[QUOTE="RonJonx10"]Not saying that KZ1 and KZ2 are not ok. Well KZ1 was buggy and bad framerate because of PS2 being weak. And KZ2 was a nifty graphics game that had mild interest but ended up having just ave sales. It was more of ok need to try the game to see if they met the E3 demo expectations but the online community dried up fairly fast. Anyway what I'm saying is we all know it's COD and Halo. And we all know KZ was Sony's attemp to crack that market and hope to have there halo type game on there system. It just did not happen the story and game world of KZ is just bland and boring no one cares about really. I mean really is anyone going to loose a wink of sleep if we did not see KZ3? Not to mention it would seem the budget to make this game will not meet the demand of worth while sales at this point. I think that Sony should just put this baby to bed.tomarlynKZ2 stands firm and strong as a killer sci-fi FPS that doesn't try and be too far fetched. It also has a great atmosphere and the servers are always packed, I don't know why people say the community is drying up. Its engine would have been too expensive and is too technically mind blowing not to be used again on the PS3.It might be the constant complaints of barely anyone playing the dlc maps.:?
i see what you did there.Axe the Killzone franchise? Why? Killzone 2 was cIassy, one of the only online FPSs I actually took the time to level all the way in.

Killzone 2 was pretty average, most of the guns weren't interesting, and the story pretty much blew chunks
the online was pretty fun for awhile tho, at least until they nerfed spawn protection
imo it was a mistake to have you play as the ISA in Killzone 2, i think it would've been a more successful and far more interesting game to play as a Helghast, but alas they went for the Gears of War demographic instead, oh well
I agree, they should definitely axe KZ...
then it'll look AND smell great!! AHAHAHA that's a knee-slapper right there! amirite guyz?!

I'm definitely more sympathetic towards the Helghast, but I think the point is, to fight the war from the perspective of the oppressors. We always fight, in games, as the "good" guy, and I think this moral gray area is what sets KZ apart from other shooters.
How many people currently play now prior to the game's release?Only on System Wars a game selling about 3 million over a year is considered average...

I question the profitability of the franchise. It seems like so much work went into it, but really, the series has tough competition and hasn't been the Halo Killer fanboys obnoxiously hyped it to be. But blame that on fanboys and hype. Why axe it? It has its followers and fans and the game is well received.

The thing is, and people forget this, is that KZ was being hyped by everyone other than Sony and GG to be a Halo killer, and they were doing it before the game came out. Anyone who played Halo and KZ would know that the only thing they share in common is perspective. They're so different that they appeal to different gamers. One can not kill the other, because one cannot satisfy the fans of the other.
Resistance is far more like Halo than KZ, mediocre graphics, super arcadey gameplay, very high health, and "futuristic/alien" weaponry. I don't why KZ and Halo get compared at all really.
You have got to be kidding me! Axe killzone? You mean axe Gamespot's shooter of the year for 2009? It beat out Halo ODST and MW2 for that. It also managed to live up to it's legendary trailer from 2005 which is a feat itself. Killzone 3 will sell better than Killzone 2...trust me. Most people that complain about the game either want COD controls or want to camp. They can't stand it that they can't do an instant 180 and put a Headshot on someone. Killzone 2 is all about objectives and campers get chewed up. The player motion gives an actual weight which you have to account for. I'm glad KZ2 didn't do like Bad Company and pattern their weapons and gameplay to easily transition people off COD. KZ2 is a unique experience that really stands out on it's own and has boosted the Killzone franchise into a legitimate title for PS3. -ArchAngeL-777-Well,one of KZ2's control layout(alt2) is very similar to COD's and it a very popular control layout in KZ2 as well. Why can't COD be about objectives and chewing up campers? considering there are more objective based gametypesand gametypes in general incomparison to KZ2 and chewing up campers is just a matter of the player's skill.
And actual weight? no man you mean pseudo weight as the game isn't even based on physics. It just riddled with input lag, inconsistent acceleration curve, and large deadzone; none has to do with the DualShock 3 otherwise GG would not had included precision mode(why is this feature in the game?) but how the game was design. There is no dynamic weight system to the weapons, holding a simple pistol weight as much asan RPG.

Seems based on physics to me, guns have different physics (shooting), grenades roll differently based on surface and how hard/what angle they hit it at.
Im honestly not a huge shooter fan and have yet to try Killzone 2. It wouldn't bug me if I never saw another, but there are lots of folks who like the franchise so more power to em'.

you are right on point. resistance is more like halo than kz2. two different flavors of fps. one is a murder sim the other is an arcady frag fest. i love all three. but halo and r2 have moree incommon with each other[QUOTE="Pug-Nasty"]

i can see why they did that, but i think at the end of the day with a video game where you're the one doing the mass killing i think playing as the enemy and killing the guys you were previously playing as would be a little more concrete for the average player than being an ambiguous gray-area
ie: playing AvP 2000 or Starcraft where you can play as what would be considered the enemy in other fps/rts, you can more obviously sympathize with something you're playing as or a side you're playing for, it's such that in those games there's nobody anybody would call the good guy or the bad guy, so that perfectly illustrates the same theme but without necessarily making the player feel like a butcher
So...axe the Killzone franchise because it doesn't make as much money as Halo? My God, that's a horrible business strategy.
lol if uncharted 2 was >>>>> halo then it would have more ppl playing the game. yet the online is dieing. its not in halo reach, halo 3, or even halo 2's level. the number of ppl online determines how good a game is. so no, 10 million ppl would dissagree that uncharted 2 is >>haloThey should axe it because it doesnt have teh salez?
Then they should also axe:
- Uncharted Franchise
- Resistance Franchise
- inFamous Franchise
- LBP Franchise
Seeing as they dont have the sales as CoD or Halo....
Seriously....

btw:

I don't think either of those games (MP wise) is that great, but why do you think U2's online is dying? I've been online from time to time since it released. I always find a game rather quickly, even in the co-op (which I would think would be first to die out).

Yeah that would make sense if popularity dictates the quality of something. That's like saying Avatar was best film of 09 simply because it grossed more at the box office. Not downplaying the quality of the Halo series, but simply citing the amount of people who play it as the reason why it's better is just silly.

the ammount of ppl who play it is not about popularity, well maybe a little. but if a game is good and addictive then ppl will stick with it as its main game to play. there is a reason why halo 3 AND halo 2 has/had huge amount of ppl playing it. M$ didnt "brainwash" them into playing with their ads. they choose to play it simply because it is the best of the best.[QUOTE="Lionheart08"]

So instead on improving on something thats already great lets just drop it and shoot int he dark again. I think thats just silly. Its like starting a art project and droping it halfway and saying to yourself "its great and I know I can make it better but let me just drop it and never ever bother with it again."
