[QUOTE="supermechakirby"][QUOTE="Blackbond"]The Covenant has but one option to win. Stay the hell in space and bombard every planet until the Pirates are destroyed. Should this fight get to the ground The Covenant simply gets massacred.

The Covenant better stay in their ships or else they're finished. The versatility and technology of the space pirates isn't going to be beaten by Covenant ground troops.kittykatz5k
how much of this stuff are you taking from the Prime series?
sorry but Prime is not cannon in the metroid universe to me
Oh no, mecha thinks prime is a bad game, how dare you include enemies like the awesome omega pirate while he thinks it's not a good game :O
Gunpei dies in 97, he is the father of Metroid, if shigeru died and some other dev picked up the mario series and started putting in their own crap would you belive that to be cannon?
prime is just retro's FPS skinned in Metroid
All the listed games are cannon and in order:
Metroid
Metroid II
Super Metroid (III)
Metroid Fusion (IV)
0starter0
fixed
Im iffy on fusion, but what Gunpei made is canon

Controls like an fps, plays barley anything like one :|
Besides,he was just a producer onthe orignial metroid. The director, you know, the one who's important to most of the gameis not dead.
there seams to be alot of misconception about the numbers of the space pirates.
they not only look like bugs they also have a comparable reproduction rate. they seed worlds with colony's and turn the whole planet into a reproduction facility strip mining and destroying all resources. an elite could kill a fodder unite just as easily as a federation trooper (so about equal in strength). so the federation and samus (employed by them) for that matter don't even bother striking at the worlds lost only top tier research facility's that are small to avoid attention and worlds they are attempting to seed.
you see they are not called space pirates because they raid the occasional cruiser for bootie they are called space pirates because they can shanghai entire star systems.
also they are similar to the Covenent as the do have multiple races within them. I forget the names of ridly kraid and mother brains races, but the whole of their race is involved.
btw i admire the elites and wish to advocate the spiritual civil war they have started in halo3.

yea thats why there wasnt a single metroid after SM, until they found a studio to do it...
Gunpei is to Metroid what Shigeru is to Mario and Zelda, same thing with Sakaguchi

Its proven canon man. Stop living in denial.

Ther are 2 thigns I hate in this world hat really boils my blood:
1. People who play games down to such a science that the game is not even fun
2. People who insist any change over time or throughhistoryis a horrible thing
"Prior to the release of Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance, every game in the series was accepted as canon, with the original versions of certain games (such as the original Castlevania and Dracula X) usually accepted as the canonical interpretation of certain events. This was assumed even though there was no official unified direction to the series's storyline (other than conflicts against Dracula). However, when Koji Igarashi took over as producer for the series, he revised the timeline and removed the following games from it: Castlevania Legends, Castlevania 64, Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness and Castlevania: Circle of the Moon. According to an interview later conducted with 1UP.com, the only game he deliberately retconned was Castlevania Legends, whereas the other games were produced to be side-stories from the start."
Yeah a new producer revises the Castlevania timeline, removes games from it, and continues the series. But since Metroid's original creator is no long there all everything after him isn't canon? Sorry man. You are wrong.

t2wave
yeah but according to trace's backstory the kriken race is worse than that times ten thousand. but they are even more of fodder troops because the rely on their generic might instead of assimilating others technology.
I really hope the go in-depth with all the new races in the next continuation of the series.
That would be epic.
Gotta give the nod to the Space Pirates though, they've god Ridley and Kraid.
As well as some very scary characters we've seen in boss battles.
The thing about including Metroid Prime Space Pirate innovations is that a lot of the stuff created by Space Pirates is destroyed by Samus over the course of the game. Omega Pirate is killed. Thardus is killed. I have no idea as to whether the Pirates were able to communicate their game-specific innovations out to the remainder of the pirates. If Super Metroid is any indication, a lot of that technology is lost after the Prime games. This would significantly weaken Space Pirate ground forces. sonicmj1
The Pirates weren't even that evident of a force in Metroid Fusion. Maybe they died down, maybe their regrouping, who knows? But I do know what the sequel will be about. Remember when you dropped that Metroid breeding ground on that planet/colony or whatever. Come on you know that those metroids didn't all die from the atmosphere :P
Space Pirates are fewer i number but alot more advanced. The only thing they dont have is the overshield, but the super thick armor most of them wear is good enough. The space Pirates are always using things like phazon to power up there guys, the covenat have numbers, but lack innovation.bigcalkenobi
Um Omega Pirate absorbs all energy weapons man :|
Who the hell needs shields when you have that? Not to mention that they have those guys who are only affected by certain beam weapons. They'd be completely impervious to Covenant Energy Weapons.

well the answer to that is easy the federation found rs233 , and the research station you're in is well in federation protected space.
also i have a theorie about the space pirates transportation they must travel in self sustained colony ships to new planets because the lack the resourses for individual fighters to an effective level for their numbers (plus drop ships of course). meaning a federation cruiser could probably Punch a whole in it pretty easy taking out extremely high numbers of them easily. the federation probably has a defence grid just for that purpose.
Just take the Space Pirates that can cloak and send them off covert operations and the Covenant would suffer massive losses. Like-wise the "Ninja Pirates" in Super Metriod that can deflect weapons fire and missles and only have brief periods of vunerablity which could carve up a lot of troops before being taken out.
The main weakness of the Omega Pirate more than anything is that he can't really be deployed in a wide area due to chemical dependancy, and the odds of producing one are very low.
[QUOTE="astiop"]The covies would cream them.gamefan67
Omega Pirate thinks differently:P
QFT
Anyone who fought the Omega pirate in MP3 would know who would win. That thing would through brutes around like they were toys.
The Omega pirate and Ridley would far outcalss anything the covenant could send so the Space pirates would win.
The covenant would easily destroy the disorganized pirates.Gh0st_Of_0nyx
Although I pick Covenant because of sheer numbers, what in the hell are you talking about? Disorganized Space Pirates? Um they are highly disciplined and highly coordinated unlike the Covenant who have had Brutes vs Elites, Heretics, False Prophets and a Civil War.
Calling the Space Pirates disorganized is seriously as false of a statement as you could make in regards to the topic.
The Covenant would win, simply because they would commit mass suicide by activating the rings.
The Flood, however, are a lot stronger, as anything organic other than the zerg pretty much loses. They can infect entire planets with one spore, simply by releasing an oxidizing poison that slowly infects organics.
I hate these types of Topics.... because no one trys to work out a logical answer.
You might as well call this thread "What do you like better Metroid or Halo"?
Obviously the Covenant would win.
Covenant have enough forces to battle 2 entire races... Space Pirates have enough forces to battle 1 chick with a super suit...
Think of all the vehicles and spaceships and what not the Covenant command.... What do the Space Pirates have? Nothing on the scale of what the Covenant do, thats for sure.
One guy in this thread stated "Space pirates would win because they take more shots to kill" ummm..... WHAT? If I shoot a Bumble Bee with a water pistol 100 times to kill it. And shoot a deer twice with a rifle.... then by his reasoning, the Bumble Bee could kill the Deer?

The Covenant fought off two races?
They had to basically split apart and partially alliance with humanity just to fight off the Flood, and even then, their homeworld was devestated and the Flood was cutting through their fleets and the human's at the same time.
Then again, the Flood are ridiculously overpowered.
Pirates would win. In fact the Metroid Universe>>>>>>>>The Halo Universeharry2k5
Wow.... don't join the debate team, unless you like losing.

Well after Halo2, the Elites broke away from the Covenant and joined forces with the Humans.... so yeah 2 races! The covenant still had the strength to fight even after a large part of their forces changed allies.
