I could say the same about Resistance 2, it doesnt look that much more impressive than the first one. Gears has advanced more technically than it has graphically IMHO. More enmies, better AI, more variaty can't be a bad thing for the game.

Personally I didn't much like the first one, and I'm not expecting this one to "Wow" me either, but they do seem to be going in the right direction for the series...I just don't like FPS for the most part though.

I think it looks better than MGS 4.

Textures, lighting and animation all look very excellent. At times I thought I was looking at a purely CG movie rather than gameplay and in-engine cinematics.

MGS 4 lends itself to a realistic looking art direction. The two are incomparable. MGS 4 will probably look dated in the future because of it though.

Not really. You can pollish a terd and it still looks *****y , MGS4 has more than 2 colours, has a decent enough draw distance and doesn't look like the land that flushing forgot.

If Gears 2 was taken out of its sweet spot of gritty brown and greyish graphics that are as easy as blinking to make look good, then you'd realise Unreal Engine is gonna struggle towards the end of of the generation with PS3's exclusives and ground-up make-shift engines doing better jobs with lightings and brighter games.

MGS4 goes for more a realistic look but will look out dated in near future? hmmm looks real but will be outdated lol. Sorry just had a brain cramp lol. But would someone seriously tell me how Geow stacks up to UTIII visually like basicially the same or just blows UTIII out of the water type of comparisons.
