Someone explain to me WHY Halo 3 is so EPIC

When Halo released it left all other FPS's in the dust. All of them! That goes for everything PC as well. Just because you can mod the hell out of your PC FPS's does not make them control or play any better. I don't care if you can mod Halo and Halo 2 on the PC either. Those games are the best in there original state.

Go ahead and rest your hopes on the next games, such as COD4, Unreal 3, Haze, Crysis, and Killzone 2.

They are all fillers until we get our Halo 4.

Um..I hate WoW and rpg's in general. I play fps and strictly fps.

The Music, the score, the amount of enemies on screen, going through armies of aliens (and zombie), jumping from planet to planet -galaxy to galaxy to galaxy, the whole sense of "end of the universe" happening right in front of your eyes is by difinition "epic".

The leve where you battle two scarabs at once is breath taking, It was like a preview of Halo Wars or something.

It's a masterpiece plain and simple.

It's a waste of time to. If you dismiss the 50+ reviews that sayit isyou'll dismiss any opinion and reason that claims Halo 3 is "epic" so why bother listing what makes it great. It's been done ad nauseum in a number of other threads on here, the haters will hate anyway and these threads just get old.You wanna know what makes it great read the reviews.

We're not talking about one review. 58 reviews with a 94% average, when is the last time a game did that and wasn't widely considered an amazing game? The point is if someone is going to dismiss 50+ opinions that a game is amazing why would a couple more opinions make a difference? Why bother making a list of reasons a game is amazing when that list has been done over and over again and the people making these threads have ignored them? It's all a matter of opinion and if your opinion is Halo 3 isn't amazing fine but it's your opinion not fact and in point it's no more truthful than the opinions that it is amazing.

i never said halo 3 was the greatest game ever made, though i feel it's definitely above just average. but anyway back to your questions...

halo 3 is hard to explain other than just fun. i feel that halo 3 is not the best in every aspect of gameplay but has more variety in gameplay than most games. this veriety, in my eyes, makes up for it's faults. sure the friendly AI sucks, yea the graphics aren't the best i've seen but IMO doesn't really effect the fun factor of the game. it has great gunplay coupled with good cinemactic moments, and moments that really reward the player; few things i've experienced in a game is more rewarding when you finally bring down a scarab. o yea there is one thing better....bringing down two scarabs! :P

i don't know it's just everything i like in a game halo has. i'm sorry if this wasn't the kind of answer you were looking for but i can't explain it any better than that.

imo, if millions of people hype it and millions of people enjoy it then no, it's not over hyped.

I'll take a shot at this: You're riding around on the back of an ATV with a rocket launcher with a dozen friendly NPCs while trying to take out the legs of a 40 ft walking tank. After bringing it to it's knees you rip a missle pod off a nearby turret, climb a tower, and drop onto said walking tank (Scarab) where you engage a contingent of Covenant troops. Battling your way to the back of the tank you fire the missle pod into the power core until it overloads. halo 3 is hard to explain other than just fun. i feel that halo 3 is not the best in every aspect of gameplay but has more variety in gameplay than most games. this veriety, in my eyes, makes up for it's faults. sure the friendly AI sucks, yea the graphics aren't the best i've seen but IMO doesn't really effect the fun factor of the game. it has great gunplay coupled with good cinemactic moments, and moments that really reward the player; few things i've experienced in a game is more rewarding when you finally bring down a scarab. o yea there is one thing better....bringing down two scarabs!:P

Put like that, it sounds ridiculous, but in reality, a game that features a good soundtrack can truly make you heart pound. But that's my point. Halo is an unispired game that has decent gameplay and a nice soundtrack. Throw in a catchy slogan, a number 3, and a 10 million dollar ad campaign, and there you have it, Halo 3.

you're making it sound like music is the most important part of the game. i'm saying that without excellent gameplay (which halo 3 does have) music means nothing. i can't see how you can say it's just decent. no amount of music can make a average game great, it just doesn't work that way.

Hey "Dude," I'm not pretending about anything. I play fps games competitively on pc and was curious as to why Halo 3 was so good compared to other fps's. So please, don't jump to conclusion. As for Snakes on a Plane, that's a movie in a different field of entertainment.

Uh no. Did you not read what I said? I said Halo 3 specifically was advertised a lot, not every single game which has come out on the system.

Hey "Dude," I'm not pretending about anything. I play fps games competitively on pc and was curious as to why Halo 3 was so good compared to other fps's. So please, don't jump to conclusion. As for Snakes on a Plane, that's a movie in a different field of entertainment.

I love how people can't accept it's a good game for many people. You don't like it fine. I hate Final Fantasy but I don't make threads about it. It's a well known, famous, well sold and I believe well rated franchise as well.

If you dont like something that's fine. But don't bash it because you hate it or are jealous of it. To try and demean those who like it because you can't except that there are Millions who love what you hate and bash.
