i reckon they will drop the price when gt5 comes out. its their biggest 1st party game and it is coming out within a few months of christmas. if they drop it then, the ps3 will sell like hot cakes.

There is no confirmation on it coming before christmas stop acting like there is a release date.
Even if they would, u think he would admit it? People would just wait and the sales would fall to ZERO until the drop. They better drop it or ther PS3 will fall even further behind.
This is a way for SONY to fool consumers/rivals into thinking there is no Price drop...and then WHAM, surprise us.

They simply need to do what they need to do, regardless of how many Wii's and 360's Sell. Sony needs to run the business as Sony should. If that means they don't outsell the competition, but throw up profits eventually, then that's that.

while your are entitled to your opinion how is purchasing a PS3 at this price make you a tool? it's not as if sony is squeezing a lot of profit out of that $400. it cost quite a lot of make a PS3 and giving a PS3 would mean sony would have to sell the PS3 for a loss again.

Actually they are squeezing nothing out of initial ps3 sales which the system still sells for a loss i think i read somewhere that it costs 10% more then they sell it for.

Good. Good news. The more it stays at that price the worse it'll get.
Sure a price cut will hurt sony financially cause they'#d be taking a hit but thats tihnking short term. Long term, screwing the PS3 compeltely will screw them with the PS4 as well and potentially screw them right out the console business. Bright future ahead i hope. :)

You are correct. They have to cut the price, unless they see a manufacturing break through developing that will get the price down shortly. They are going to have to make up their losses with software sales. PS3 owners, start buying games.
A price drop is coming. Some of you act like he is going to say "yea, we will cut the price in October" and have sales and stock price plummet until October. Thats just silly :P We can follow Sony's activity in the market over the last year and be 90% sure that they will be a price cut.

Why don't you buy the new bundle. It cost 400 USD so its like buy a 300 USD PS3 with 2 games added in for an extra 100USD. Unless of course you are a lemming and are just trolling?
Sony is in a lose lose situation, they cut price they lose MORE money, So I can see why there so hesitant to not cut price because they cant afford to take that deep of a loss.
Its business, why would Sony want to lose even more money ? Unless the PS3 Slim is real, Sony wont cut the price any time soon.

If current PS3 owners actually bought games in comparison to 360 owners, they would probably drop the price in expectation that theyll make the money back on game sales...BUT since, like Ive been saying for awhile (because of what Ive experienced from my casual gamer friends), only hardcore gamers actually think the PS3 has some good games (thanks to Sonys awful marketing) so their sales are lower than they should be

He made this comment so the fairly large amount of people waiting for a price drop realize there isnt gonna be one for awhile so if you want one mine as well get one now. And these guys never bluff cause that would just piss people off. As always, no comment = true, comment = false. If they say go from a 90mm to a 65nm chip they can save money over the very long term, however slimming down the console would increase R&D, manufacturing, and test costs, not to mention take up a capital investment exponentially larger than what it took to for the fabricators of the original console.....so assuming it would be cheaper out the gate just doesn't make sense.... it would end up costing them more money to do that than what it cost them to develop the original PS3 and everything in it.
Btw, guys I'd say exactly what Stringer said if I wanted to see my KZ2 and MGS4 Bundles have a better chance at selling before my price cut coming August/September

I am not trolling since I did not mean to antagonize anyone. I was simply stating the truth and preemptively stated that I have enough money before people tell me to get a job so I can afford a PS3. I have been looking into buying a PS3 for a while now but cannot justify the price. In addition, I am not particularly interested in MGS4. The deciding factor, however, is that that deal seems to be exclusive to the US.
