What do you mean? Microsofts mopping the floor with Sony, I think this announcement was too soon. They should have saved this for Gamescom. The world isn't ready for this sort of technology.

It's all about the consumer over at Microsoft. You don't think they'd make you use your other batteries, would you? Microsoft would feel terrible. That's why you can only use Xbox-compatible Microsot branded AA batteries for $20.

You paid extra for the play and charge kit. You can just charge your PS3 controller while you're playing.

You can do that on the 360 and Xbox One controller. Also the new X1 controller you can use the charge cable to play without batteries.

more useless info. Why does it need a play and charge kit in 2013 when it can come inbuilt into the controller? Why does M$ need to charge separately for something that is built in standard into every device these days? My cellphone is less than half the size of a 360 controller and has a lithium ion battery in it. This isn't 1998 anymore, somebody tell M$ and lems that we are in 2013, they need to get with the times. Stop making excuses for M$ nickeling and dimming.

I would rather use rechargeable batteries. The power lasts longer then the PS3 controller and when I need to recharge the PS3 controller I need to stop gaming. I do not like sitting 3 feet from the TV while it charges since the cord is so dang short. When my 360 batteries need recharging it takes like 2 minutes tops since I just walk over to the drawer and pop in two batteries that are already charged.

you can get longer USB cables for less than $2 on the Internet, that's not a valid excuse to still be using AA batteries.

Will the batteries be Alkaline again? Please say yes. I would be pretty upset if I opened that box to find out they were only Heavy Duty.
