Just because Sony fails at everything they do these days including their woeful attempt to go casual with the Move which they ripped off Nintendo like they always do, does not make them some beacon of hope for hardcore gamers.

This is coming from another Sony fanboy: Nintendo is, to some degree, returning to its core audience. Yeah I'll agree with you about Microsoft, but PC gaming is doing just fine.

Sure but in comparrison to their MS this gen in terms of fostering new IP's (lifeblood of the industry) they are doing a better job easily instead of throwing cash at acti.Only real new IP of note MS has brought in this gen is Gears of War really when you really think bout it.

nah develpers fostering new IP's and moving forward instead of following the big trend is what really keeps the industry afloat, but its funny how people think the PC is the be all and end all of gaming, pretty pathetic it comes down to dev's and their focus.
Look at the last vg crash it happened because of low quality across the board despite primarily being from atari it caused a massive shock to the PC market aswell, if there was another crash a similar situation would fall upon us pc gamers are not immune to the problems of the industry like they seem to think.

Exceot the vg crash didn't cause any real harm to computer gaming. So I don't see why another crash could seriosly damage PC gaming now. THe effects would be harder because of more multiplat-centric development, but majority of PC devs are PC-centric, so they would be easily able to either ignore the crash or simply weather the storm.

The majority of PC devs arent PC centric either look at the plethora of big titles from a lot of companies that are released simultaneously on PC.Maybe on the smaller scenes but on the main scene there would be a clear knock on effect contrary to what seems your beleif and the general system wars hermit belief not all of you or INDIE 4 life and buy big budget games like every other gamer out ther actually pretty sure a certain game hermits frequently crap on is strangely one of the top sellers in steam aswell.

The whole PC industry was always europe-centric and there was no crash there. And even in US I've never heard anything about sales goind down. In fact the only article I've ever read about the effects of videogame crash on computer gaming stated that the crash has led to a boom in computer gaming, heck...the computer gaming's rising popularity was one of the reasons (albeit not the dominant one) for videogame crash in the first place

Stats prove you're wrong. Majority of PC devs make games only for PC. Add those who make games primarly for PC and you're left with little number of PC devs left

I guess you're simply too much of a conole gamer. Console gaming is all you know and you have troubles with the idea that PC industry might not work exactly the same way.
You act like there are only small indie games and big budgeted megablockbuters. THat's how it is on consoles. On PC majority of games fall in between those categories. Most PC devs have 10-30 peoples teams and make games for less than 5 mln dollars. Even the biggest PC devs (aside from Blizzard) would count as mid to small on consoles.

This board is more doom and gloom than ever :o its like 50% of the users all started puberty at the same time or something :x. We don't need a last hope and pc gaming seems to be going from strength to strength, plus its a nice escape from all the multi-million budget big hitters that over saturate the console market (a trend Sony started that is hurting them now).

This is very true, all the systems have something nice to offer. Also, it surprises me (not really) that so many people here want one of the three consoles to drop out or fail. Does nobody realize that competition is very good for the industry for us gamers regardless of what system you own?
