"In terms of sheer breadth and depth, we are in a better shape in terms of third-party support for this console launch than certainly any I've ever launched," House said. "We are more committed to new IP establishment and delivery than most other platform holders out there."says PlayStation boss Andrew House

Sony's dedication towards creating new IP's has sure paid off big time with the PlayStation 3 and to a lot of gamers PlayStation is known to be the place where the best console exclusives are at.

Eh. SSM does a good job. And Demon's Souls was pretty good.

But yes, aside from those, their studios are largely unimpressive.

Sadly those new IPs typically reskin ideas from other popular titles, and are usually poorly done.

Plus all he was saying is that because the PS4 sold so much, they have money to fund more risky IPs. Well, that's what you get when you hype up "next gen" as they did.

With all those people who bought a ps4, they better get some announcements soon, because right now it's in paperweight status.

They shouldn't have to actually say this. Everybody already knows it to be true.

3 new AAA IPs last gen in Uncharted, Little Big Planet and The Last Of Us. How many did Nintendo and Microsoft produce? Xbox 360 had Gears and Nintendo had nothing that I am aware of.

Which is a good thing imo.. the more systems they sell the more new IP's we'll see alongside already established IP's from last gen i mean who would have ever thought to see Naughty Dogs work on multiple games at the same time? heck the even confirmed to be working on multiple projects already not counting the other Sony studios, a lot of exciting stuff going on.

To each their own but i personally have enjoyed a lot of the exclusives they released on PS3 alongside the 3rd party games.. last gen surely was a very impressive generation and here's hoping for a far greater one in this new generation.

keep em coming Sony!

I actually liked Mod Nation Racers, It's a lot better than mario Kart because it gives you a way to defend yourself against items. Unlike Mario Kart's random item OPness. It also rewarded you for doing good drifts and turns. But games like that may not see the light of day again, and are out shined by games of the same genre with a higher fan base.

If you want to play the only Gamespot matters card then PS3 end ups up with a lot more AAA games than if we us Metascore, with a more deserving game left out.

Easily believeable for me. Sony seems to be the place where the riskier successes come from that isn't PC.

Doesn't change the fact that MS introduced some good new IPs last gen

Gears

Mass Effect

Viva Pinata

Shadow Complex

Fez

Alan Wake

Toy Soldiers

Splosion Man

Orcs Must Die

Dust

Mark of the Ninja

All published by Microsoft. Just because they aren't all exclusive doesn't mean that MS isn't bringing great games.

Lets be real tea, most of Sony's "New IPs" they put out last gen were trash outside of NaughtyDog, Sucker Punch, and Media Molecule.

Sony's strategy = throwing shit at the wall with no quality control whatsoever, and seeing what sticks. And when it doesnt stick, keep throwing it until it does. Proof? The Resistance series. The Motorstorm series, etc....

I like infamous out of gen 7 but not much else from Sony. Gravity rush and tearaway are good this gen and I would love to sequels for both of them.

Aside from infamous, their new IPs last gen tended to lack an identity or much quality. Here's hoping they'll produce new IPs at more of a PS2 level of quality and variety.

ITT: useless opinions on games people never even owned the system to play them on let alone the games themselves. Also disliking an IP = the IP doesn't count lol. Doesn't defeat the truthfulness in statement. So you didn't like them...who cares? Lot's of other people did :). #dealwithit

I'd say what set it apart more than anything was the choice between good and evil and that choice having an effect on your character's powers as well as the way the open world reacts to you. It sets itself apart from the other open world superhero games in that way.

It let's you live out that fantasy of what you'd do if you were given powers. It's exciting and interesting to explore both pathways.

Hmmm. That is a good point. I played the demo for 2 but i could not get in to it. The story and gameplay seemed to be good but i think it was the way the 2 available side missions were presented that took me out. I guess what i would say is that it did not seem like the side missions fitted into the narrative like RDR's did.

That is a pretty stupid way of thinking, but this is System Wars. A lot my favorite games this past generation scored in the 80s.

This is true.

However, the best exclusives on consoles are with Nintendo, not PlayStation.

When PlayStation can sell four generations of consoles based on nothing but its so called exclusive lineup, then we'll talk.

Like Sony's IPs were really THAT good. lol Naughty Dog pulled everyone else's weight. asides from their IPs, Sony's other IPs were pretty lackluster.

3 new AAA IPs last gen in Uncharted, Little Big Planet and The Last Of Us. How many did Nintendo and Microsoft produce? Xbox 360 had Gears and Nintendo had nothing that I am aware of.

Xenoblade? I'm sure there are more, but that immediately comes to mind.

Only counting console IPs, last generation Nintendo did Xenoblade, The Last Story, Pandora's Tower, Disaster: Day of Crisis, Wii, and Endless Ocean.

Not even close to the level that Sony did it, but this myth that Nintendo does not do any new IPs is just that, a myth. The Wii U, for example, has already had The Wonderful 101, is getting X, and has Miyamoto's new IP and Koizumi's new IP in the works.

This is true.

However, the best exclusives on consoles are with Nintendo, not PlayStation.

When PlayStation can sell four generations of consoles based on nothing but its so called exclusive lineup, then we'll talk.

What's Microsoft's big IP next year again? Oh yeah, Halo.

Nintendos'? Mario Kart lol

and ps4's? uncharted

The Order 1886. New IP from a new developer(to home consoles) getting a MAJOR push....

Wii U has X.

X isn't a new IP. Isn't it Xenogears 2 basically?

By same people who made Xenogears and code named "X". I'm skeptical.
