Sony should just AXE the KZ franchise.

[QUOTE="gamebreakerz__"] That post is as broken as MW2.gamebreakerz__

Which Halo or Call of Duty game has sold 21.22 million, then? :P

Hexagon_777: Mummy, all my buddies have mario cart so I need it!!!! Mummy: OK darling! So essentialy all the casual kiddies buy it and BTW even though I don't like MW2, its sold 22 million and still going.

An exclusive selling 22 million is much more impressive than a game on 3 systems selling 22 million.

KZ2 improved on the mediocre KZ1, so why AXE the series if it's getting better?

But the fact of the matter is that the average age of the mario cart gamer is in single figures. If thats what you like then good for you but when you realise how shallow 99% of wii games are you will get rid of your wii ASAP as I did a few years ago and start playing some real games.

I dont own a wii nor do i care to ever own one. Also i find mario kart wii very mediocre. When someone is arguing sales=quality i dont get why mario kart is suddenly not invalid because of the average gamers age.

umm call of duty was not hugely popular until call of duty 4 modern warfare, so I think they should keep going with the KZ franchise, the visuals were amazing and the multiplayer was great it just missed mass appeal with the slugish controls.Totalgym9000
Call of Duty 2 was VERY popular and in my book (and many others) is the best CoD game ever to hit the shelves.

Because these kiddies only bought the game because it has mario and they can drive a cart with gimmicky motion controls. Sales =/= Quality

why is Sony funding two big budget FPS anyway? (resistance and killzone). They should just ditch one for the other. Since Killzone 2 was delayed numerous times, overbudgeted (initial 20 million budget to over 60 million in the end), and siphoned lots of Sony's valuable time and resources (major game development issues forced Sony to lend Guerrilla most of their top talents). Resistance on the other hand came out on time on a far smaller budget. Imaging how much better it would've been if Insomniac had all that budget, time, and resources that Guerrilla had. runbleduck

Simple. Resistance is the PS3's Halo. The gameplay is very much Halo, and the damage model, the sci fi weapons, multiple grenade types. It'ls Halo.

KZ2 is not, it's a different kind of FPS, and for all the comments about it being generic, no other FPS really plays quite like it. So they have a Halo-type game for people that like it, and another type of game for those who don't.

I'm sure there are people who like both, but they are so different I can see plenty of people preferring one over the other.

If they made better the multiplayer then I would be happy. Meanwhile, in the single story, they should make it better because right now the story is quite boring and also they must kill Rico, first level or on the events between KZ2 and KZ3. I don't want to hear that je*@!*? again.

If they did, wouldn't bother me, personally...I mean, it was a great game, but didn't quite wow me like other games I've played. But there are huge fans of the series, so I doubt they'd kill off the series this soon.

So what you are is saying is that Sony should cancel the Killzone franchise simply because it didn't beat Halo or CoD in sales even though it's a high quality game that sold millions?

I guess you also think Microsoft should cancel Halo if Reach doesn't beat MW2 sales right?

yes, axe games that scored a 9 or higher at most major sites. lol, wtf? R2- Gamespot=9 * Fantastic eight-player cooperative mode * Large, vividly detailed environments * Smart, tough enemies and huge, huge bosses * Lag-free online matches with up to 60 players * Varied and powerful weapons.

Whats score got to do with it!? The gaming market could be oversaturated with 9.0 shooters, but that still doesn't change the fact its oversaturated. I still think Resistance's existence is uneccessary. Its story is nothing special, and when it comes to game design, they just think that making everything bigger = better. Which btw is not the case. I'd much prefer Insomniac spent their resources coming up with a new, actually interesting IP, or even better, spent them making some uber awesome ratchet and clank game. But that would just be me being selfish.

yeah that makes sense.......AXE the game that just scored AAA. If you want to AXE one of PS3 FPS exclusive titles I would rather it be Resistance Fall of Man. The second one was majorly disappointing.

KZ2 was the sequel to an average game that was KZ1... so its not like it was easy for devs/game to succeed.. also the (visual) expectations from PS3 owners & specially haters were really high.. luckily KZ2 did deliver in all aspects, great visuals, good sp campaign & great multiplayer..

I think sony/GG should definately continue the KZ franchise, cause now is the right time considering that KZ has now a good 'reputation' among fps fans & the media...

