SONY VS Microsoft... SONY is making money.. MS Gaming Division ISN'T!

ONE very important and over looked factor people seem to be forgetting here is Microsoft's gaming division hasnt turned a profit yet ever since the Xbox came out whereas sony's game division has been profitable for several years now. They made tons of Profits on PSone Hardware AND software, STILL making tons of profit on PS2 Hardware/Software and im pretty sure the PSP is profitable now as well.  Sure you might say "but microsoft has all the money in the world, who cares if the gaming division is not profitable" well first off I can assure you while MS has lots of money yes but they DONT have all the money in the world. You do understand that if something ever happened to Microsoft's core business, that the first division to bite the dust would be the least profitable division.. The gaming Division.

And also taking into consideration the expense MS has to pay to fix the faulty 360s and paying for shipping costs as well.  Ofcourse im not naive and I even realize that the chances of microsoft EVER getting in any kind of financial trouble is very very slim BUT the fact lies is IF they ever got in trouble financially, i can guarantee the first division shareholders would vote off is the gaming division. While the PS3 itself might be losing money for now, the PS2 and PSone was so profitable not including blu ray selling really well, they can actually afford to take a loss on the PS3 and STILL BE PROFITABLE! While again, MS hasnt been profitable ever since the Xbox came out.

Really people are overlooking this aspect but it is a very very important aspect. Bottom line is Sony's gaming division has been profitable for over several years now whil MS has NOT

I dont think 360 is quite at the profit point yet, However they MIGHT be close to the "break even" point BUT paying to fix and ship the faulty 360s is what is holding them back

Well, microsoft are making money and Sony are breaking even.

Sony relies on it entertainment and Gaming divisions to make money, Microsoft doesn't.

Maybe I think MS is doing pretty well this time around alot better than they did with the first xbox. I guess we will see.

I would disagree. Look at many of your past threads. many of them just flat out was there to annoy people and you kept at it like sometimes with 5 threads a night bashing the PS3. Keep it up dude if you wanna follow certain posters and their fate.

Debating is fine but starting so many threads and being such a huge fanboy but pretending you're not and that you like Sony a lot more is hilarious. Just admit you hate the 360 and MS cause all you do is bash it or find negatives but yet claim  "no no I have a 360 and I like it a lot " like you did in PM's to me yet your posts couldn't be further from that kind of thinking

Well he says over and over he owns a 360 so he shouldn't be biased. But a picture with his name next to it isn't proof enough to me.

Sony is a low volume traded stock, Where M$ is a high volume stock.

Sony trades any where to 1 million to 2 million shares aday. where as M$ breaks into the 30 million sahres traded daily one average. 

If we expand this to add Nintendo... ... well that's not fair to Sony's gaming division or Microsofts gaming division...

alot of people forget that with MS the Home entertainment division (there is no gaming division) is the only division at MS that isn't making money.  MS sees it as a money well spent, because they want market share in this area not profit (at this point in time).  Also the dreadful zune is included in these figures which has to account for a pretty big loss.

On the sony side the Computer Entertainment Division is the only sony area that's pulling a profit, and is basically the only thing keeping sony afloat. 

If we expand this to add Nintendo... ... well that's not fair to Sony's gaming division or Microsofts gaming division...

Sony isn't making money on the PSP.  And they're definintely not making money off the PS3.  their profits are coming from the PS2 (if there are any net profits at all).  If you keep the conversation purely in the context of nextGen gaming, I'd have to believe Microsoft is much more profitable at this point.  or at least...they're losing a lot less money.Dreams-Visions

Actually dude, Wouldnt it be more of a chance of me being banned if i talked about something else other than console VS console?! I mean the mods here seem to be real strickt about not posting off topic subjects and what not. The fact remains is this is system wars, what else am i suppose to post about? If i think of a good topic.. I post it, simple as that. Show me the rules I am breaking since you are so sure I will get banned. Im not using profanity, obscenities, name calling, typing titles in all caps etc, so what rules am i breaking?!

DUDE microsoft's gaming division was last reported at a 5 billion dollar loss, the PSP is making a profit by now, its been nearly 3 years, im sure they are making something off the PSP by now
