Sony's PS3 Disappointment Timeline Continued

Easily one of the better threads I've seen on Sony's behavior over the past year. Not only are they unapologetic in their arrogance, they can't hold onto games, and can't make systems to satisfy the dwindling demand.

If 2007 doesn't see a big turnaround for them, I can only pity early adopters who should have opted for the alternative experience which at the time and remains currently as far better.

Even if there are a few games I want on PS3, there's really nothing that's justifying spending that much money for a few games, it's highly outlandish.dokidokilove

Anyone without the mentality of a 3 year old, who wants everything at the moment, knows that the future is bright and is willing to wait for what should be an awesome year in 2007 for the PS3.

How about from E3 2001? I still love how Sony claimed the online system of the PS2 would allow instant messaging and streaming of media content from AOL and other companies. Ken Kutaragi, nicknamed the Father of the PlayStation, even claimed that the PlayStation 2 online network would be like, “jacking into the Matrix”.Stevo_the_gamer

Made me chuckle.  Will probably get a ps3, to compliment my Wii, if and when it comes down in price, but deffinately not getting those, so called, popular games.

2006-7, the launch years of a console, all fireworks, no substance.  There may be 325 games in/being developed, but the developers are creating games for a console that they don't even understand yet.  2008-9 are the years when sony's sleak number will shine.  Just like the big 3 (Xbox, Ps2 & GC), the games will get better regardless of console sales.  So, I propose a waiting game.  Anyone with me?

Of course the games will always get better, but why wait for great games when the games coming out next year will still be better than games ever seen or played before. And who says the best games come at the very end of a console? FF7 came at the very beginning of the PS1s lifespan. It would really suck if you end up missing out on some great games.

Sony Console Launch Plan

1. [The First Launch] Set a high price tag, and wow the RICH techheads with their new console idea (ps1-oooh look cds, ps2-oooh look DVD's ps3-oooh look BluRay) during the first few months.
2. Create a stock shortage, so few normal people can buy it.  Wait until more games are released. (they've got the demand, why supply until you're ready).
3. [The Second Launch] Restock, Drop the price, so normal people can and will buy it (Mmm, Eye Candy!)
4. Then, churn out all sorts of games, Big releases and all manner of crap ones with the amazing ones tucked away.
