I hope the others know how to make a game console, otherwise this could be the last playstation. :(
Cheers to Kutaragi, and the joy of gaming he brought into this community.

And you don't here too much of him anymore either.
He really did get promoted (unlike Ken). J Allard is:
Corporate Vice President, Design and Development, Entertainment and Devices Division;)Â
And I am sure with a nice office in the basement storage closet and red stapler to go along with that office.

J Allard? Hell naw. That was Ken. J is moving up quickly at Microsoft. And for good reason. He really is good at what he does.Â
They got over cocky with that $600 price.l_The_DetoX_lAgreed. How ignorant of them to think that a $600 game console would appeal to the mass market.

The idiot who invented the Playstation and sold 280 million between PS1, PS2 and PSP thx to him.Â

They do have the power to influence , otherwise they wouldn't have these high paying positions.Â

Yes because they would choose any run of the mill person to advise them on technology because we all know a company would pay a person for advice they didn't plan on listening to >.> Money well spent.

The creator of the PS is an idiot? Not quite sure this is accurate.Â
The man was a genius. The problem is simply that he wasn't concerned with things like cost and efficiancy. The PS3 is amazing, but it's not very good for the market it's in.
I feel saddened. He did give us the ps1 and ps2 don't forget. Sure he was a wacky guy and a little too ambitious with the PSP and PS3 designs but I have feeling that they both will be looked upon as successes. The PSP is getting their foot in the door with handheld gaming and the ps3 is going to fairly well imo over the next 8 years. He helped make SW a fun place with his quotes.Â
*Sigh*ah-nar-ah Krazy Ken.

Ya know... I keep seeing people post this - but, he didn't have any problems with the PSone and PS2, in terms of making it affordable. What's his excuse for the PS3?Say what you want fanboys, but this man sold more systems than anyone else out there and grew the videogames industry by MILLIONS of consumers. He is a legend.watchcityAre you counting the PSP? Because if you're counting handhelds, than that isn't even close to being an accurate statement.

Other Sony execs. breathing down his neck.
He did made videogames more mainstream than it was 12 years ago. Without PS, games would still cater to a small demographic and console games would not have evolve tremendously and significantly.
And with PS3 sales dwindling significantly, it's probably time for him to commit sepuku

So why do people keep saying that "Kuturagi was an engineer who didn't think about efficiency and affordability"? :| That dosen't make any sense.[QUOTE="Tylendal"][QUOTE="dhjohns"][QUOTE="cooler890"]its about time Sony got rid of that idiotHeedleGlavin

Agreed. So, we'll just agree that Kuturagi was pressured by Sony execs to push Blu-ray into the PS3.Im seeing some people Rag on Ken a little harshly. Although lately he hasn't made the best of decisions he has created some awesome consoles in the past and the PS3 in no exception imo. However I have heard about some things that if I remember correctly mentioned Ken being one of the reasons the PS3 was losing exclusives. Something about him simply being lazy and not trying nearly as hard as he should or could be doing to snatch them up, even for timed ones. However I really have no sources and i jsut remember reading about it not to long ago (about a month?)
Â
Still sad to se him go but honestly it isn't necesarily bad for all we know whoever is taking his place will be better at the job.

Not saying it was the case here, but I have personally witnessed a problem employee becoming an advisor to keep them out of the way. We had an employee that was a real nightmare, they couldn't supervise, couldn't get along with anyone, didn't complete tasks, but the higher ups felt firing was too risky (lawsuits) so they created and advisor position. That was exactly all the person could do was advise, we were under no obligation to follow the recommendations. The hope was that they would get bored having no power and leave.

WOW, for what for creating the PLAYSTATION, you do know he is the one behind the console right.
Crazy Ken resigning = damage control by him. He jumped ship before the PS3 gets totally run into the ground and all the blame went to him. Carmilla31QFT
Ok so according to Lemming's logic, I guess when bill gates retires it must mean Microsoft is doomed?! Man, im just still wondering how companies such as GE, Ford, GM are still alive I mean afterall, the founders of those companies are no longer with us  gotta love fanboy ignoranceBrutonNYC
well yess.....because we all know that J. Allard would proably run MS down to the ground.( I'm serious)Â

Crazy ken is leaving the gaming part of Sony that is in a huge lose as far as money goes.
