If it took no skill then the topic creator would be good at console shooters. Listen man, don't try to argue with me- you'll lose every single time.

i love the pc fps as well as console fps and i do like a keyboard and mouse more. however, i love halo 3 and got used to the control scheme from halo 2 and it definitely takes alot of getting used to. I think you guys who dont like the control scheme are just getting ur asses kicked and are getting frustrated.

I'm not saying it doesn't take skill to play with a console shooter, quite the opposite, but the skill is not worth learning to me because the frustration of using a controller that was not designed for the game you are playing.

I guess it would take skill to play Street Fighter with a racing wheel too, but who would want to take the time?

[QUOTE="dipper145"]aiming is just wayyy to easy on pc games.Bballer101

which is why they have sights sway in many PC games, and realistic recoil effects.....

features which arent very common in console games.

It's quite amusing how he says that aiming is too easy in PC games, when console shooters have auto-aim, sticky aim and other helpers, and in PC games these things are essentially referred to as aimbots.

lol i agree in halo 3 my sniper target doesnt have to be on the target's head.i just drag the crosshairacross the screen n pull the trigger n i get boom headshot.

And Halo 3 actually has less sticky aim than most other console shooters. That's what I'm talking about though, like your example. Nobody can possibly tell me that takes more skill than actually putting your crosshair directly on someone's skull and shooting from long distance, especially when they're moving.

Yet millions of people have absolutely no problems playing FPS games with analog controllers and no one's playing Street Fighter with a racing wheel. Hmmm. I'll be damned.

I love FPS on PC, but c'mon its a controller, not rocket science.

You mean to tell me you can't figure what takes a small level hand-eye coordination to make analog controls work? Weaksauce indeed...

Bro, I'm still like 3rd or 2nd in the room on COD4, not like I'm some sort of bottom feeder. I have a 1.38 K/D ratio, and only after 3 days, so I can tell you, the vast amount of people who play FPSers on consoles suck at them are are doing so because either they don't know what else is out there or they can't afford a gaming PC.

I just don't feel like I'm in control like I do when I play the PC, and neither would you if you played PC FPSers. I basically am forced to huddle in a corner and take potshots at guys who come through the door, gather up 5 kills, call an airstrike and call the chopper after the airstrike. Bam, 2nd in the room. Not alot of skill in that besides camping.

But I know I'll never get to the level that #1 guy because I don't feel like metaphorically casting a RYU fireball by pulling a 90 degree turn on my racing wheel and stepping on the gas.

The reason you sucked playing a FPS on consoles is not the controller. Its because your not use to it. If your usually a PC gamer and go and play some console FPS of course you won't be able to get the grip of the controller. Same thing with if a console gamer who hardly plays PC FPS games went and played Unreal Tournament or something.

Shadow2k6

Still, the console player would have an easier time with the M/KB. It's really not difficult. Aiming with a stick takes more practice.

I chose to quit playing PC FPS because I prefer the controller over KB/M. It's much more comfortable. Sure, I could be more precise with a mouse, but I don't care - I'm playing to have fun.

On what, my knee? The arm of the chair? Wow, you've suggested a device that requires a flat, broad surface, to be used in a position that offers absolutely none! What an insightful suggestion!

Whose arrogant? I frickin own a Xbox360 . I have Forza and the Logitech wheel, and the experience is perfect. I have countless fighting games and the Hori EX2 stick....flawless. Madden '08 and NBA2k8 on the basic controller, couldn't be happier....but any sort of FPSer on ANY console controller just feels clumsy and unnatural. Same as RTS games on a console controller, just not right. MS and Sony need to get with the program and make some sort of controller that emulates a mouse and keyboard. Mouse plus a pressure sensitive button pad with rumble built in would own a M&K, and yet it hasn't been made.

I've played UT online so I know, I don't really have a problem with kb/m. I know someone who is a straight console gamer whos pretty good at most FPS console games and one day I made him play Unreal and he couldn't even get 2 kills.

If you want a natural FPS experience go with the wii, but that doesn't mean it's the best way to play for fun.

In never have any trouble but I'm a veteran from the Goldeneye multiplayer days. FPS on consoles control much better these days. Doom was the first FPS I played but Goldeneye and Halo were the ones that made me like the genre. Deus Ex too but that takes nothing away from the console shooters because it wasn't really the shooting in Deus Ex that made it so great.

depends on the players skill

Both with equal time invested. I really don't think it would be close. I can pull off maneuvers on a M&K that would be literally impossible with a console controller. A jump hop 180 crouch that ends in a headshot is not unheard of in a PC shooter, but how could you even do that with a controller? You couldn't. Either you turn the sensitivity up all the way to pull off the quick 180, but then your crosshairs are completely unmanagable when trying to aim. There is no between. In PC, you get everything, you get the precision of a user controlled crosshair, and the ability to make quick turns with a quick move of your wrist.

I find that I have to turn my sensitivity down all the way to low just to keep the crosshairs from bobbing all over the place when I aim. And then because of the low sensitivity I make slow turns in the game like my character is baked out of his mind. It's just unnatural.

I've hardly ever had problems with well formatted controls on consoles. In fact, it's quite comfortable. Vegas is a good example.

It's called skill. It's not the game's fault you aren't good at it.

Kaosed

Pushing buttons doesn't take skill.

try sniping some1 5 yards away with the sniper while being atacked and bombarded,

you just made it to my sig

doesn't take to much skill buddy. actually doing something like football, soccer that kinda stuff takes skill.

Here is an honest question to everyone here:

Do you HONESTLY believe that if you were to play Halo with your controller against someone on PC using a mouse and keyboard, that you could beat them?

They're also crippled by a lack of real sensitivity settings. Almost every console shooter only has one sensitivity setting, not seperate ones for pitch and yaw, and it usually only goes up and down by 1 as opposed to decimals or even just .5. They should allow you a lot more sensitivity control and then analog wouldn't be nearly as bad. Still nowhere near kb/m, though.

Could you do that in real life.... no

That's why consoles are better, more realistic. :D

[QUOTE="flatline711"]I've noticed something. Most Hermits sound like stuck up arrogant pricks, Sheep sound really laid back, Lemmings sound like they live and die by System Wars and Cows sound delusional.NEILMEHTA

If you want a natural FPS experience go with the wii, but that doesn't mean it's the best way to play for fun.

I dunno. I'm pretty fast with dual-analog. ~_~

Yes, a soldier could spin around instantly and shoot someone. I'm not even professionally trained, but I could pivot turn, use my natural point of aim, and, if you were within 10 feet of me and I had my Glock 30 already in my hand, you would be a dead man. Oddly enough, my character in COD4 is a trained SAS soldier, and he cannot do even what my wife is fully capable of.
