XBL offers more than just gaming services.....can u grab a group of buddies and watch a movie 2gether over PSN? Just an example of many

chikenfriedrice

I'm aware of the services and features that XBL offers and they are not worth it, especially compared to a free service like PSN. PSN has been getting just about every feature that XBL has, so it will only be a matter of time until it has that too, for free.

If you like paying $50 for it, than go all out on it. But when I pay $60 for a game and then have to pay an additional $50 just to play the MP portion of that games (as well as others) I'm going to be a little mad.

the 50 dollars covers all games not just one ;)...and when if ever PSN catches up Sony will be charging trust that

Yes, games that you BOUGHT. I'd much rather use that money to buy another game and play that online for FREE. I don't doubt there being charges later on but for now, I'm enjoying FREE!

I think it's pretty sad. Microsoft has shown the industry how big of tools some gamers are and how easy it is to get money out of them.

Odrec

I think they have shown what a great value and service it is

No, they pretty much showed how you can milk your consumer dry and get away with it. Of course others will follow suit. Thank you Microsoft, you really have shown the console video game industry how to be better... for yourselves.

i would hardly call 50 pounds a year milking your customer dry, i know MS have done some dodgy things in the past, but they are not the all out evil company that guys like you make them out to be, MS donates a lot of money to charity, so does SONY, and the smart thing for SONY to do is charge for online, tell me , does it feel good to play online for free whilst SONY slowly bleeds all it's money out? if cows support SONY so much why would they not pay to play online, your measly 50 pounds a year subscription fee would do SONY the world of good.

ok call ur buddy that lives in another state or country right over to watch that flick lol

chikenfriedrice

Ok, will do, thanks for the suggestion.

I don't even know what's so great about that feature, seriously, you can just watch it seperately and just discuss it later. NOT A BIG DEAL or something that would make anyone go out and purchase a console for.

like I said one feature of MANY! That are not about gaming...so many great features

I'm sure there are but please tell me any other significant features I'm missing here.

lol....it's not milking if it's a valuable service that's worth paying for

chikenfriedrice

Do we need to go through the features between XBL and PSN? In the beginning, yes, PSN was pretty bad compared to XBL. Now, you have small difference between the 2. The major difference between them is cross voice chat vs no cross game chat. Is that worth $50 to you?

XBL offers more than just gaming services.....can u grab a group of buddies and watch a movie 2gether over PSN? Just an example of many

PSN also offers more than just gaming services for free. Like the brower where you can stream many movies directly from the web.

But little do you know the "cows" saved $150 over the course of 3 years as opposed to "lemmings".

wootasifwoot

true...$150 that was used to buy Bluray movies :P

Why's that a bad thing? You JUST mentioned one of the capabilities of live being able to watch MOVIES together, hypocrite much?

Because most PS3 owners only buy a PS3 just for watching Blu-Ray movies than for playing games. Why do you think that most 1st/2nd/3rd party games on the PS3 doesn't sell extremely well compared to 360? And don't give me that "because the 360 has the higher install base" excuse, because there are more PS3 owners than ever before (27 million).

I have bought like 30+ games from Sony the last couple of years, I support them enough. If more people don't want to buy games then it sucks but I'm not here to "save" them by allowing them to milk me. Who "saves" me then? Certainly not Sony.

I hope they do charge. I have no problem paying as long as they can improve it in terms of making it easier/faster to navigate, easier to find stuff, faster downloads, more content, and easier to connect online............and more features wouldnt hurt :P

I know it covers all games, hence the "as well as others". Here's a question for you, If Microsoft gave free online, but still charged $50 for cross game chat, watching movies with XBL friends, and the other minor features, would you still pay for it?

uh, last I checked they were selling. MGS sold more than gears as far as I know, Uncharted 1 sold millions of copies, U2 to do the same if not more (it's getting a lot more coverage), even games like demons souls selling quite a few (got the last copy of DS at best buy, AFTER it restocked). So yea, ps3 games are selling, not as much as 360s in NA!!! but still selling well world-wide.

Ah I see what you did there. Maybe its your connection because my download speed and upload speed is really fast. As for content... could you provide game content that PSN store doesnt have (just curious)? Easier to connect online...would you kindly elaborate? and as for features.....updates...for free :P

To be fair it just depends on who are the friends that are playing on what console. For me, most of my friends and cousins have a ps3, which is why I chose to get that instead of 360 (just one of my many other reasons) but yea, I think that plays a HUGE factor in console purchases and what not.

you are getting melodramatic over small change, surely your support of SONY would stretch to an extra 5 pounds a month, and you would hardy need saving from a 5 pound a month debt would you, this is the problem, , people act as if MS are charging so much for XBL we are all going to get into debt and have to sell our houses, people over dramatise and exaggerate what is essentially a 5 pounds a month subscription fee, which is slightly more than 1 pound a week, yet i don't see anybody here complaining about WoW subscrition fee's,starnge

Not to mention were a lot more reliable than 360s during their launch phase. It was reported in the newspaper that I read that over 33% of the 360s caught on fire during the first month of the luanch phase. So... money well spent righ there I guess.

