:roll: The "no you don't know!" game doesn't work when you can't be bothered to understand the difference between the NSA's PRISM plan and what a typical TOS is.

Here's the difference in the simplest terms.

Sony's TOS says that they have data -- which is your sign up data you knowingly provided, as well as IP address --, but will only release it if authorities ask for it via a warrant due to connection to a crime or other offense. After that data has been released to the third party (the police, FBI, gov., etc.) they're not responsible for it anymore in terms of what happens with that investigation. This is typical and accepted because you've elected to give them your data willfully and you understand it can be acquired through proper legal channels.

Microsoft is giving the NSA access to their products without reason for you to be monitored. Using the products is consent, even though they didn't ask for it. Your Skype conversations/account information/location/etc. are now easily accessible by the NSA at will, no matter how private you think they are.

A Terms of Service is not PRISM. Comparing them is inane. But since you'd rather play the Xbox Fanboy defens MS at all costs game, it's pretty much pointless to hope you'd realize this. You just don't want to.

If you guys really think those are the only 9 companies involved in prism I have a bridge to sell you. Also I didn't see anyone point this out, so I am going to highlight the important info for you:

"We may share the personally identifying information of our website users with our affiliates of our website users with our affiliates in the Sony group family of companies and other third parties who assist us with fulfilling your requests, clear and verify transactions, deliver and administer products, content or services, manage and enhance customer data, store and maintain our database records, provide customer service, detect fraud or illegal activities"

I heard people got malware and trojans installed on their PCs from Sony software to spy on their consumers. Sony got sued and lost millions from what I remember.

Microsoft's participation in the NSA's surveillance programs may be more extensive than previously thought. New documents from whistleblower Edward Snowden obtained by The Guardian claim that Microsoft has worked with US intelligence agencies to provide streamlined access to its services, including Outlook.com, Hotmail, Skype, SkyDrive, and more. Over the last three years, Microsoft has reportedly assisted the FBI and NSA in encryption bypassing its products' encryption that would otherwise prevent the interception of web chats, emails, and user data. Most notably, the company allowed the agencies to collect video and audio from conversations made through Skype, which it acquired in 2011.

Microsoft, along with other tech giants like Google and Apple, were implicated last month when the NSA's PRISM surveillance and data collection program was first revealed. Microsoft denied having any prior knowledge of the program.
