Okay, yes I am a Nintendo fanboy but I also own and love all three consoles and am a fan all three companies as well. Heck I even prefer the PS3 to the 360 so this isn't coming from the side of bias I promise.

But this statement is ludicrous. What if you have a family of six? Well....which of the consoles has a single game that supports six players (or even any number greater than four) requiring all of the players to be in your house together and to each have a controller in their hand? I'll tell you one I know of for sure: the Playstation 3. That's like saying "it doesn't make cheesburgers?? Well...what if you're hungry for a cheesburger!?" Stupid.

And then on the use of non-Wii U footage in its montage, "mimicry is the highest form of flattery". This is also an impossibly ignorant statement. I must say that I was surprised anyone thought that footage was games running on the system. It was clear to me the system was in too early of stages of development to have any real games avilable yet so I never even questioned it. But in the end if it caught some people off guard then fair enough. But I don't think they did anything wrong. If those titles are coming to the console (which, they are) then they have the right to show them. Nintendo showing footage of Arkam Asylum isn't them saying "look how awesome Sony is and we want to be just like them". It's saying, "look at how awesome this game from Rocksteady Games is and we want this on our console". I think it's pretty narrowminded of this guy to assume that reel had a thing to do with Sony or the PS3. Just my two cents.

Demo reels and footage from other consoles is no way to announce a new system.

Wii U is Nintendo's lone wolf console.Made for gamer's not families. But in a weird twist they still seem to want to have their cake and eat it too because they showed quite a few Wii U gimmicks that look like they're made to appeal to casuals. It's a console that doesn't know what it is. Bread_or_Decide
No sane company would ever purposely make a console that appeals exclusively to "core" gamers. They would be forfeiting the majority share of the gaming market..

I just don't think it's a way not to announce a new system either. The way I look at it, what's important to take away from that minute long reel of game footage wasn;t "this isn't Wii U footage". It's "this game and this game and this game are going to be on this syatem". To me looking at it as footage of an Xbox game and not footage of Darksiders 2 is silly. The source hardware had nothing to do with it to me. Sure it would have been nice if it were Wii U footage, but that's less important than knowing Aliens will be on it. Not to mention it's better than just putting a game logo on the screen behind them.

That seems an odd place to attack the WiiU on as Sony isn't exactly local multiplayer friendly

Well it's an easy spot to attack so they attacked it. I don't know why I should be excited to play Batman one year later on the Wii U when I can play it this year on the other systems. And as far as having graphics on par with current stuff...that's not impressive either.

I totally agree on the notion of playing year old games and this still confuses me. I don;t know how this is all going to come together because I can;t imagine the system will be getting year old games when it releases. We'll just have to see. As far as power, first off we don't know it won;t be more pwerful. In fact I still hear evidence alluding to it being the most powerful out there quite often so we'll have to wait on that as well. but if is just on par and that doesn't impress you, what about the controller? Does that impress you? Because that's what the system is about. And to me that controller is amazing and getting it in my hands is all that matters to me. It's something that nintendo is doing to set itself apart and games of ALL KINDS will be playable with it. Both old and new. Pretty cool if you ask me.

Um, does Sony know that Nintendo did not confirm the "one tablet only" thing yet? They said they are researching this.

Their own regular controller isn't that cheap, at least not here in Sweden. The controllers themselves costs around 80$ or 60 euro, so let's not throw stones in a glass houses here now Sony.

It works with Wii motes, doesn't it? The whole point of the WiiU controller is that it is for YOU. It's an individual thing. For family play you have the wii motes.

I guess 2 can sit and read a book, while 3 others are jealous of the one who has the tablet controller. Sounds like family entertainment at its best.

I seriously doubt that. Most of the hardware is already in the Wiimote+. A screen that size needn't cost more than $20 wholesale (admittedly it depends on type of LCD and its pixel density). The camera would be maybe a couple bucks.

and if I remember correctly, one person can use the Wii U controller, while the others use Wii motes or ****c controller.

i guess my answer to sony would be that apparently i live in some 3rd worldcountry and have bigger things to worry about than affording 5 extra controllers.

seriously sony are you stupid or what? who has 6 kids these days?

oh noes! i can't afford wii tablets!!! and 70% of my town is hiv positive and warlords cut off my hands and stole all the international aid grain!!!

sony = idiots.

How is that a gimmick? Having a second touch screen on the DS is really helpful in my experience.

They have somewhat of a point, if the Wii U can really only stream to one console it's a pretty stupid design.

