[QUOTE="hd5870corei7"][QUOTE="93soccer"][QUOTE="oldkingallant"] TEH PC DEVELOPERS DON'T COUNT11!!!!!!!111!!!! Hahahaha kidding, Crytek is the best dev for graphics easily, Nintendo, Bioware, Valve, and Blizzard are the masters on the gameplay side. I think 75% of SW is in agreement on that.

LOL yep. I would also like to say Bungie's up there with the best of them...

Well you can't... Because they are not.

Why not? Care to provide your UNBIASED opinions?

Good point - Bungie are certainly up there. And with Reach and a new IP on the way - they're only getting stronger.

[QUOTE="GunSmith1_basic"]what's so great about Naughty Dog? All I see is Uncharted . After that its garbage like Crash Bandicoot. Never played a Jak & Daxter but it's hardly lighting the industry on fire hd5870corei7
Uhhhh Crash games were AA-AAA and Jak games were AAA all of them. What are you talking about. Biased opinion is biased.

Untrue. Below are the gamespot scores for every Naughty Dog game since Crash Bandicoot:

Crash Bandicoot: 6.8

Crash Bandicoot 2: 8.6

Crash Bandicoot 3: 8.9

Crash Team Racing: 8.4

Jak & Daxter: 8.8

Jak II: 9.1

Jak 3: 8.6

Jak X: Combat Racing: 7.9

Uncharted: 8.0

Uncharted 2: 9.5

Solid, consistent AA developer. Nothing wrong with that, but being solid AA doesn't get you mentioned in the same breath as Blizzard, Bungie, Valve, Nintendo, etc.

While Halo 3 has a great multiplayer, it has a terrible campaign. Even Halo's fans agree that it has a bad campaign.civic_misfit
This guy is seriously on drugs, can you actually render a reliable source for your claims(And I don't mean your dung hole)... It wouldn't have received a 9.5 here for just having an excellent MP while costing $60... Value is also considered. Halo 3 has been one of my favorite all around games this generation along with the likes of Portal & Mass Effect. The most adamant fan boys insist that its campaign wasn't that good yet it scored the same has Uncharted 2, which the Bungie guys helped create its multiplayer. :o Now are you going to go on to say that Uncharted 2's SP wasn't that great? You'd seem like less of a hypocrite if you did. I just never understood the logic here in saying that a game wasn't that great when it 1) sold more 2) being played more and 3) scored the same or better as other games.

maybe Naughty Dog, but Guerilla's 'talent' is nothing to Bungie and Valve.

they're probably as talented as Epic...but not Bungie or Valve. just not even close.....

maybe your a bit unfair. Like I said, Sony has a very large first party and the two devs the OP posted are just a taste of them. EA and Nintendo are chopped up as well.

[QUOTE="civic_misfit"]

Naughty Dog and Guerilla Games are some of the most talented developers in the industry today. Uncharted 2 and Killzone 2 are the most immersive, atmospheric games yet released on consoles. Their games are the only games that deserve to be called HD. Both run at 720p with 2xAA and the best character design and animations seen today.

This gen, Sony managed to dismantle the graphics giants of last gen. ND and GG have outclassed Epic and even Valve in graphics and gameplay. Uncharted 2 makes Gears 2 look like a launch game. This gen, all Valve has done is complain about the ps3's architecture while releasing a left 4 dead game every year on a 2004 engine. To say they are past their prime would be an understatement.

I was going to agree with you to some degree, but after reading the rest of your post its making it difficult. Gear 2 looking like a launch title? Have you played it on a 1080p tv? It looks very good! Left 4 Dead 2 isn't really about the graphics, but it's a fun @ss game! I do think Naughty Dog went all out with Uncharted 2. That game looks simply amazing!! I haven't finished Uncharted yet, so I've yet to try out 2, but I watched a buddy play it on a 55 in 1080p, 240hz, LCD tv, and it looked sick! So I agee that Naughty Dog does have its stuff together, and is probably one of the top 5 devs out.

I enjoy Naughty Dog's R&C and Crash Bandicoot, but all of sudden when they release Uncharted they are considered the best? Guerilla Games.. Killzone is just a mediocre shooter. Hard to say they are even a decent developer.

