[QUOTE="RonJonx10"]Not saying that KZ1 and KZ2 are not ok. Well KZ1 was buggy and bad framerate because of PS2 being weak. And KZ2 was a nifty graphics game that had mild interest but ended up having just ave sales. It was more of ok need to try the game to see if they met the E3 demo expectations but the online community dried up fairly fast. Anyway what I'm saying is we all know it's COD and Halo. And we all know KZ was Sony's attemp to crack that market and hope to have there halo type game on there system. It just did not happen the story and game world of KZ is just bland and boring no one cares about really. I mean really is anyone going to loose a wink of sleep if we did not see KZ3? Not to mention it would seem the budget to make this game will not meet the demand of worth while sales at this point. I think that Sony should just put this baby to bed.SolidTy
KZ2 DID not have Average sales. and it's to be considered much like a new IP. It's worse than a new IP. A new IP has no reputation. KZ2 came off of KZ1's BAD, NEGATIVE reputation, and is building on that.
It did a great job, and is only going to get better.
Did KZ2 sell like Wii Fit or a HALO game? No, like I said it was a bad name from KZ1, and has the tough job of winning over new folks. Still, it's selling and will keep selling as more and more people discover that gem of a game. KZ3 is going to step that effort up in a big way.
Quality wise, KZ1 and KZ2 are completely different games. They shouldn't even be in the same sentence. Go to Metacritic to check it out.
COD started off slow for consoles (didn't have a bad rap either), the old Medal of Honor started slow (didn't have a negative image to overcome), it takes time to build a franchise. Now that KZ2 is out, the engine is primed, and it's sold incredibly well for a series with a bad rap, Sony is primed for a sequel...and you think it would be good to stop?
KZ2 brought the KILLZONE franchise back to life. Now that it's alive and recieved so incredibly well critically, and has sold well considering, now is the perfect time to release a killer sequel. Improving the graphics, adding MP people want more of, etc. All those new 35+ million PS3 owners are primed and ready. It's building a good series, and that's hard part was KZ2 being of quality, the easy part is KZ3 building on KZ2's amazing engine.
This is not a good idea. No way. It may have been a good idea not to make KZ2 while the reputation of KZ1 was poor, but now that KZ2 came out to such amazing success critically, as well as great sales considering the variables (PS3, FPS, Bad Reputation to overcome), this is the foundation KZ3 needs to become a great franchise.
Look at Uncharted to Uncharted 2 Metacritic wise.
