[QUOTE="gmastersexay"]Yeah, SCEA isn't going for a bid either, check the first article. The two companies actively engaged are Ubisoft and Activision.Think Again!

One company that says it's not in the running is Microsoft (Charts). Because today's independent publishers are platform agnostic - that is to say, they build games for all major systems - taking over one would result in a massive revenue loss for Microsoft, as all development would be redirected toward the Xbox 360.
"We could never launch an acquisition bid at a third party publisher," said Shane Kim, corporate vice president of Microsoft Game Studios.

[QUOTE="DaysAirlines"][QUOTE="musicalmac"][QUOTE="DaysAirlines"][QUOTE="too_much_eslim"]That is what I really don't understand. Shane Kim told me. Boy wouldn't that raise some sort of H-E double hockey sticks on this board! Haha, to make it even worse if you check out the 1UP interview with Shane Kim he said upcomming games you think are exlusive to the PS3 right now won't be...well just watch the interview. Trust me, I'm not saying this in a "prove it!" tone, but... link?Link

And by the way your talking about the 1up interview, and Shane Kim was reffering to VF5.
[QUOTE="gmastersexay"]Once again Microsoft makes another blunder. First it was HS now this. They have the smallest in house game development, this could actually strengthen it. Oh well their loss. If they ened up not getting GTA IV good for them. Sounds like you either didn't read or didn't understand that article. Take 2 makes many games most of which are multiplat. If MS bought them then all T2 games would be made for 360 and maybe PC. By making T2 a first party dev for MS they would be cutting 2/3s of T2's potential revenue since they wouldn't be making games for Ps3 or Wii. In other words Take 2's value is in 3rd party developement not first party. Making it first party would severely cut it's value equaling a pretty big lose for whoever bought them.Think Again!

[QUOTE="DaysAirlines"]LinkmusicalmacThx. The links on the bottom, there is a part three and a part 2, I forget which one it was.
it wouldnt be smart to buy a company and then just crush part of it, that would be a major loss[QUOTE="BillGates_Money"][QUOTE="Tamarind_Face"]EA is the one whose gonna buy this one, they want 2K sports... They want it to die.
Sgt_Hale
Of course it would, that's how business works. You buy out and strangle the competition. This would give EA a stranglehold on the sports genre. Even if they continued any of the games in 2k's line, it wouldn't be with the full support that the games have enjoyed thus far. Eventually they'd sizzle out. Think about it, why would they want to put development money into two football, basketball, baseball, etc franchises when they would now have the opportunity to just focus on their own knowing that they don't have anymore competition?
no no you guys are right about that i was talking about all the developers under t2[QUOTE="DaysAirlines"][QUOTE="musicalmac"][QUOTE="DaysAirlines"][QUOTE="too_much_eslim"]That is what I really don't understand. You guys are dreaming if you think HS isn't still exclusive to Sony. It's being published BY Sony. Sony is paying for the development. So you can pretty much kill the idea of that one jumping ship.
Shane Kim's excuse is just that... an excuse. What he's saying is why pay for a company that will already be making game's for us when we'll have to turn around and start paying for the development too. Sure there is some truth to that but the underlying factory is that Microsoft's game division isn't in a place of financial strength to be able to afford such a purchase. Because the truth of the matter is, it's not about what games would already be coming to the 360, it's about what games they would have been able to take away from Sony.
Sony is still king when it comes to exclusives and Microsoft hasn't learned what it takes to reverse this.
Yeah neither MS or Sony are, I raked the whole article for it. Sorry about that.DaysAirlines
Please explain to me why SCEA isn't bidding either. I read that CNN article and found nothing on Sony :(
Or are you just saying that SCEA is under the same situation just because Microsoft are?

Interesting.
Also, I doubt Microsoft would let Sony make such a purchase without stepping in themselves.
EA could still very much be a buyer:
"As for potential buyers, the list is long. Game publishers UbiSoft and Activision (Charts) have reportedly explored a possible bid. Elevation Partners, the venture capital group whose members include U2 front man Bono, is a possibility as well. And Rupert Murdoch's News Corp (Charts). has also been mentioned regularly as a possible suitor."
Ubisoft and Activision have placed bids, hopefully EA doesn't.
MS is gonna buy this. they just got the money. and than it's the for sony's gaming consoles. this is gonna be a huuuuuuuuuge fightThey've already announced that they're not bidding on it. You're not paying attention. Their gaming division can't afford it.
and don't tell me MS isn't going to bid for this one... thats just nonsense

I think me and you are alone on this. The rest of the thread seems to think MS and Sony are placing bids. Not me, I know the truth.Thats probably correct since you need to all the right pieces to keep a company that big functioning correctly. Now if it were just a studio thats different, but a publisher thats a great undertaking. Now if it were just to buy Rockstar, now that would be a good call. But the whole shabang, I don't think so.ÂThink Again!

[QUOTE="waynehead895"]Bidding war. Hmm.... Well we know who has the advantage in this one.kcpp2b
I think MS and Sony are just staying closed lipped on this deliberately. Why would they want the other major companies knowing they are in the bidding? They want to keep the competition secret until the first shots are really fired.
They would both be CRAZY if they didn't bid. Call me what you want, I did read the article about them no bidding, that doesn't mean I don't think they will.
This is how Bill Gates made Windows dominant...by buying over other companies/exlusives. Lets just wait and see how this is going to end up...I doubt EA is gonna buy it. MS has this in the bag.MudigFor sure i'm sure Bill Gates has enough in his left pocket to buy them.
Would be funny if Nintendo scores Rockstar and change the entire series into a kiddy park

It'll be no doubt EA is going to win something. If GTA goes to EA / UBISOFT, it'll be multiplatform on all systems (PS3, 360, Wii, PC) no matter what. GTA IV would be my last purchase for the series. Number 5 is a no go.redneckdouglasIt wouldn't be on the Wii. You kid yourself. Where is Graw 2? Where is Army of two?
MS has this in the bag.MudigIf they want it, I can't see any other company keeping them from getting it.
Sony will snag it up in no time, M$ ruined RareMattBrianBull*hit. People retired from Rare before the sale. And BTW, Rare has the most AA games of any single dev house this generation. all highly-regarded AA games, too. They still have the magic.