Instead of flaming and not providing an unbiased opinion, why not just answer his question? How can anyone deny that Bungie innovated console fps' at this point? It's funny you'd also mention Halo 3's forge editor and yet somehow bash that when considering there's yet to be another console fps that has that same feature (PC's is kind of unfair thx to mods :P).

Wops, my bad. But at least Crash is a solid AA franchise. Jak & Daxter games got 9.6 and 9.4 etc from IGN. Daxter the PSP game is AAA. Uncharted 1 just like some other ND games are underrated here, scored 8.0 here but its AAA at IGN and Gamerankings. And nuff said about UC2.

You criticised someone's opinion, you should back it up.

For me, they did revitalise FPS' on consoles.

I remember playing Halo CE (although I was very young), but thinking wow....this game is great.

Halo 2 was another spectacular AAA game, and the same with Halo 3 - which I still play today, whilst other games have come and gone, and it still feels fresh.

Halo Reach seems to be one of the best shooters upcoming (on any platform), and that's partly down to Bungie's care - which YOU will witness (hopefully) when they release their next IP. They listen to their fans too, regularly changing playlists/game types to suit what the fans want.

Now it's your turn to tell me why they're not worthy.

Edit: Don't forget Myth or Marathon series either.

What makes you say that?

Variety. When was the last time Bungie made a non-Halo game? Wasn't that 1999? That PC game, forgot its name. Its not hard having a consistent record when all you do is basically copy/pasta your formula on the next game without actually telling a story or giving an experience which is unique. Naughty Dog made some really good titles before they started on the PS1. a few on PC and one of Sega's consoles I believe, but I don't think GS made reviews that far back :P In the PS1 era Naughty Dog gave us 4 games, which for the most part, were AA games. Then in the PS2 era, they make a new ip and give us AA-AAA rated games (9.4 and 9.6 scoring on IGN!) 4 really high quality games. And this generation they've made to great AAA games. UC1 and UC2. UC2 winning more goty's than any other game in existence with 111 GAME OF THE YEAR AWARDS

Oh my bad, I just checked at its 89.70% Oh dear lawd! Thats a 90. its not like we have to use decimal points on a 100 point review scale. Bungie is as good as Infinity Ward, stop overrating them people. (And I like Infinity Ward, Call of Duty is a great franchise)

Oni didn't even get review here on Gamespot but it got a 7.5 on IGN (Bungie are AAA ONLY DEVS, EVERYTHING THEY MAKE IS AAA!)

Marathon 2 didnt get reviewed on IGN either but it has a review score of a 7.0 (Single A)

Yet those boring copy and paste games managed to only get them 9.7, 9.4, 9.5 and 9.0. And then those boring copy and pasted features were soon implemented into 90% of today's console shooters.

They also Made Marathon which was the pinnacle of FPS back in the early 90's and once again those features were once again used by future shooters.

If you make something perfect almost every time there is no need to switch it up. Attempting to slight Bungie for that is laughable at best.

And in a few months Bungie will be releasing another copy and paste game that will most likely get a 9.5..................lol

LOL you need to relax bro. I remember playing Halo:CE and stepping out on the 2nd level and thinking "This is amazing!". They had an amazing campaign with Halo CE and had nice multiplayer going on. Halo 2 had a good, balanced online MP while also keeping things like split screen and LAN parties. Halo 3 brought out Forge, made MP even better, had theatre mode built in so you can render images/video and have them stored on your acc, made 4 player split screen/online coop SP. They also made some more nice games like Myth and Marathon Series

Gurilla Games hasn't even reach Bungie status as far as top developers go. In my opinion the best developer this generation is deffinately Nintendo, in fact one could say they have been the best developers for 25 years running now.

[QUOTE="Ravensmash"][QUOTE="hd5870corei7"] Variety. UC2 winning more goty's than any other game in existence with 111 GAME OF THE YEAR AWARDS

hd5870corei7

UC1 is not an AAA game. And since when did variety always equal better? Halo 1, 2 and 3 are vastly different from each other - it's not a simple copy and paste formula. Halo 2 was closer to Halo 3, than 2 was to CE I think - but then along comes Reach which feels very different.

