Damn, depending how you look at it the team behind last guardian had the BEST job in the industry, they got to collect salary for almost a decade with nothing to show for it with no pressure and no deadlines to meet during the entire ride because many moons ago the were proficient at the job they were presently employed but failed to do; they must be union. If all sony studios are run this way no wonder they are hurting :)

Team Ico and Rare, both are handled poorly by Sony and Microsoft respectively. Both were great devs. Seems like Sony likes scripted Third Person Shooters way too much.

MS took an ex Rare employee Ken Lobb and made him consultant/supervisor of the new KI. He led the team that made the game first Double Helix (who was bought out by Amazon) and now Iron Galaxy.

Interesting, that makes more sense honestly, I wondered how/why they made a "core" game in amongst all the casual dreck.
How disappointing, I actually picked up a PS3 because I thought this game would see the light of day at some point -- Ico and SOtC were two of my favourite games of their generation.
Don't worry, I'm sure Sony have a few indies lined up to replace

@R4gn4r0k: Only Sony knows for sure. My guess is team ico had a lot of internal conflicts and maybe key employees left the company or were moved to other studios by Sony management. Everyone knows last guardian went through development he'll last gen and it looks like it didn't go through all the way past beta/alpha. Team ico belongs to Japan studios and Japan studios helped other 2nd/3rd party studios make games like from soft with demon souls, the studio responsible for journey and others like loklore.
