Sony is losing massive marketshare because they aren't innovating

Switch is a different beast. Talk about leggy, it's breaking sales records in its fifth year, it hasn't even had a price drop.

Name me all the big AAA third party titles on Switch that dropped day and date with the other platforms that a Nintendo fan would care about. I can't think of any. MH Rise proves that with effort, AAA hardcore can flourish on Switch, just like hardcore indies are selling way more on Switch than the other consoles.

The Switch accounted for....87% of all console sales in Japan in 2020. And in 2021 it's already extending beyond that.

That's how Switch just sold 28.8 million consoles in one year, while the best the PS4's best year was 20 million.

I'm not sure that decision has anything to do w/ PlayStation and even if COD were on Switch, it honestly wouldn't perform nearly as well as PlayStation for a number of reasons.

*Some* Switch third party AAA do much better but, pretty much only if it's a game that's tailored for Japan.

Nintendo is by far the number 1 console in Japan.

The only good AAA third party games the Switch got that wasn't a late port was MH Rise and it just sold gangbusters in NA and Japan.

Indies also sell gangbusters on Switch and they're as core as you can get.

There are politics keeping a few serious AAA franchises off of the Switch but I don't see that lasting much longer. Switch is becoming too big.

A Switch GTA or COD would do absolute gangbusters.

MH Rise made it to second place in the US on NPD which is staggering for a single console release, the best selling single console release in Capcom history.

No, what's pitiful is you trying to cling to some revenue article from last Feb claiming Sony as the market leader based on third party revenue and their much more expensive console when Switch has not only been dominating Sony in hardware sales and first software sales, but now they are winning in total dollar sales as well (revenue).

To put this in perspective, Switch is outselling the PS5 so badly, it's coming ahead in revenue despite PS5 costing $200 more, and $500 of revenue counted for Sony for each PS5 sale.

This is embarrassing.

Sony is now not only losing in console sales, and first party game sales to Nintendo, but also total revenue in the 2021 fiscal year.

Your argument is based on revenue from February sales. That was early 2021. The most recent data we have is from May, posted in June.

Switch has taken the lead in revenue dollar sales on top of destroying Sony in console sales and first party sales.

Sony needs Playstation to do gangbusters to keep them healthy as a company.

If the Switch continues to dominate Playstation sales and gets even deeper into the hardcore share of the market with recent massive successes like Monster Hunter Rise, and their 4k pro model, and if MS's Bethesda/Gamepass strategy pans out, things could get sticky.

look up game sales for switch and ps. funny how sony market share has grown over the years and has no signs of slowing down. um the ps4 sold 120 consoles im sure the same people are buying a switch to.

A game like COD or, GTA wouldn't sell that well on Switch compared to PlayStation or, Xbox; a big part imo is the fact that their online is barebones and isn't primed for competitive gaming.

There are very successful mainstream games like Fortnite, Apex Legends, Mortal Kombat 11, NBA 2K, FIFA, Crash Bandicoot, Tony Hawk Pro Skater etc. that simply don't do nearly as well compared to PlayStation or, Xbox. People honestly just don't buy the Switch to play those games. MH Rise fits the Switch mold very well in comparison.

PlayStation would be more worried about Final Fantasy 16 releasing on Switch than COD or, GTA.

It would be up to Activision and Take Two to bring COD and GTA to the Switch's online, not Nintendo, and yes they would put up astronomical sales.

The other franchises you listed are B-tier.