How is PSN hard to navigate? It's one of the easiest things I have ever used.

Everything is easy to find as well. You want to buy something, you go to the PS Store, which is also easy to navigate

Connecting online is easy as well. All there is to be done it press "Sign In". Then I can get on desired game, invite friends, start playing. Easy

actually that never happens it's automatically taken out of my account so I don't miss a beat

chikenfriedrice

insane to give ms credit control imo.have heard plenty of problems+ that guarantees full price lol

I am not a moron and I have an eye over my account and have never once had a problem with a MS transaction...they have enough money they do not need to still from lil ol me

they can't steal it from you, any bank can legally reclaim the funds from MS for 14 days, with your permission the bank can take the money back from MS and theres nothing MS can do about it, i know, i did it with virgin media when they charged me double

[QUOTE="navyguy21"]I hope they do charge. I have no problem paying as long as they can improve it in terms of making it easier/faster to navigate, easier to find stuff, faster downloads, more content, and easier to connect online............and more features wouldnt hurt :PBPoole96

Easy

thats because your using a credit card. What about the XBL users using a 1month, 3 month, or a 12 month card?

idk they need to get their s**t 2gether

Well not really. Some people feel that using a credit for online is not safe. And honestly I don't blame them.

[QUOTE="delta3074"]i would hardly call 50 pounds a year milking your customer dry, i know MS have done some dodgy things in the past, but they are not the all out evil company that guys like you make them out to be, MS donates a lot of money to charity, so does SONY, and the smart thing for SONY to do is charge for online, tell me , does it feel good to play online for free whilst SONY slowly bleeds all it's money out? if cows support SONY so much why would they not pay to play online, your measly 50 pounds a year subscription fee would do SONY the world of good.delta3074

I have bought like 30+ games from Sony the last couple of years, I support them enough. If more people don't want to buy games then it sucks but I'm not here to "save" them by allowing them to milk me. Who "saves" me then? Certainly not Sony.

you are getting melodramatic over small change, surely your support of SONY would stretch to an extra 5 pounds a month, and you would hardy need saving from a 5 pound a month debt would you, this is the problem, , people act as if MS are charging so much for XBL we are all going to get into debt and have to sell our houses, people over dramatise and exaggerate what is essentially a 5 pounds a month subscription fee, which is slightly more than 1 pound a week, yet i don't see anybody here complaining about WoW subscrition fee's,starnge

It is 5 punds or whatever because it is just MS but what if every company that provides a service over the internet decides to charge a fee since MS is so succesful? Suddenly we will have to pay 5 for XBL, 5 for PSN, 5 for whatever the Wii uses, 5 for steam, 5 for any other company that works through a computer that uses internet as their base. That's the worry that MS comes and makes stuff like this popular. We will then be filled with having to pay for services that should be "free" to begin with.

but MS where not the first to charge for playing a game online where they? thats my point, you can't blame them for starting something that they didn't actually start, besides, where do you think all the money SONY could earn would go? probably to funding first party titles, it's a win-win situation for everyone, for as little as 5 pounds a month, and you know as well as i do that it was going to come down to this in the end anyway, it doesn't matter who started it, it was always going to end up this way, with everyone paying to play online, eventually

It is a bonus over the 360. Let's say the next gen consoles come out in 2012, this gen you will have paid $350 just to play online and use a few features. Instead of me paying that, I will have been able to buy nearly 6 new games.

If Sony does charge, they will probably keep online MP free, sine they know that is a major selling point for them. They will probably come up with a bunch of features/extras and charge for that while keeping online free. That is fine since the fee is not forced upon gamers the way XBL is

No, they pretty much showed how you can milk your consumer dry and get away with it. Of course others will follow suit. Thank you Microsoft, you really have shown the console video game industry how to be better... for yourselves.Odrec

lol....it's not milking if it's a valuable service that's worth paying for

Do we need to go through the features between XBL and PSN? In the beginning, yes, PSN was pretty bad compared to XBL. Now, you have small difference between the 2. The major difference between them is cross voice chat vs no cross game chat. Is that worth $50 to you?

You are obviously biased. PSN is horrible to navigate and the features are just plain bad. In my experience XBL is by far the better online service. Not even a debate if you ask me.

Sony online is pretty easy to use except finding things and the complete layout is repetitive, While the 360 is way better

So if Sony expects to charge for online I suggest they givepsn a complete overhaul

People have spent farrrr more for just 1 game. $50 a year is expensive if you're 12. Seriously people are just spoiled and expect everything for free these days. You know why Sony didn't charge for PSN this year???? It's because MS did and they wanted to try and trump MS and get people to buy the PS3 with it's $600 price tag.

Biased? Maybe. But I have used each service and have my own preferances. The $50 is not justified. Since you brought it up, how is PSN horrible to navigate and which features are just plain bad? I'd really like to know
