[QUOTE="CanYouDiglt"]I am only saying I just do not see Sony's thing( again it does not have a name) near ready to go against Natal. Also as far as AAA calibur games you act like 360 does not also have them. Reach, Fable, Alan Wake and so on.

CanYouDiglt

1st off, why does sony need to go against NATAL???!?!!! I'm willing to bet that NATAL isn't going to be as much of a blockbuster hit like you may be expecting. The 360 is way too hardcore for NATAL. 2ndly, I like your "AAA" list count. From what i can see, only Halo: Reach looks to be a AAA title. Fable 3: Since when have a Fable game received AAA scores, yet lems still will consider Fable a AAA series. Alan Wake; Does this game have a release date yet?

We could go back and forth on games but that is not the point. If you honestly do not see how Sony's (wiimote) does not compete against Natal then I really do not know what to say.

http://www.playstationuniversity.com/the-blackbuster-special-which-upcoming-motion-control-has-more-potential-1795/ Can you at least present arguments against that video?

[QUOTE="ermacness"]

that word "embarrassment" is such a subjective word, because from what i recall, the people at E3 really took to the sony wand as well as they did with NATAL. The difference was that the sony's wand was actually in your face deal, where as NATAL was a in your face deal, but alot of it was a video fake

musicalmac

Well, what I got out of it was that one company was prepared, and presented a demo on their product, as well as a benchmark for what they were shooting for by the time of release. The other company... well... IB said it well:
At least the Natal presentation didn't look like it was planned the day before. :PIronBass
Yup.

with a fake video of milo:lol: Sony's wand wasn't as robust as NATAL, but it was actual presentation. The milo scenes at E3 with NATAL was a fake.

BTW, The sony wand sure enough made the wii motion controls look dated, and nothing but bad news is coming from NATAL as of recent. This is the only peice of bad news i read from sony and the wand since E3 09

[QUOTE="musicalmac"][QUOTE="i_am_interested"]why? because sony had the actual tech people behind it demonstrating it and not some PR guy like kudo tsunoda? what was embarrassing was that "ever want to see the bottom of an avatars shoe" mishap - i dont think a tech guy would have made a mistake like thati_am_interested
Did you see the video your fellow GS user was kind enough to link on the last page? That's not so much a demo as it is a mistake. A video would have been better than that.

what video? the tennis ball video? if so thats because he's trying to figure out where a 2d ball is in a tv in real life 3d space, its all guesstimates to accurately hit something like that you would need stereoscopic 3d

The guy was at E3 demonstration for the tech behind this wand thing and could not even hit a ball! If you honestly can not see how that demo for the wand tech was pure fail then I am at a loss of words. This is not some random person but someone that helped make the game and still he can not get it to work.

Actually, I argued that the delay is good news for consumers. Read closely the posts you reply to, my friend.

Besides, your biggest complaint with the Natal presentation is the pre-recorded video of Milo. Ironically, that's probably going to work better than anything else Natal will end up doing.

Wow really first you need to compare Natal to Eyetoy and now rrod? I feel like I jumped back into 2008 with the PS3 defensive excuses coming out.

I didn't say that the wand doesn't compete with NATAL, what i said was that sony doesn't really need to compete with NATAL at all because NATAL isn't going to catch on like you may think it will, not for the 360 crowd. Motion control and hardcore doesn't mix at all, and the wii is living proof of this

Nah. As long as it's the "actual tech", it does not matter if it was a clearly incomplete prototype and a rushed presentation.... :P

Yeah, he got it eventually- accidentally. If they had done it the way Microsoft did, they would have managed to show the long-term goals of the 'wand', and we the consumers (you and I, and everyone else here) would have gotten a much better picture at Sony's new motion technology.

Why make excuses?

You do know demo stands for DEMOnstratatation right? I mean it is supposed to DEMOstrate what a game can do So if a person that helps makes the game then shows it off to the public at a show like E3 can not get it to work on their DEMOstration then me the average gamer is screwed.

But the point is that they didn't. It looked -and probably was- rushed, and the result was that, a half-cooked pesentation that actually didn't do any favor to the tech behind it.

As far as overpromising and underdelivering goes, Sony has already taken that crown. That's theirs to keep for a long time. [QUOTE="IronBass"] Nah. As long as it's the "actual tech", it does not matter if it was a clearly incomplete prototype and a rushed presentation.... :P

Our point is this: in terms of what both devices can actually do, no one here knows for sure. No one here has used them, and probably they are not 100% ready yet. But what was showed could have been showed in two ways: a good, well prepared one; or a rushed, meh one. Being the E3, and being a demostration of future techs, the first way is the one to go.

This has already been posted in SW.

Link to 'The Sony Motion Delay Thread.'

As far as the delay...if that's what it takes.

