Thanks for the link. Good thing for them they are now charging for online service. So the loss will be even less for them. They seem to be set up to do a whole lot better than they did with the PS3.

It's a 60 dollar loss on each unit sold, which means with PSN+ alone it'll take Sony a year to make their loss back on each PS4 sold.

NO, the instant the person buys a year (which most will), that is $50 for each person that buys a year (more each year if they don't buy the whole year at once.). Sony doesn't have to wait a year for that money. Sure some will not buy a whole year, but that is still instant money the first money. Then there is the fact that as time goes on, the cost to make each console will go down. And naturally they will work as fast as possible to get those cost down so they don't have that $60 loss with each console. Not sure what you are really trying to get at here, but I do know this. Sony is in good shape with the PS4 and to think otherwise is just letting your fanboy show. And if that is the case, then our conversation is over because I really don't feel like going back and forth with a blind raging fanboy.

If people buy the PSN+ for 50 dollars Sony STILL isn't going to make their money back in a year, they'll still be 10 dollars short of what they lost on each PS4 sold. So yes, going strictly off PSN+ Sony won't be able to make their money back.

Then there's the fact that the cost to make each console will go down? Really? Can I borrow your crystal ball? Because I sure would like to know what the next powerball numbers are. What a stupid argument, I can just as easily argue that the PS4 will go through several price drops which will negate saving money on lower production cost.

Sony lost money with the PS3, they're going to lose money with the PS4, you're argument of PSN+ making their money back has failed. And do you remember Sony saying the same crap during the past 2 console launches? THey promised millions of PS2s at launch and barely managed over 600-700k I believe. It would be great if they can meet demand but I highly doubt it.

People act like there aren't a bunch of games available for the PS4 at launch. Yes, a lot of them are PSN/downloadables, but that precisely counters this ridiculous argument that the PS4 is going to be sitting around and collecting dust. Games are games. It's just funny! PS1 didn't launch with this many games and certainly not the PS2.

There are now thousands of PS4s on eBay and CL, people are even buying pre order receipts from $600 to $1000 a pop. Always fun to see the herd at launch time (and by herd, I don't mean Sony fans, just people in general).

Well assuming everyone who gets one gets at least like 3 games (Even if not first party) and a subscription to PS+ I would be inclined to believe that they'd at least make a profit. When you do the math like that it makes it seem like a huge huge number, but their profits will be more based on a system by system basis. Hopefully they'll get a got attach ratio. I buy lots of games, so they'll definitely be profiting from me :)

PS4 will sell at a loss in the USA but make a profit in EU. Exchange rates or some shizzle. They'll be fine.

You're making it sound like they do price drops immediately after decreasing manufacturing costs, no one is that dumb. Balancing production costs is something done all the time throughout the lifecycle of a console, and they make sure they'll make hit a milestone of net profit and cost and a whole bunch of other factors before deciding on a price drop. Your worries about sony are funny.

No one ever stated or even implied that, only the ridiculous notion of PSN+ single handedly making up their money back, assuming that every single PS4 sale would result in the buying buying a year of PSN+ which still wouldn't have made their money back.

There are 4 pages on this thread and countless times people on this thread brought up when people get a psn+ subscription and buys a few games, exclusives and multiplats alike, they'll make a profit.

And that's where their arguments failed because for a record breaking 21 times now, I've explained that the original argument made, was that Sony was going to make their money back on PSN+ SOLEY