UC1 is a AAA game, sorry. Did I say Variety = better?

This is gamespot and UC1 is definitely not a AAA game.

i am so alienated by halo. People are so loyal to that franchise that they would say Bungie is in the top 5 devs ever well I don't get it. To me, one franchise is not enough. I played all three halos (mostly halo:ce) and I would have to say it is good but not great. Nintendo EAD, Valve, Blizzard, Rockstar, EA, Ubisoft, and hell even Bethesda and THQ beat Bungie. Plus like I said, Sony is really fractured. If you could count everything sony owned right out it would be right up there too.

[QUOTE="civic_misfit"][QUOTE="IronBass"] Nothing about that is next gen gameplay. The Wii has been around for 4 years (about the Move part) and 3D graphics are that, graphics, not gameplay.93soccer
Are you kidding?!?? Can you play Socom on Wii?

Nooo because that's owned by Sony :? Can you play SMG2 with Move? How about the Conduit? Or Red Steel 2?

i wouldnt play the conduit if i even owned a wii

I'm not 'loyal' to it, I just like it and rate Bungie's work as consistent and very high quality. The community features also show they're more down to earth than many developers. They also created Marathon series and Myth series. Fair enough - it's your opinion, but many will disagree.

[QUOTE="Mark36111"]

[QUOTE="hd5870corei7"] Uhhhh Crash games were AA-AAA and Jak games were AAA all of them. What are you talking about. Biased opinion is biased.hd5870corei7

Untrue. Below are the gamespot scores for every Naughty Dog game since Crash Bandicoot:

Crash Bandicoot: 6.8

Crash Bandicoot 2: 8.6

Crash Bandicoot 3: 8.9

Crash Team Racing: 8.4

Jak & Daxter: 8.8

Jak II: 9.1

Jak 3: 8.6

Jak X: Combat Racing: 7.9

Uncharted: 8.0

Uncharted 2: 9.5

Solid, consistent AA developer. Nothing wrong with that, but being solid AA doesn't get you mentioned in the same breath as Blizzard, Bungie, Valve, Nintendo, etc.

And nuff said about UC2.

what your not getting is they are not as consistent as the heavy hitters. Just because ND made UC2 probably their first highly praised game does not mean they been doing it for a long time or done it that much.

Not trying to slug off Bungie as a great dev, since every Halo game they made were AAA. But honestly, putting them next to developers like the ones I will mention in post below just isn't right.

Valvemade countless mods for their engines, which are easily the best multiplayer FPS experiences around and Half life and Half Life 2 being known being the best FPS games ever made and scoring AAA while winning around 50 goty's each (+ Portal won loads in '07) And Half Life was the big GOTY winner of '98 and Half Life 2 the big GOTY winner of 2004.

Blizzard the dev that makes the most addictive games out there (reviews for games like Diablo 2, don't do justice, because it takes 3 years until you get good, and once your good, the 4th,5th,6th,7th + year you play will be much more enjoyable) and warcraft series, and starcraft being known as the best RTS of all time. And then there's WoW...

Rockstar North - Grand Theft Auto III changed the way we played games, and Vice City, San Andreas were AAA games with it, not only did R*N give us quality games but they were also revolutionary. GTAIV being AAAA on GS (Ugh I still hate it though) And then they made RDR which has a chance of being the GOTY of this year. *Grand Theft Auto III was the big goty winner of 2001*

Kojima Productions - Back in 1987 Hideo Kojima and his team made a revolutionary game; Metal Gear, that created (if not, it atleast launched) the stealth genre. It got a sequel; Metal Gear 2 , and he made other games that sadly did not have any reviews but they did get high praise back in their days like The Snatcher and Policenauts. Then in '98, Metal Gear Solid (IGN's #1 PS1 game, which says A LOT) pushed the industry into making cut-scenes and actually investing in voice actors so that they can deliever great voice acting in games. (Imagine playing games where devs did not care for voice acting? :( ) The GBC version of this game being AAAA on IGN, AAA here. MGS2 scoring like 9.6 or 9.7, along side Metal Gear Solid 3 being two of the top10 best games on the PS2. Portable Ops and Peace Walker (AAA handheld games) the Acid games weren't that special, but they were more than decent.

