It's going to score an 8.5 or 9.0 here, certainly not a 10. I just don't see Gears having the wow factor anymore to warrant a perfect. Its going to seem more like a rehash than you think, when its all said and done.

Amazing how the myth of MGS4's graphics grows. Don't get me wrong the game is nice but not teh best ever. A lot of posters really believe that it is.

Also, at least in Gears the Characters don't talk to us, like they know we are on the other side of the TV holding a hunk of plastic in our hands. And at least the dialogue isn't all cheezed up, with a side of cheeze in Gears.... MGS has ridiculous dialogue and voice acting... it's all just screams Cheezy B movie, which is fine, when thats what you are trying to do.... alas, this isn't the case with MGS.

You can tell MGS trys to come off as SUPER COOL & Intense.... and ends up sounding weak and lame.

oh and as for the MGS IV vs Gears thing that seems to have evolved in this thread...i would give Gears the nod on technical graphics for the SP and MP. But MGSIV's cutscenes and art design is much better than gears'

You know making comparisons between MGS4 and Geow 1 or 2 is just crazy. Granted both games are great and caters to 2 different types of gamers. But come on now with some of these made up achievements that Geow has.

1 Animations? Really as far as I've seen not even in same ball park as mgs4, maybe if your talking about that prerendered screen animation of the chainsaw move but other than that animations in geow in my mind aren't even there. Guys move like a hunk of coal and snap, nothing realisitic at all.

2. Linear, Geow is the pure definition of a linear enviroment and linear game, yes mgs4 is technically linear but so many different ways to approach a scenerio its just crazy, also after watching more and more footage of Geow1 and 2, leave KZ2 out of the linear game comments aswell lol.

3. 100's of enemies on the screen in geow? All I've seen is 2 gameplay showings of something like this, and the 1st one with the walker thing the guy shot down and his cross hairs didn't even show a target. The 2nd one was the latest gameplay footage and he shot out of a window at a group of them and then the building collapsed. If he wouldve jumped out of that window and met them head on and fought and could've killed all them let me know. Until then this is pure eye candy and nothing else, you aren't fighting or actually having 100s of enemy on the screen to kill.

4. Boss battles? I've been thinking of getting a 360 and prolly will and prolly will get geow1 and 2 but on Utube I watched some of the boss battles and what I seen was just lame. One the guy just rushed you, tumble and then mark him a couple times. One was a spyder, that just sat there while the guy took on smaller guys, while the spyder sat there and inflicted no harm on him, lame. And finally the main boss battle the guy rushed up to a rock and hid behind it with the main boss directly on the other side and stayed there the whole time until he was dead. Main boss never moved the player never moved from that spot lol. That just sad for a final boss battle.

5. Destructible enviroments? I must have missed something cause I haven't really seen any in geow. But I do remember the building getting blown to bits by raven, and getting hit by debris in mgs4.

6. Dialogue and voice acting? Geow isn't even in the same universe literally lol as mgs4. Some may have been hard for some of you to follow but don't blame the game lol. And some said it was to corny, well even the best movies and games has a lighter side and thats what makes them stand out ie. Half Life 2, Die hard, Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark and so on. And chk this out for dialogue

Bottom line is that mgs4 is the most polished game that I have ever had the privelige to play and that is why it is so great. Not only doing one thing great but everything great and wrapping it up into one game. Great graphics, great animations, great story, great voice acting, great dialogue, great cut scenes, great enviroment, great and memoriable boss battles, different locals and great emotional gameplay. And on and on and that is why it got a 10 and a well deserved 10. Only more and more devs would put that much time to polish a game, and if so this gen wouldn't be so stale.

MGS4 barley looks better then COD4 so Idk why cow's wana hype it like one of the best looking games ever.

And Im not a fan of gears 2 but there is a VERY notciable difference graphically between 1 & 2 cow's just need to take of their fanboy goggles.

GeOW 2 looks slightly better than GeOW. The graphical difference between a 1st gen Xbox 360 game and a current game are not that big. The graphical difference between a 1st gen SNES game and later SNES games are like night and day. Donkey Kong Country was a HUGE graphical improvement over Super Mario World. I guess my point is that as graphics get more sophisticated, it will get more and more difficult to see graphical upgrades during the course of a console generation. AvIdGaMeR444

And by what I just read then they are comparable right? Now the question is why don't cows ever mention UTIII when talking about graphics in games, it is literally never mention, NEVER. I for one would never put UTIII as a graphic power house or even in the same sentence as mgs4, drakes fortune, GTp, or KZ2. I've got utIII and to me it is nothing special at all, the beginning cutscene is pretty sweet, but not actuall gameplay graphics. Unless the word technical just means textures. And thats why people love to say the technical side of geow is more impressive lol.

I had a guy at work tell me that UTIII and Geow were pretty much the same, and I said if so then I don't know what all the hype is about then.

Welcome to system wars. People want the "graphics king" to be exclusive to their system. Unreal Tournament 3 actually is the graphics king now but people don't want to admit it because it is a multi-plat.
