south park: stick of truth is gonna get slammed by gamespot

I'm just worried the game won't be funny. The show hasn't been funny in ages.

According to people on GAF it's joke after joke with some literal laugh out loud moments. But if you don't enjoy the show lately then it will likely fall flat as the game is practically just an 8 hour long episode

That's playtime only I should add, not counting cutscenes. But another guy said he took his time and got about 13 hours out of it.

People shouldn't be expecting a super long drawn out, deep RPG anyway. It was never going to be that. I'm fine with a shorter game as long as it's focused, consistent and good. I'd rather 8-13 concise hours over 20-30 padded out with shitty side quests

8 hours with cutscenes, however, would not be alright for me.

And yeah, I get your point, I'd rather have 1 great hour of game than 20 padded hours. But if it's a really short game compared to other games in the genre I'm not going to pay full price and would rather get any other game of the same genre. Not talking about South Park in this case, I'm talking about consumer logic.

Of course there are limitations where it's just taking the piss. But I feel it's still going to good and will feel long. People have remarked that they felt like they had played a LOT longer than it said and that's what a good game does. They've also said it's very consistent in it's story and dialogue and you couldn't really ask for more in a game like this

People should be wary though that the gameplay mechanics aren't very deep or detailed and some people hit the level cap in the game hours before finishing it or their HP max just suddenly increased due to progression without really telling the person. I don't think it's gonna be a proper RPG like many think it will but should be fun nonetheless

I heard it was gonna get slammed in kotaku as well. I think jason is reviewing it. I also heard its a 10-20 hr RPG. That's a big problem. RPGs should not be that short.

Stay away from Tumblr then. If you thought Carolyn's review of GTAV was dumb, then you would not believe the stupid shit people say on that Web site. There was actually a huge controversy about BioShock: Infinite being "racist" on there. They've also done nothing but bitch and moan about Frozen being a racist movie.

There's one simple clue that the game isn't going to get great scores -- the review embargo lifts sixty seconds after the game is released. That's almost always are surefire way to tell the developers know they're not releasing a spectacular game.

That said, I don't really care. I just want to explore South Park.

To OP: Kevin V. has almost never been a "social justice warrior" in any of his reviews. Don't know where you're getting that from.

Apparently the white knights think they should be darker or asian looking in the 1800s, but even that seems to be false. The sami people don't seem to have an issue with the character's color, and it's just a few of them that have issue with how the culture is represented. The freaking movie is going to be shown at a Sami Film festival. Stupid people being over sensitive about every little thing

Also some guy broke embargo on youtube like an A-hole. He had about 7 parts of the game uploaded as recently as 3 hours ago. Ubisoft contacted him and he had to take them all down.

Guys like him ruin the whole early copy embargo stuff