Of course we have their best game which is Metal Gear Solid 4. To Quote from the review giving it AAAA on this site:

"Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is the most technically stunning video game ever made. It's also a fine example of storytelling prowess within its medium, combining gameplay and narrative so slickly and beautifully that it's impossible to extricate one from the other."

Also MGS4 has been hailed by major reviewers as the best game game of all time.

Bioware Star Wars KOTOR (big goty winner of 2003) Never Winter Nights, Jade Empire (which scored a 9.9 on IGN!) Mass Effect being AAA every where except GS (well 9.0 on PC! :P) and Mass Effect 2 is AAA with an average as high as UC2's. Dragon Age Origins was one of the best games of 2009.

Did Bungie ever get a mass GOTY winning title? Nope. Does Bungie have a strong modding community? Nope. Did Bungie revolutionize gaming? Nope. Did Bungie created a new genre? Nope. Does Bungie constantly make quality IPs? Nope. Is one Bungies games considered to be the greatest game ever made? Nope.

All of the devs above have done 1 or more of what I said Bungie has not done.

Did Bungie ever get a mass GOTY winning title? Yep, Halo:CE and the rest have won quite a few, look it up.
Does Bungie have a strong modding community? Technically yes, there's hundreds of thousands of people creating machinima and maps on Halo 3.
Did Bungie revolutionize gaming? Again Halo:CE did that quite well. It also had some of the best graphics when it came out.
Did Bungie created a new genre? No :? But neither did any of the others you mentioned.
Does Bungie constantly make quality IPs? Halo's quality. Marathon was quality.
Is one Bungies games considered to be the greatest game ever made? Again look up Halo: CE

All of the devs above have done 1 or more of what I said Bungie has not done.

The only knock on the Halo series was it's less than stellar graphics, but that's really it. At least when it made the jump to the 360. I've always loved the Halo series mainly for it's single player campaign. While it may not have the best graphics, it has nice open environments, with great immersion, and score. They also created Marathon series and Myth series. Fair enough - it's your opinion, but many will disagree.

Guerrilla.....Guerilla.....:lol::lol:x10

maybe Naughty Dog, but Guerilla's 'talent' is nothing to Bungie and Valve.

they're probably as talented as Epic...but not Bungie or Valve. just not even close.....

thanks for the laugh though.;)

hd5870corei7

Why did you mentioned Bungie? Naughty Dog is by far a better dev than Bungie. I however, will not say that ND is as good as VALVE.

because Bungie is one of the top developers in the industry at the moment.

and far better? definitely not. but both ND and Bungie would put Guerilla to shame. they already do.

Every Halo has won a GOTY award or various other awards - or been nominated. Marathon, Myth and Halo have all been modded on PC/Mac. Marathon is apparently still modded to this day by a small number of enthusiasts. Halo 3 is constantly changing due to inbuilt tweaks made in the game itself - with very varied game types. Try and play Duck Hunt and tell me it's the standard deathmatch etc. Maps are changed, and Reach is rumoured to have a full map editor. Yes, they revolutionised console FPS's, and online on consoles . No, they didn't create a new genre . Bungie constantly make quality IPs. Halo CE is often mentioned as one the best FPS's - I'm going by what I see, read, hear.

The best in the industry current are the 3 bs

Blizzard, Bioware, Bungie, Valve, Nintendo, Capcom and Rockstar.

These are the only people who have influenced their respective genres noticeably and still do today. Sorry for leaving out JRPG devs, I don't know them nor will I pretend to.

Guerilla Games is pushing games forward technically only. Gameplay wise, theyre just like any other FPS developer. They just have the budget. Killzone 2 without the graphics would be an embarrassment.

Naughty Dog is A+.

 At Guerilla Games being top in the industry, good devs, hell they even made one of my favorite games this gen but no, ND I can agree with, not one of the top two but eh in the top 5 definitely.
