Are you goping to make thread about Last remnant being on two disc, infiniteundiscovery on 2 disc, Lost opdyssey on 4 disc. are you going to make a thread about those ?
The fact that it is appearing on a non-Blu-Ray system and working perfectly fine pretty much confirms that blu-ray is useless. That's my comment.Well SO4 will officially be on three disc whats your thoughts on this? Any comments on blu ray is useless now?

Only when the blu ray is useless comments stops :P jk Just wanted to see waht everyone thinks about it.
Probably about 10 to 50 cents. Blank disks aren't that expensive when bought in bulk. How much more does it really cost to go 3 discs over blu-ray though ? Anyone have any clue ?

Debating is what SW is made for.I can't believe people are seriously trying to debate with the TC.
You people must be really bored, because mutli-disc RPGs have been releasing on the 360 for quite some time now.

I was merely stating that blank DVDs bought in bulk are very very cheap which is probably the reason why games for PC and such haven't began releasing on blu-ray becacuse it's so much more expensive. And yes there are blu-ray drives though they cost an arm and a leg.How much more does it really cost to go 3 discs over blu-ray though ? Anyone have any clue ?

The good thing about multiple discs is that you can lend the game to a friend without finishing the whole thing first.PripyatThe bad thing is if your friend looses one of the disc you will never be able to play that game again from start to finish.(without buying a new copy) Happened to me once. :?

Yes this type of licensing was confirmed by John Carmack, Rage will only be on 2 discs on 360 when it needs 3, but the licensing is too high, so instead they are decreasing the texture quality and sound quality in the xbox version. The ps3 version will use full textures and full sound... The only games that don't get licensing fees from M$ are games published by M$ like lost odyseey ...but m$ did payoff se so who knows? How much more does it really cost to go 3 discs over blu-ray though ? I don't know why but if this was on PS3 I have a feeling that there is a 50/50 chance that you have to take 5 minutes to install the game at 3 periods during the course of the game, like in MGS4.
Blu Ray might save you having to get up, but I would rather do that than wait 5 minutes.
Who knows? Maybe the PS3 wouldn't need to install it multiple times....
Well the idea that you can lose or damage a single disk and the entire game becomes unplayable isn't fun. I lost the first disk of Metal Gear Solid so I can't play it. I don't want to buy it again because I had an original MGS and I don't want some greatest hits one. Also, what do I do with the second disk? Sell it on ebay with the case? Having one disk just make it easier. Especially with games that have 3 or 4 disks like Final Fantasy 7 and 8(games I own).
Also I think the idea of multi-disks games are kinda of thought of as in the past. I can't recall either the PS2 or Xbox having multi-disks games, don't know about gamecube. This is just me trying to remember off the top of my head. But going back to something that happened 2 generations ago seems like a a step backwards. Not hating on the topic, just saying that's how some people may feel.
If multi-disk games are a problem, and mandatory installs are a problem, I have a idea! Use cartridges! They load faster then disks, and the way storage is going, you could probably fit a lot on cartridges. My little usb stick can hold 8 gigs and it's as big as my thumb! Imagine what a cartridge the size of dvd could hold! That's a lot of gigs! Plus they're harder to break! Ok I'm done.
Guess the sarcasm...
No problem with multiple disks myself. Would definatley buy it...if I could :(.

With multiple discs, undecisiveness comes in...Should i buy the game again? Will i ever find that 1 lost disc? what should I do!? :P
Japanese RGP developers need to learn some compressing techniques, they should try asking Bethesda, Rockstar or Udisoft. How the hell was lost Odyssey on 4 discs when epic games like Oblivion, Fallout 3, GTA4 and Assassins Creed fit on one. paul265You forget how many long cut scenes are in RPGs. I like games that do not use compression. You get a better build with the sound and visual quality.
The only reason it's on 3 discs - the same reason for Blue Dragon, Lost Odessey and Last Remnant being on multiple discs - is that Japanese developers haven't let go of their dependance on CGI video for cut scenes. This is an outdated method that is unnecessary today when in-game graphics engines are more than capable of beautifully depicting the cinematics in story telling. Just look at WRPGs like Mass Effect, Oblivion, and Fallout 3, that are loaded with hours of gameplay, and still fit on a single DVD9.
Now I can already see the counter-argument. "Adobe, you're complaining about CGI video being outdated and unnecessary with better alternatives available. Can't the same be said of DVD9 today when there's a better alternative in BluRay?" The difference is, Blu Ray costs the gamer more in money, whereas the implementation of in-game cinematics rendering over CGI costs us nothing, and still allows games to fit on 1 disc. Plus Blu Ray being in it's early stages of technical development still carries hinderances to gaming, mainly in the form of slower drive speeds to DVD.