Also damn some of the deflections in the thread was funny, some people deflecting to the features of the PS2 last gen, some deflecting tp the PS3 price from 3 years ago. :lol SW never change.

i'd wager a lot of families of six are quite rich

AmnesiaHaze

they are infact rich ... but from a social , non-materialistic viewpoint

This is far from true for my family, we are doing fine financially but I can't say we are as family loving as the others.

[QUOTE="TruthBToldShow"] You mean how they have had cloud service for months on PS+ and how they showed cloud being used on VIta to save a game and continue it on the PS3 ast the E3 presentation the night before Wii-U was even announced? So, who had the idea first?

Desmonic

Cloud service is not something Sony came up with.

Neither did Ninty invent motion controls or touchscreens or analogs or whatever... your point?

They became important standards for video gaming on consoles, Sony copied their idea of implementing it. Besides, you honestly want to compare cloud service to control sticks?

Hell I don't even know why we are discussing cloud service here...

then just buy another one, Nintendo's ipad like controller is gona cost a ton which is the reason why only one comes with the Wii U and I think Nintendo has made statements saying only one Wii U controller will be supported so more than likely it will be either 1.) a U console, meaning YOU can only play it or 2.) there will be other controllers that are less expensive and don't have a touch pad screen which would make the gimmick being used somewhat irrelevant

No, but what Sony is saying is that you can't have more than five players. Even though their own Move controller only supports four players (less if Nav controllers are needed).

What I found more disturbing was the link within the article:

http://beefjack.com/news/wii-u-controller-wont-be-sold-separately-multiplayer-games-will-use-wiimote/

"...

Nintendo has just clarified that the Wii U controller – the big bad boy with a massive touch screen in the middle – won't be sold separately.

There had been chatter overnight of how much an extra one of these babies would cost. It's obviously a snazzy piece of kit, but it seemed unlikely the console would ship with more than one – and surely you'd need at least a couple to enjoy multiplayer gaming, right?

Well, wrong, as it happens. The Wii U will indeed just come with one large controller. But it won't be available separately as you'll only ever need one controller per unit. Multiplayer games will be contested using the WiiMote, Nintendo say."

My hype for WiiU just dropped a billion percent. I hate the Wiimote and now they're saying the WiiU console will work with only one WiiU controller at a time. That's so weird and bogus. Nintendo what are you thinking??? :?

I was simply answering the OP's question..for 4 people? Take out the 2 reading the book and you're still left with 3 being jealous of the one who has the tablet and the fighting ensues. As a current parent let me tell you how much fun that would be.

People seem to forget that the WiiU supports the Wiimote Plus. So a guy with a WiiU can play along with 4 people playing with the Wiimotes.

Wii U is Nintendo's lone wolf console.Made for gamer's not families. Are you sure about that? Isn't the goal of the Wii U to combine social/none-hardcore gaming and hardcore gaming in one console - Wii being the social part and U being the more hardcore. I might be wrong, but that's how I see it. From the E3 conference I certainly didn't get the feeling that Nintendo was trying to carter to the hardcore audience alone, but more like every single gamer out there.

The Wiimote is a phenomenal piece of hardware, you just didn't adapt to it well. If you didn't get used to it, what are the odds that you'll get used to the WiiU controller?

People seem to forget that the WiiU supports the Wiimote Plus. So a guy with a WiiU can play along with 4 people playing with the Wiimotes.LastRambo341
Who wants to play with the crappy Wiiimote when there is a Shiny new uber tablet controller with fancy screen?

What I found more disturbing was the link within the article:

First of all I'm loeft handed. The Wii mote is for right handed people. I mean my bad for being left handed but I gotta change my handedness to use ur controller? Even shiggy was flopping at the Demo of skyward sword last year (Shiggy himself is a lefty too).

depends how rich you are, the controllers will likely cost over $100.

SoBaus

Nintendo confirmed that the WiiU controllers wont be sold seperately.

Who would use a crappy DS3 when you have MOVE? I WOULD USE the Wiimote. I'm not gonna be a baby and fight over the tablet

Not to mention that we still have the option of classic controllers for more "traditional" MP games like Smash, and it wouldn't surprise me if Nintendo release new WiiMotes or news Classic Controllers, honestly i don't see this as a flaw or as a limitation since the SP experiences could be much better than what we have right now and the MP experiences will be just as good as now.

I've been thinking the same thing as Sony. I already think the cost of controllers is getting too high, it's going to be hard to drop that kind've of money

If i have a family of 6 then all consoles are useless. My family could share things though like normal people do.
