It's true that profits are the most important factor. The problem is that fanboys, and especially lemmings right now, possibly you included, pretend to know what the profit figures are. I could have sworn that every lemming assumed MS made a ton of money during the 360's lifecycle. The underlying costs for RROD replacements were conveniently left out for obvious reasons. And that's not even accounting for the investments MS made in buying exclusives. But if MS's top investors are any indication, the Xbox division is of negative value to the company, contrary to what lemmings think.
I say that gamers should worry about games. Let the investors worry about profits. Because obviously, most people on this forum are not working with enough information to make a sound judgement.

a. This figure excludes the monumentally expensive first XBox years
b. This figure predates any good numbers on production of the XBox One.

NO, the instant the person buys a year (which most will), that is $50 for each person that buys a year (more each year if they don't buy the whole year at once.). Sony doesn't have to wait a year for that money. Sure some will not buy a whole year, but that is still instant money the first money. Then there is the fact that as time goes on, the cost to make each console will go down. And naturally they will work as fast as possible to get those cost down so they don't have that $60 loss with each console. Not sure what you are really trying to get at here, but I do know this. Sony is in good shape with the PS4 and to think otherwise is just letting your fanboy show. Regardless of what you think of those games, money is money to a company. If buyers purchase accessories or software at launch (assuming that they are not selling the controllers/cameras at a loss), then Sony will very quickly recover their losses. However, the main goal is for you to buy into the Sony ecosystem. It's the same mentality Google uses when selling the Nexus 5/7 at a loss. The money finds its way back through the Play store.

Sony doesn't need more than a +1 attach rate and a PS+ subscription to be in the black....VERY simple to do given most people buy multiple games and controllers in the months following launch.

I've been booted several times and have experienced the awful match making system in Killzone 2 and especially in Killzone 3. If the only argument you have is "I've never been booted" then you have no leg to stand on.

I've played both KZ 2 and 3, if the only argument you have is an assumption on weather I've played it or not, you have no argument. I've experienced the horrible match making that was on Killzone 3.
Guerrilla Games even tried lying about their game running on dedicated servers, until they finally explained how these so called dedicated servers would work.
