Sony Reveals No 1 Reason To Buy A PS3

if I wanted to make ainvestments I would of put that money at the bank .

I want to play videogames , not watch how much dust my $600 brick can collect till the 360 somehow magicly stop getting game because of no reason and PS3 finally get a good game .

A blu-ray player that can play games , that what the PS3 is right now .

That's the No. 1 reason to get a PS3 sometime down the line. But being future-proof doesn't imply you should be an early adopter (as essentially everyone who has bought a PS3 up to this point is). When the PS3 is like $300 and it actually has a solid catalog of good games (i.e. in 2009) maybe I will get it then. It should still have 7 more years to go, according to Sony...masterpinky2000

Thank you! Although I'm not looking forward to the cash I'll be dropping in probably 5 or 6 years for the next gen of consoles, I'd rather be playing new technology than old. Just because some people either don't have the money or aren't ready to buy a PS3/360/Wii doesn't mean that the PS2 is toe-to-toe with them from a gaming perspective. Certain games for the PS2 are still excellent (GoW2, Persona 3, etc.), but from a technology standpoint, it can't keep up (even to the Wii). Can the PS3 last 10 years? Sure, if there's support for it. But would you rather play the PS3 in 10 years than the next Xbox/Playstation? I sure wouldn't...

Oh we did have games to play, i loved NGS, R:FoM and VF5 to a lesser extent, but come on, its not even nearly enough, unfortunately my PS3 has been collecting dust since a month after i bought, purely because there's no games that interest me on it that i havnt already played and finished, i did consider getting HS, but 75 bucks for a 6 hour game is a waste, when i'm on a limited budget for how many games i can buy during the holiday months. And i'd honestly prefer to keep that money for the big hitters this year, which the PS3 has very few of.

Oh but not to worry, its future proof !!!, for who, the person who buys my console second hand because i get so bored of not having good games for it ???

I didn't say a word about the Future proof bull, I meant you can enjoy your PS3 now, it has games NOW, if you don't like WarHawk, you have HS, I recommand you to try this great game, if you are not buying it, then rent it, it is one of the best games on PS3 so far, as for other games, I have 10 games and Im still playing 6 of them, HS, R6V, NBA 2K7, Madden 08, Warhawk and RE:FOM.

BTW, games will keep coming and the biggest hits for both consoles will start from next month, don't worry, we are not the only guys waiting for more games, they got their beloved Halo 3 after three years of waiting.

BTW, I have both consoles and I also waited so long after GeOW, I didn't turn on my 360 until Bioshock came.

I have a question for lemmings, after Mass Effect comes out, what do you have after that?

"Long term" is a phrase I value and appreciate highly. It's not just in games but whatever decisions that are made with the future in mind usually turn out great. Right now, there's not so much reason to buy a PS3 but once they have the games, and the whole framework done, they'll reduce the price, just in time for me and others to get a new one.ken_gamer

Sony Computer Entertainment America president Jack Tretton said the number one reason to own a PS3 (PlayStation 3) is because the console is "future proof".

If the last 5 years of the consoles life is going to be games like "Ratchet and Clank 8, Metal Gear Solid 15, etc etc" then I will gladly jump ship to any new console that comes out that will offer fresh games or new ideas that make the games better.

With the speed of advances in technology right now, you CANNOT claim an electronic device is future proof, even if it is only 10 years.

Winner, Sony hasn't even given a years worth of games yet. Lets start about making sure that 08 is 2x as awesome then what should be needed to balance out quite possible the worst 1st year in the past 2gens of systems.

By the end of the PS3's first year it wil get Resistance, , Heavenly sword, Uncharted, Warhawk and Blu ray movies. All exclusive games that you can't play anywhere else. Also the best console version of UT3. It's not as good as the PS2, but next year will be different.RedMarzBoy

I think Resistance, NGS, Ratchet and Clank, Heavenly Sword, UT3, Haze, Uncharted, GT5 prolouge, Warhawk and a blu-ray player is a pretty good 1st year.

I'm still waiting for my Final Fantasy before I buy one though...
