the full release, so I uninstalled and went back to wait-and-see mode.

Considering I heard they're going to be releasing with just 3 end-game Strongholds, one of which is a re-skin of another, I feel like this game won't reach anywhere near its potential until at least 6 months after launch. Personally, I'd wait for that.

Enjoying the game so far. I think it is somewhat weak in the gunplay aspect but the improvement from the old vip demo to this demo was substantial. The gameplay to me already has longer legs than destiny because you have more options in combat and movement. I dunno how the story will pan out or how good the characters will be but they show potential. I don’t have other friends on board to play with me yet but I think i’ll Still have a good time going through the game for a while.

I love the game and think it's cool. I love the flying and shooting mechanics, it feels different from other loot shooter games.

It basically feels like Destiny Effect: Andromeda. The controls and overall feeling of the game is like ME: A, but with that co-op of Destiny and Borderlands. Except they added flying, which is cool, but still the in-air stuff and dodging and everything just feels like ME: A.

With that said, I thought the demo was fun enough (played it on PC). Not sure if the game, let alone the genre (not big on Destiny, Borderlands, Warframe) is for me so I am not the best judge.

I won't ever get into Anthem, but for several other reasons. I have no issue with paying PSN Gold, but there is something about Anthem that doesn't seem that good. I really want to try the flying mechanic since it looks really fun, but aside from that ... meh.

Yes, I understand the EA hate. I don’t agree with it because then I’d have to hate all of the major producers but I understand. I also understand the issues with the load times and login, no excuses. I can even understand why some people dislike the gunplay, everyone has their own tastes.

But good lord does this game get some ridiculous hate for no reason.

I feel bad for people who love online games having to pay for a subcription on ps4 or Xbox one. The only online game I ever cared about was Gta Online and I had my fill back on the ps3.

I too like Anthem and the demo pretty much proceeded my expectations so I'm on-board with Anthem but then again, that's only because I have EA Origin Premier and Anthem is part of Premier title because I'll play the game for free (if we can call that but take it for what you will) and I'm treating it a free-2-play so, no point in me hating on it. I really like the flying parts of the game which sold me.

Even Digital Foundry stated the PC version is the best and the consoles version faces framerate drops. But that's to be expected from a console though, low framerates and nothing surprises me.

@boxrekt: Unless you have EA Premier membership, I wouldn't bother with this game at all. Best to play the Demo and it's more then enough to satisfied you.

The flying is pretty awesome imo!

Seems boring, especially playing solo. Many of the skills are specifically made to be combined with each other from my understanding. So I guess this PS+requirement saved you from making a dumb purchase.

Well, best case scenario, if this game tanks, EA can just sell Bioware to Microsoft.

I thought you were going to complain about the game. The reason for me is it's a tad bit confusing and Freeplay looked to be a mess, no enemies to fight. Seems like a shallow game from what i've played. But i'm still on the fence about buying it.

Maybe the full version will be better? Going to try it on EA Access for the 10hr trial an see. The whole PS+/Xbox Live requirement does suck but I expected that, same as Destiny.

You know what would work better? If all players stopped paying for PS+. You should get people to stop paying for PS+, not for the games. If no one paid for PS+, they would just make it free.

I'm getting it for the $20 a month I pay for Premier, so i'm super excited. I also get a bunch of other good games for the price, but i'm still looking forward to Anthem.

You created a thread over MS charging for f2p games and yet MS and SONY are charging for a demo, and this is all you can come up with.

You can still play a considerable amount of destiny without plus/gold. thats why this particular case is bothering me, cause none of anthem can be played without it, even if you only want to play solo, wich is bs
