What does this mean for Sony?

These games will be advertised only for PS4 with only PS4/PS4 Pro footage being shown. In addition, all of these except for Battlefront 2 have been confirmed to have PS4 exclusive content. Sony will also be able to create bundles with these games.

What's the point in having the most powerful console if you can't show off the biggest games on it? This was a very smart move by Sony. Microsoft is left with Shadow of Bore and AssCreed.

Sony also plans on releasing 1st party games in the 2nd half of the year. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy and Gran Turismo: Sport have both been confirmed for the 2nd half of 2017, they are bigger than any 1st party game that Microsoft has planned for 2017. Could we also see God of War or Spider-Man? Not to mention more Japanese titles being release in 2017 like Yakuza Kiwami and DQXI. Sony's just getting started.

Unless MS start combatting the fact that Sony have an exclusive Kojima game, Spiderman game, more first party stuff and the best japanese developers in their back pockets, Scorpio will get decimated. Like people are saying an exclusive Star Wars is too good to be true for Xbox but the fact is they actually need something of that calibur to compete with the PS4. MS have the money to make that happen, they should get on it.

Those deals will guarantee that PS4 and Pro will run those games perfectly, but it doesn't mean Scorpio will run them any worse. I think it's a win situation for everybody.

Hey look multiplats matter again. Unfortunately most of these games mostly focuses on online multiplayer gameplay which it looks like PS fans aren't really fond of. They rather play those movie games single player weeaboo style eastern type games not these western shooter type games. But let's break it down one by one:

1. Destiny 2. So the Xbox One will eventually get these exclusive content because it's basically a timed exclusive, big whoop. Lol. The first one also had a Sony marketing deal but overall the game received mixed reception. It looks like Sony cursed Bungie.

2. Battlefront 2. With EA Access exclusive to Xbox One, subscribers get discounts and next thing you know Battlefront 2 will be free in the Vault just like the first one. EA knows they could milk cows because they pay full price while give Xbox consumers discounts. Lol.

3. CoD: WWII. Haven't read any real news about this, just saw that leak picture. So anything else is just speculation. Lol. And besides this is a western shooter game which heavily relies on online multiplayer and cows here seem to prefer single player movie games with weeaboo type art style instead. Lol.

4. RDR2. Again, another game with hardly any news for. All we have so far is that trailer, so anything else is just speculation. But what's not speculation is that the first RDR was made backward compatible so Xbox could make the first one free with the purchase of RDR2. A very nice incentive for Xbox consumers. And speaking about BC, it's really nice knowing that games Xbox invest in will highly likely follow them on future consoles. While games on PS consoles, not so much. Lol.

So while the impact and affect of these marketing deals will vary, one thing for certain is that the Scorpio versions will be the definitive console version. I hope these games are good and sell tons. These gaming companies are free to choose to do business as they please. I mean if their games flop and doesn't do well, who's to blame, the console they made the marketing deal with? As you could see, these marketing deals can go either way.

Well Sony tends to focus on third party marketing deals to bolster its lineup in the fall/winter holiday to maintain with lack of first party ip during those months. Plus im noticing most of the games are multiplayer centric, something Sony first party games lack so beneficial for Sony to strike deals to bolster PSN.

MS has a lot of mulitplayer/co-op games coming this fall/winter so probably would be a bad idea striking up third party deals for the games mentioned.

@jtothamtothap: No Scorpio will have the exact same version. Frame rates and resolution can't change what content is available in the games (unless it's nintendo, as much as I love nintendo they do get shafted on standard features more than anyone else)

It's fantastic that MS are doing this, so in the future all Xbox consoles will be able to play 360 and probably OG Xbox games. Which means the Xbox 2 will be compatible with all Xbox games ever conceived if they include XB1 BC.

Cows get the commercials for Red Dead Redemption and Battlefield 2. Lems get the 4k version for both games. Personally I would prefer the better version of the game then cheering for Sony's marketing dept.

Game @ native 4K and 60FPS > Same game @ 1080 or checkerboard 4K and 30FPS

When the content is the same the visual is what the distinguishing factor will be. And fanboys can rant and rave all they want, but the fact of the matter is that games will look better on MS's console this year and moving forward until Sony releases their next iteration of PS.

I don't care what a company chooses to spend their money on to drive more sales for their platform. As long as they keep delivering games they can make as many 3rd party deals as they want.

Hate to be this guy but Marketing deals are one of the worst things on the gaming industries as of now because whoever signs a deal, that company get's to release DLC for timely exclusive and timely exclusive are one of the worst practice and why even lock down DLC when it should be release for everyone on day one. Both MS & Sony are guilty of this stupid marketing deals, it's just sad.

Granted, I'll be buying Destiny 2 on PS4 not because of this stupid marketing crap, it's the fact that I have lots of friends on PSN who are looking forward to Destiny 2 and as for the rest of those games above, I'll be getting them all on PC.

I'm not a corporate slave, so I couldn't care less quite frankly about marketing. Exclusive content could be a big deal depending on what it is, but ultimately, these are on both home consoles out right now so gamers win either way which is fine by me.

"Better version" doesn't really mean shit. Never meant shit. Doesn't change anything.

This kind of marketing really doesn't matter either. Both Sony and Microsoft try to promote 3rd party games on their platform. Microsoft did it a lot more last generation because they lacked exclusives. Sony must be attempting to take that avenue away from them. In reality it's a waste of time for Sony.

The fact is the PS4 has a massive head start and all of these games are coming out on the PS4, PS4 Pro, Xbox One, and, eventually the Scorpio. People know this no matter what the marketing says. What matters is who has the lead early on and where the exclusives lie. A quick "Is Battlefield One on the PS4" Google search nets you the answer. People aren't dumb.

Microsoft had the lead last generation and they rode that to high sales in North America throughout. Sony caught up to Microsoft, and surpassed the 360 sales, simply by putting out games people wanted to play. Exclusives matter.

Having the "better version" of a multiplatform game doesn't matter. All that matters is that the version that is on your machine works well (bad ports = bad press, PS3 suffered from that early on) and that you've got a social enough fanbase where their friends are going to be more apt to buy the consoles their friends already have.

The PC has always had the best version of multiplats, yet those games don't sell as well on the PC nor do they drive PC sales. Best version doesn't mean shit. Very few people in this world are going to forgo a big list of exclusives on a console their friends are telling them to buy just to play the "best" version of a game on both platforms.

Geez Sony are good at the ol' marketing deals to try to give them a boost aren't they... its what kept them going during 2014-15 when they had fu**-all games out.

Suppose they need something to give them a boost next to Scorpio.

The fact that PS4 also unloading a crapload of exclusives on top of this is amazing. There's no exclusives on Xbox and their multiplats sales will be subpar. It's not looking good for Xbox One. Hell that's been the case since launch.
