This "PS3 battery dies, and it kills the remote" conspiracy must be complete BS or it was some small batch of controllers that were defective. I have four controllers, one of them was included with a launch console, and the rest of them were bought separately over the years, all of them have been fully discharged at one time or another, and they all still work fine.

I'll say it again, I have a controller from launch that still works fine.

Also, I'm not one of the idiots out there who don't know how to use a screwdriver, so when the time comes (and it doesn't look like it's coming anytime soon) I'll replace the battery.

Plus I never tried this but I've heard many people say that Sony will send you a new battery for free, or you could just buy one yourself for $3.99 every 5-10 years, I've even seen them on ebay for $1.99.

I don't know why some of these people complain about cords, I bet their just like me, I've bought so many gadgets, computers, and peripherals over the years that I literally have a duffel bag stuffed, and I mean stuffed with just about any cord you can think of. I mean shit they even complain about system power yet the ps2 was by far the weakest 6th gen system, It was something on 5x weaker than the gamecube or the original xbox as shown with games that totally stomped the ps2 versions in performanc and graphics, thus showing that Power means shit when games are available.

 

I really don't understand why they continue to use them. It's very strange.

I'm sure they will, but you are currently the stupid sounding one, the controller lasts 24 hours and a longer cable will cost £1 (as opposed to £12 for a play and charge kit)

You do know that cables come in different lengths? I actually have a 12' and a 20' one next to me right now, plus if you don't want to run a cable to your console you can get an AC USB charger and connect it to that, lets say you have a couch with an end table next to it, you could use the AC USB charger to power a charging station, then sit the charging station on the end table....and voilà...you never need cables or have to charge a dead battery again.

By the way, the PS3's battery can last for quite some time, I play sometimes for 15-16-17 hours, then I plug it in and the next day it magically has power again. There are sometimes when I forget to charge it when I'm done, but the next day....it still works. I never timed how long it takes to discharge the battery, but considering how many people are under the false impression that you need to charge the battery every few hours, I might just time it, I guess I would have to make a time-lapse video also to prove it, I seriously doubt though that lems would even believe it if they were in the room next to it the whole time.

With that said I really doubt the DS4's battery life will be much different.

Was hoping that the X1 controller wouldnt require AA batteries since eventually I was planning on getting one to use for my PC..
