Sony gets marketing rights for Star Wars: Battlefront

I imagine this will be the case. Either that or it's 900p on PS4 and 720p on Xbone like BF4 was.

Good job with Sony securing exclusive market rights, I imagine they'll sell tons of PS4s. I don't see Xbone selling better than PS4 this holiday season even with Halo 5. The Star Wars hype is just too real.

Hugely excited (and nervous) about the return of Battlefront, and the trailer looked cool. But who gets excited over which console paid to get their logo on the back of a multiplat's commercial? It's not exactly fooling many gamers, and if that's the aim, it's a crappy one to boot.

Sure. Halo Hype is also very real, and when MS advertises THAT game, they'll be actually be advertising an exclusive, where Sony is paying to advertise a game that will still ship day and date on the Bone.

Totally agree. The movie hype is just going to feed into the game's hype. Sony has really nabbed themselves a big one this time around. This deal is going to be even more powerful than Destiny was last year in moving PS4s.

Expected. With the right marketing and assuming the movie is good/popular, this might just be another Destiny for Sony.

There are two kinds of video game commercials:

1: Advertises the system and shows multiple shots of different games you can get. (Console focused)

2: Advertises a single game and shows the console for 2 seconds at the end. (Game focused)

Sony is doing #2 with Battlefront. No doubt Microsoft will be doing #2 with Halo 5 at the same time. Why would Microsoft do that with both of of those games? They're gonna want all the attention on Halo. I wouldn't even be surprised if EA asked them first since they're the only ones to offer EA Access and they turned it down.

As far as games coming to PS4 with a holiday release date, this makes the most sense for Sony- even over the God of War remaster or anything else they could secretly be planning for the holidays. Star Wars is the most hyped thing I've been seeing on social media lately.

Oh please. Star Wars the Movie has a HUGE hype machine rolling, but don't get that twisted up into thinking everyone who wants to spend 15 bucks to watch a 2 hour flick wants to spend 60 bucks on a shooter that has almost nothing to do with the movie.

Look, I liked the Battlefront games and I have high hopes for the next offering. But I also know none of the previous games approached the sales of the Halo games, even though the Battlefront series launched during the Last trilogy's run. And let's keep it real: Sony is paying at least some of the ad costs for the game so they can put their logo at the end of a commercial for about one second. The game is still launching on the XBone day and date, and few people out there can't figure that out. Do people think Madden is an XBox exclusive? Howsabout CoD? You're overselling the value of a logo placement compared to an actual exclusive game that's part of one of the most popular franchises out there. That's ridiculous.

Most viewed Sony exclusive game trailers on youtube:

• Bloodborne 6.8 million
• Driveclub 1.8 million
• The Order 5.4 million (TV Commercial)
• KZ Shadow fall 1.2 million

So a game that is exclusive to a console gets 7 million views in 3 weeks is a lot, and is amazing. The only thing that would trump this, is multi-platform games, but this is an exclusive.

Funny thing though so far asll the EXLUSIVE playstation dlc is also on pc, they just pay to keep it off xbox.
