i agree with this 10 thousand percent. socom4 is better than gears3 because it has better graphics, it will score better, it will sell better and more people will be on socom4 in my eyes. like the tc said, socom4 is how you should a thirdperson shooter IMHO

I'm aware how the camera works in Socom. However, unless you plan on pressing L1 everywhere you go so that the camera is comfortable be prepared to get shot repeatedly from all angles but the front.

behind camera view is better when ur not zooming up.

Not when you character is so close to the camera. but here you are talking preference vs good or bad design.

new things in socom 4 that part one didnt have. prone crawl dive cant jump and shoot part 1 you could. melee combat added in socom 4. sprinting in socom 4 part 1 didnt have it. over the shoulder view just a few examples.

They added stopping power, if someone is shooting you while you're running you would slow down so you couldn't just rush up to someone and shot gun em in the face like in Gears 1. You can't shoot immediately after a roll so you can no longer roll up to someone and shotgun them in the face. Chainsaw duels were added, you're no longer invincible while chainsawing an enemy, you can now pick up downed enemies and use them as shields, you can tag grenades to the environment and use them like proximity mines. You can now crawl while downed, you can blow yourself up while downed if you had a grenade in hand when you were downed.

It completely changed how Gears is played in multiplayer, it's the most change I've seen in sequel that didn't outright change everything about the series. If you feel Gears 2 didn't change enough then either you don't play Gears or nothing short of a reboot would have pleased you.

What are you saying? Gears isn't about platforming, the second part was just a glitch that doesn't even occur any more and the last part only happens you your sprint dirrectly into a wall. I play Gears all the time, the game doesn't just simply attach you to wall just because you were running near it.

in there's a hole with a railing and staircase leading down to the hole, you can just jump over railing down there dont even need to use the staircase except to get back up. in gears of war you'd have to walk all around railing and down the staircase to get down there.

in there's a hole with a railing and staircase leading down to the hole, you can just jump over railing down there dont even need to use the staircase except to get back up. in gears of war you'd have to walk all around railing and down the staircase to get down there.

Could you provide a real scenario in a Gears map where this is an issue? Coudl you explain why this concept is so hard to adjust to as well? Personally I never saw any rails that looked like I could climb over them given the general shape and size of the object the player usually vaults over in game and even then I can't think of any rails in game that were placed where I've want to jump over them.

yes, on canals there's a log cabin with whole wall blown off and u cant jump through broke wall to the ground below. you gotta walk up and down staircase.

i got name of map wrong. on gears 1 there's a multiplayer map manson it's a 2 story manson. u cant jump over the railing to the lower level you gotta use the staircase. in socom 4 you could just jump over railing to get down there and use staircase to get up. in gears you gotta use staircase to get up or down. NO JUMPING=MORE LINEAR GAMEPLAY FOLLOWING MORE LINEAR PATH.

If you don't want to go up there, thats fine, you can let the enemy come to you. The action does not take place entirely in the mansion, actually, alot of the fighting is in the outside for the boomshot. Besides, both teams have equal access to the top level of the Mansion, so it's not exactly unfair.

More like ten feet, regardless, there are no five foot drops in Gears. There are no drops. Player movement is predictable in all games. Once a player spends enough time in any game they learn all the routes. There is nothing wrong with this.

*Looks at the scores* Do I really need to say anything on the subject? Killzone 3 tried to be more accesible, the changes weren't necesarrily an improvement, they just tried to grab the Call of Duty crowd. If you don't like the movement of Gears then don't play it, play something else. It doesn't need to become a generic shooter to please you.

More like ten feet, regardless, there are no five foot drops in Gears. There are no drops. Player movement is predictable in all games. Once a player spends enough time in any game they learn all the routes. There is nothing wrong with this.

the fact is u cant jump over any railings or fall down from any platforms that proves no jumping sucks.

killzone 1 didnt have jumping and they added it in killzone2. how come killzone dev's arent scared to improve gameplay and gears of war fans are afraid of change?

it does need jumping because im sick of having to walk down a staircase just to get to a lower level when if i had a jump i could of just jumped over the railing and got down there faster.
