SONY or MS: Which one is likely to architect the most powerful console next gen?

in your personal opinion, which of the two companies you think has the potential to architect the most powerful / graphically superior console next gen?

Kinect doesn't need amazing graphics to run, so I'll go with PS4

Sony. Again.

I'm betting it will be Microsoft's next console. I think Sony needs to create a more cost effective console and launch it with an inFAMOUS 3 or Uncharted 4 to convince people to buy it right away despite weaker specs.

Since the 360 is the most powerful console this gen, I'll have to go with the Xbox 720.

I'm guessing it will be the NeXbox because Sony needs to have a cost effective system.

Both Nintendo and Sony have already made that mistake and it cost them market share leads each time. Now it's Microsoft's turn to do it I suppose.

Will probably be pretty even. But even if one was clearly stronger than the other it wouldnt show up outside of first party.

I don't know, I know nohting about the next gen consoles. All I know is that Sony said (quoting Tretton) "We don't care about being first out the gate, we only care about having the most powerful console on the market with the best games". So judging by that, I would say Sony once again.

But really things change and until I see something real, I'm not going to bet on anything.

To answer the question: Neither. They're both going to release nerfed consoles to save on costs.

I'll go with MS. And the reason is that they will no doubt have their next console running windows 8 to keep their product lines all looking the same. Windows 8 means app store, so they will sell the console at a loss and recoupe their money from apps sold, and with that extra power developers will make games that look nicer and sell better. Sony doesn' thave an app store yet, and thus won't be able to sell their next console at such a loss, and that means they will nee dto keep costs down but cutting corners on hardware.

I would imagine that the consoles would be pretty conservative in terms of raw graphical power, they will be one hell of an improvement over the current ones obviously. I would also guess that each one will use a 5*** or 6*** series amd card as the base, maybe a low end 7*** card at best.

Knowing that sony's bottom line is hurting it would not surprise me that MS would go for cutting edge tech just to force sony's hand into either following suit which sony could ill afford to do or have sony concede on the graphics point entirely...MS could offer better tech at a competetive point of entry price with any of their various financing options..Sony just may have to defer entering next gen for a few years yet

It will not matter, as optimization will allow for both multiplatform games, in the long run, to look

exactly the same as the other. The hardware of the 360 or ps3 is pretty much the same, it's all

about the devs. I expect both of them to have 90% of the same looking games, and the other

10% is exclusive games with different art styles and graphical differences. Fanboys will go at it,

again. The pc users will benefit from mods and the best graphics, again.

Considering MS' shift in focus the past couple years, I think Sony will have the strongest hardware.

PS3 was supposed to be the most powerful console this gen right? But why is it on most graphics comparisons the 360 looks a tad bit better? Either way i'm sure they will both be pretty close in terms of graphics and give the other a run for their money.