This project and Natal aren't interesting until they unveil real AAA exclusive game software, not ports or shovelware. The real issue is showing off WHY we want these products.

This isn't Sony's first RODEO when you look at the Eyetoy on PS3, Sixaxis on PS3, and other projects, so if they need to take time to find a reason for gamers like me to actually want this, then they should take their time.

Delay's are okay, like Alan Wake, Splinter Cell, GT5, Zelda : Twilight Princess...so I'm okay with delays.

----------

EDIT : Yeah, Batman AA is another great one, there is so many delays that have happened for the good. Of course, delay's aren't surefire, like Too Human taught us.

SolidTy

Spot on man, delays are part of the industry and most often than not they unveil a much better product in the end. Why people whine and moan about them are beyond me. It's not like most of us are dying to try out Sonys Wand in the first place.

[QUOTE="asdasdrgr"]Natal's presentation was so embarassing it got to be in this vid. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LgNbfRrH1jI&feature=PlayList&p=FD3379E008E32E61&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=55

hahah BAM!! haha i still lol at that.

IronBass

Nah, not really. It's quite funny, but far from embarrasing.

Did you see the video? It got nominated for E3: 2009 Gametrailers most embarrassing moment and while it didn't win, they made fun of it when they announced the winner "at least we didn't get to see the bottom of jame's cameron shoe(suggesting that natal was the most embarassing one)" Now i know why it didn't win(they would make fanboys angry while picking on a movie made game, wouldn't affect much fanboys).

[QUOTE="i_am_interested"] yeah, ok, some of us actually see through fake videos and actually see tech for what it isIronBass
Not really. No one here fully knows this tech, nor how it will be used.

actually yeah one presentation was 100 percent real time meaning everything is possible, one presentation wasnt meaning everything could be possible

although i would actually very impressed if a camera could tell whether i was upshifting or down shifting a car in midair with just my hand without an actual piece of hardware

[QUOTE="ermacness"]

with m$ track record with hardware, they'll need more than a fake vid and a probable promise to convince me in that sense with NATAL

musicalmac

As far as overpromising and underdelivering goes, Sony has already taken that crown. That's theirs to keep for a long time.
Nah. As long as it's the "actual tech", it does not matter if it was a clearly incomplete prototype and a rushed presentation.... :PIronBass
Oh right. How silly of me to even doubt. :P

ok, fair enough, but that still doesn't change that fact that m$ hardware skills are slacking tremendously. They're still trying to find a "definite" cure for the RROD even though they found a way that'll make the RROD syndrome much less apparent after 3+ yrs (exactly how many models of 360 was suppose to be "the cure" to RROD, and how many chipstes did that make to combat this same threat?), on top of that, the 360 acquired more problems like dvd scratching, E74 issues, and overheating issues. Plus the official wired headsets becomes non functional very easily, and the wireless mics have huge issues of not working after some time of being unused, and their play and charge kits are very unreliable. I'm not saying that sony are angels, but their wrong doesn't automatically makes m$ wrong righteous because sony told bigger lies. M$ don't do great hardware. Their software is clearly better, but their hardware is laughable at best:lol:

The problem is... that that"everything" was so poorly presented that acually doesn't help. At all.

The RRoD is quite a huge problems, but hardly an indicator of what MS can do hardware-wise. The PS2 was also very unreliable (and we could find more examples for Sony), but that didn't stop the PS3 from being quite a well-built system.

Well, since I'm not an expert, I have no way to judge if the removal of that processor will affect Natal. I'll judge after it's released, so no, right now I don find it half-baked.
Can you give me any studies proving that? asdasdrgr
I could, but it's not needed since it's as well known fact. Like RRoD.

No, RROD has studies backing up the failure rate, if you want i can show them. But can you prove the claim you made about the ps2 having a high failure rate?

of course you dont find it half baked, they took that thing out right after E3 where claimed it was going to be in there fake videos, lag, missing processors, whats next?

but the ps2 had mainly one issue, and that was DRE. The 360 have more than just the RROD, it's just that the RROD happens to be the biggest problem, and the only reason why the DRE was as big as it wast is because sony failed to acknowledge the problem and admit to it, resulting into a class action law suit. The RROD was acknowledge and admitted by m$ to be on their hands and to have a warranty to only cover the RROD specifically, and it still made head line news, and the breaking accessories that complements the RROD and other problems doesn't paint a pretty picture for m$

Well, we have to see after it's released don't we? It's not like a processor less means something to us, people who have no idea about how this tech actually works or what every processor does.

Yeah, the 360 is more unreliable and have more problems than the PS2 had. But, on the other hand, the first one was reliable. My point is simply that we can't talk from a "track record" when only one console have been that unreliable. We simply have no idea how reliable Natal will be.