Definatlely look forward to KZ3 & a KZ title for PSP :P

well i have to disagree, cause if dont agree in ending the KZ franchise simply cause KZ2 got a AAA score, the same should apply to the Resistance series which though not the best fps titles around, both were good titles (and both had decent/good reviews).. I enjoyed the 1st game (specially sp) and had a blast playing R2's multiplayer.. I think Insomniac have the chance to get the best from the first 2 titles, and improve upon that formula and they could easily have in hands a solid fps title..

Well i suppose the third deserves the benefit of the doubt, but if it ends up worse than the second, just like the second was worse (and sold worse) than the first. Well then the series is just going downhill and should be ended.

R2 was a great game in both SP and MP. I believe the people that constantly put it down were from europe and mad the architecture and voices were american cause i see no other reason.the narrator in R1 was quite annoying imo.

I am of two minds about it. It would be a shame axe a good series, but on the other hand, the PS3 might be better off not focusing on shooters. If they finish Killzone 3, I sincerely hope they add a local multiplayer mode.

Resistance has to go though.

I think most are missing the point. Don't you guys remeber back in the day Sony really was claiming and looking for KZ to be there all mighty Halo killer or at worst be as good and be on par with sales. The plan was Sony would be able to stop the bleeding from Halo dominance with KZ. LOL well it released and was a buggy frame rate mess on PS2.

My point is the story is bland and failry boring. And Sony is just trying to force a dead issue with this game now. I say SCRAP it and start a new way more better story exciting franchise as the new Halo killer. Especialy now being Bunievision is no longer doing Halo. And who knows what MS other studio will do with Halo now.

RonJonx10

Yeah, the sequel wildly outperformed everyone's expectations because of the first one being bad, both critically and commercially, it's one of the best-looking and best-playing shooters on consoles. They should axe it because it's successful, sure.

Are you an economist for Sony or something? (If you are one you're soon to be fired) I don't see why sales matter to gamers these days, maybe I just didn't pay attention but in the PsOne and N64 days no one cared about sales as much as they do now.

Personally I enjoyed Killzone 2 far more compared to Modern Warfare 1 and 2 combined.

I see no reason for them to axe the franchise but they do need to higher some experianced map makers for the next game. KZ2 mp has some of the worst maps I have ever played in a multiplayer shooter.

I feel like killzone series isn't that the quality is low (killzone 2 probably is top 5 best multiplayer designed games this generation) it is that brand name is hurting it. Killzone 1 was an infamous game, the cgi trailer was infamous. The marketing of the game is a disaster. They really should rebrand the game series.

Whoa, could not disagree more. KZ2 has fantastic maps, some of the best out there. I notice you are playing Modern Warfare 2, if you think those maps are good then we have a very different opinion on maps.

MW2 maps are decent at best but I cant really judge whether they are better since my gripe with the KZ2 maps are that some of them seem as if they were not made for a game controlled with a pad and I play MW2 on PC. Tight corridors, tight staricases, tight walkways these are not elements that make a good console mp map.

[QUOTE="reanimatedchamp"]I agree with this because more people are playing the Halo Reach beta than Killzone 2. Hell more people are still playing Halo 2. Killzone should be killed, in my personal educated reality of opinions.gamebreakerz__
I LOL at u so much. You don't even own a PS3 yet you have given almost every PS3 exclusive a 6.0 in your ratings. You even went as far as to give FFXIII a 9.5 on 360 and a 6.0 on PS3. O and hand in your man card for that gif.

Wasn't he the one who made a thread stating he likes bing.com because microsoft made it?? :)

I disagree. There are so many ways to kill in Killzone 2 that those tight corridors can be just what the doctor ordered. If you have a shotgun, C4, a rocket launcher, take those corridors and be ready to fight. If you have a longer range weapon, take up the rear. It's very class-based and the difference between everyone using their classes properly and not is just as pronounced as Battlefield. I won't try and convert anyone because I realize a lot of people hate Killzone 2, but I had a tremendous amount of fun with that game, and it wasn't because of what platform it was on, because I've played all the best on PC and most of them on Xbox as well. I think it would have held up well on any platform.

Are you kidding me? Its got one of the best kill "chirps" in gaming history. That alone is a reason to keep it around.

I agree, Killzone 2's maps are what made the multiplayer fun for me. I never got bored of any of the maps (the only other game that I've played whose maps I enjoyed as much as KZ2's was Modern Warfare I. I just started playing Halo 3 as well, and there are some pretty fun maps in it, but I haven't played enough to judge yet lol. It's a fun game though, and I can't believe I waited so long to get a 360). There are some fun maps in MW II, but a large portion of them aren't that fun to play.
