High placed sources within the industry have already been tipping April as a more realistic launch window the for console. But a source has told CVG that a PS3 delay as far back as September 2007 is now far more likely, pointing the finger of delay at - yes you guessed it - "component shortages". And let's face it, you don't launch a console in summer.

It seems that you should be disappinted that 8 of the top ten PS3 games are on the 360, better on the 360, and were released first on the 360...  yet you seem satisfied.  So I am sure the 3% to 5% of people that had their 360's break were disappointed.  But at least they had 40 AA and AAA games to choose from before it broke...  and they'll still have those games after it's repaired for free and back in their hands two weeks later.  The other 95% to 97% are always pleased.

I guess if the PS3 breaks it doesn't matter much...  you don't have much to play on it anyway.

We all know Sony has been taking a lot of bad press from the PS3, but lets take a look back at the year that has lead us to the Nov. 17th release date.

First, we start with Sony itself. Yes, I was going to only make a timeline of the PS3 news, but how can you ignore this arrogance from late 2005?

Nov. 10th, 2005 - Sony is caught hiding a rootkit inside music CD's that place a virus on users computer. Sony's Tom Hesse defends the decision by stating that people don't know what it is, so they shouldn't care

Now that we know Sony cares about us, lets move on to the PS3...

Feb 27th, 2006 - Sony misses it's Spring launch date
May 8th, 2006 - Sony holds it's E3 conference announcing the pricing of the PS3 at $600/$500
May 8th, 2006 - New PS3 controller will have six degrees of motion, but no rumble feature. Sony's Phil Harrison states that rumble was last gen and no longer needed.
May 31st, 2006 - Sony's Phil Harrison denies copying the Wiimote and states that the PS3 will replace the PC
Sep 5th, 2006 - Gamers looking to get the best picture out of Sony's premium PlayStation 3 package will need to shell out extra for proper hookups.
Sept 6th, 2006 - PS3 is delayed in Europe until March 2007
Sept 6th, 2006 - PS3 launch shipment is cut from 2 million to 400,000 in the US (100,000 to Japan)

While it's not all of Sony's fault, they have done little to apologize for their delays and arrogant statements. It's a bad trend that they've started, and the more they continue the more we'll be seeing article after article on Gamespot.....day after day about something else they've done to flaw the PS3's image.

I'm sure I'm going to get a lot of flaming cow responses, but hey that's expected. I can understand their crankiness b/c I know I'd hate to be in their shoes atm. Hopefully Sony will have some sort of eye-opener to the amount of distaste they've started among gaming consumers, and will get back to what they used to do best.

Is Sony nuts?  I mean they like to over-promise and tell the occasional fub...  but an out-right lie that any sane human being can see?

So many of us have been to stores and have seen the PS3s on the shelves.  You read a story like this and you really have to laugh at tehir arrogance?  They truly think people are stupid.  Sony's game division does not know how to keep their proverbial feet out of their loud-ass mouths.

The real problem with the PS3 is that all the good games are associated with the Playstation (Grand Theft Auto, Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy) are owned by third party developers and has the potential to go multiplatform (see Virtual Fighter series). 

Xbox (Halo and PGR) are owned by MS

Nintendo (Mario and Zelda) are owned by Nintendo.

The thing about it though is that the PS3 is going to sell a lot more in the future, please no bashing, I'm trying to think about this logically:

If there are 100 million or so console gamers, then in another couple of years most of those 100 million people will own a next-gen console, probably PS3 or Xbox360 (the Wii will sell well, but that was designed for more non-console gamers such as a non-videogamer, or as a second system.) Now with the 360 only at 9 million or so and the PS3 at close th 1 million, that leaves about 90 million people to buy a console. So why hasn't the 360 and the PS3 sold more already, because people are waiting another year or so until the PS2 and XBOX are dead, and by then many new games will be out for both consoles. However, the PS3 probably will sell more because of games like FFXIII and MGS4 (whatever people say it is NOT coming to the 360, and that is not a fanboy quote, it is just stupid to think it will) The 360 does have some great killer Apps coming out such as Halo 3, but the games like FF and MGS are loved by the whole world, Halo is mostly American. Also, there has been talk about a Guitar Hero 3 for PS3, and if that is true, expect sales to go up skyhigh (I know people who are buying a PS2 nowadays just for GH)

Finally, another thing you are not taking into accont is that an average console gamer will not read up on any of this such as rumors that this is coming to the 360 or that the PS3 lost this exclusive, all they know is that SONY is a name brand that they trusted last gen and that came through for them, and that the games they really want such as MGS4 and FF ARE coming to the PS3, cause while we can pray it comes to the 360, that's all we have: HOPE while the PS3 DEFINATELY already has it coming

So yes, it might just be blind fanboy "follow Sony the God", but you can expect the PS3 sales to pick up A LOT over the next year
