Huh? I did say I like a bit of baiting but you obviously don't understand the thread sorry. I asked the sony fans when it would overtake the 360 and fail to see how I was trying to lure in 360 fans...

What you need to understand is that most sony supporters believe the PS3 will outsell the 360 and so the thread is phrased that way so they can come and post predictions. The finest failure here has been your mis-representation of what I was trying to achieve.

I fully understand the thread is about PS3 fans, and I'm cool with that. My problem is, you stated that you like "baiting" without anyone asking. Why the need to do that? Even at first I didn't think you were baiting, until you randomly felt the need to point out you enjoy doing it. Why? Don't act like you didn't "mean to" and you were "unaware." Because that's plain dumb.

that MGS4 + PS3 bundle could be one of Sony's trump card.. If that plan succeeds, then it's possible that LBP, Resistance, and/or other huge hitters coming out this year might end up being on a bundle. They'll probably bundle it anyway even if it fails; but that PS3 / MGS4 bundle DID attract a lot of people.. Who knows how many preorders have been sold ever since it became available. I heard somewhere that it was already sold out at the Konami's store site..

if Sony gave the PS3 another price cut then it could be a huge blow for the 360 since the 360's price cut back in Europe didn't even fazed the PS3 hence PS3 dominated it.

In 2005 I heard it would be 2006 as soon as the PS3 launched. Then there was a delay and it would overtake it by the end of 2007 for sure. Then 2008 rolls around and it still hasn't really made any major dent in 360 sales or lead. Then it was going to be Christmas 2008 but that isn't looking likely either....

So when will it be? Is it now summer 2009? Christmas 2009? Summer 2010? Sony needs to be doing double the 360 sales worldwide every month from now until 2010 to stand a chance of overtaking it so do you think this is possible?

Nobody here really knows or the ps3 will out sell the 360 or not, but come on man, common sense, no fanboy goggles on. Seriously man look at the price of the ps3, its still 400 and 500 dollars. If the ps3 can out sell the 360 even though the 360 is cheaper then the ps3, and the 360 has a way better library of games then the ps3 and also add the fact that the ps3 has not even had any of its big exclusives out. What do u think is going to happen when sony drops the ps3 to 299 and has alot of its big hitters out by then. When I talk about big hitters these are games as big as gears of war 2. What do u think is going to happen? I think its quite obvious the ps3 will start doing some damage, and im not even talking about just having normal week sales where they sold like 10,000 more units then microsoft, im thinking the ps3 will start having sales where they sell out everywhere like the wii is doing. Just look at it the wii and 360 has already had those months where they were constantly selling out everywhere, but the 360 has been slowing down ever since the ps3 and wii has been in the picture. Has the ps3 even had any sell outs yet? I dont remember one month where it said it seems like u cant find a ps3 in any stores. Why? Because the price is so ridiculously high man. If they bring them damn prices down to 299 I can see ps3's starting to sell out especially when alot of its big hitters are coming out. I dont see it happening this year, but I think towards the end of 2009 if sony is smart and drops the price this holiday season to 299 as I expect them to. If they dont, then they will dig them selves a even bigger whole to get out of. Sony needs to be smart. I mean they are losing money from each ps3, but if u dont make your install base bigger, then all the devs will eventually support the other 2 consoles that are doing better and then u may see the ps3 die from there.

Well from all the hype im thinking resistance 2 will sell over 5 million copies, and killzone 2 should look to sell around that uch aswell. Socom will sell very well aswell. If they make a Shadow of The Colosus, there goes another big hitter. God of War 3 should also be pretty big. MGS4, I seriously think it will sell 5 million copies easy. I wouldnt be suprise if it sells alot more.

The PS3 has yet to have a truely HUGE selling game (besides GTA)... None of the games currently on the PS3 have hit those strides.. (The 360 and the wii have more than a few titles to hit that mark).. That doesn't concern you when they're both selling pretty even...

For the games you listed, here are my predictions:

Resistance 2 - 3.5 to 5 million

Killzone 2 - 2.5 to 4 million million

SOCOM: Confrontation - 0.70 to 1 million

God of War 3 - 3.5 to 4.0 million

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots - 5 to 6 million

Why do I list Killzone 2 lower than Resistance 2? Even with a 3/4 month gap, they will still cannablize each other's sales as people may play Resistance 2 and decided Killzone 2 isn't worth moving onto.

My reasoning is that Metal Gear actually sells well in Japan, and I think they will be able to easily move 3 million units in Japan alone in the next 4 months. The PS3 has been very sluggish in Japan, but MGS will pick it up.

Supposedly, Namco, KCET, and Square-Enix are all working on RPGs for the PS3 as well. They will be announced at E3 in July, and some of them may be out in time for the holidays.

And in several canadian retail chains, it was on Kotaku.

It'll probably move like a 100,000 or so extra units over it's expected sales, same way the X360 sales jumped by 100,000 or so units at the Halo 3 release.

Oh yeah for sure, the biggest Sony supporters were basically saying that it would sell as many at launch as the 360 had in the months prior....then it was delayed again :P.

Why would something coming out on a different system 12 months later make me less excited about the game?

For the year of 2008 so far ........ the ps3 is ahead in NA (ever so slighly) , clearly ahead in Japan , and estimated to be well ahead in Europe so far ........ and MGS4 is coming up soon which will at least spike the Japan sales a bit for a brief time , so how is the 360 going to manage to finish second for the year ? Maybe a miracle pricedrop and insane NA sales could make up the difference worldwide but I don't really see that happening. The 360 will very likely to finish third for the year , this shouldn't be too hard to acknowledge even for the most hardcore 360 supporters.

PS3 outsold 360 worldwide in 2007 despite the 360 having arguably the best lineup of games in any year. 2007 was apparently a disaster for the PS3 and it still outsold the 360. I expect the gap to only widen in 2008 unless the 360 slashes prices drastically and even that hasn't seemed to help them in Europe. I expect PS3 to pass the 360 by summer 2009. MS KILLED Sony in North America in 2007. We all know this.

Japan only won by about a million Units in 2007. Not enough to make up for the other 2 places.

Verdict: Sony lost 2007 unless you can somehow prove it.

It won't. Check these figures if you would:

Halo 3 - 5 million units worldwide as of Dec. 2007 (http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117976843.html?categoryid=2525&cs=1)

I forget the actual statistics, but I think that the 360 sales in the non-US world as of right now are around 2.5 million. Take that away (even though not everyone included in that stat had a 360 by the other's timeframe, and not everyone had Halo 3, but just to play Devil's Advocate...) from the other Halo 3 sells, and you get 2.5 million Halo 3's in the US alone by Dec. 2007.

That's 60,000 less than the total PS3 sales. One game. Call of Duty 4 and GTA:4 are both selling more on the 360 also...

Don't get me wrong, I love the PS3. I love MSG more than Halo... The PS3 just won't win...
