well I won't argue with you about the amount of content. However COD or battlefield don't have extensive spm. AW is about 5-7 hours, Battlefield 4 is about the same amount of time to complete.
However the content in there is excellent and it is going to get more content.
Give me a small amount of content that is excellent that I can play over and over again, over worthless content just for the sake of adding content.
I don't have the patience to complete games like the witcher 3 with a 100+ hour campaign.
Extensive spm? I mean, they're about as long as Splatoon, and the only way to make the Splatoon single player somewhat interesting for a 2nd run is to buy the Amiibo that has DLC locked into it.
I think the content in Advanced Warfare is solid all around. It is possible to do deliver both quality and quantity. Ninty opted to just go for quality.
Great. I'm enjoying TW3, and it's packed with content that, so far, has been worth it.
Well there you go. I enjoyed playing Battlefield 4's campaign (no idea how long Hardlines campaign is) but Advanced Warfare's campaign felt like a chore for me to play, and I couldn't play online because I don't have PS+.
Splatoon's campaign feels fresh and the last boss battle is by far the best final boss battle I have ever experienced.
Glad to hear it because TW3 has both content and quality according to reviews. Unfortunately I have played an hour or so thanks to Splatoon being far more enjoyable IMO.
@wiiboxstation: Splatoon > Witcher 3. I stopped playing Witcher 3, and all other games since Splatoon launched now.
Its just too much damn fun. I have trouble setting it down. I'm in for the long haul on this game and look forward to seeing what else this gem has in store for the future.

Let's hope the community stays as active as the MK8 one!
@ultimateimp: yep same here. On my second playthrough of the single player mode and have also played the inkling boy amiibo dlc. Then there's the online play. Addictive game!
Even after being practically maxed out, getting a high rank in ranked mode, and having the freshest stuff I could find, I still have fun playing this game. Every once in a while I buy stuff from the stores to level up but I don't do it just to find something to do. I just like seeing sub perks show up.
Some people may not like that they don't have any more bars to fill, or the map limitation every 4 hours but honestly I have no problems with that stuff. The only time I didn't like the map rotation in general is when I didn't know how Port Mackerel played out, and I kept getting that stage. Now it's no issue and its gotten a lot more manageable.
Both Smash and Kart are built to be addictive as well, but they are far from it compared to this imo.
Played for the first time last night and I couldn't put it down! Most fun I've had with an online shooter since Unreal Tournament. Feels really fresh, love the control scheme too. I'll be playing this a lot! Well done Nintendo.
I think if they held out on the release and put it out later with more content they would easily be in the 90 range on Metacritic.
@bulby_g: yeah probably so. However for the games longevity the way they have done it is the best way.

Oh yeah, definitely. Keeps people logging in to see what's new. Hopefully there will be a lot of new free content and even a large, paid DLC pack or two by early 2016. I don't often buy DLC but I'd pay for a substantial Splatoon pack.
@bulby_g: Agreed, we need more bosses like that final boss. Those were some busy, but awesome shooting sequences. The rest of the bosses were bleh.
We should all exchange NNID's so we can play together! Playing with randoms is pretty lame.

This game is is friggin' AMAZING!
No matter what anyone else says, this game is the real deal. Even without voice chat and it's small selection of modes and maps, it is easily one of the most fun and addictive shooters I've ever played.
@jg4xchamp: i can't hear you over Splatoon's eight.
@jg4xchamp: eight. Eat it.
Sounds like a quality early access game :]
lol at least you're admitting its quality.
Why am I the only that seems to realize there is shit that needs to be painted near the base?
lol! I'm always the guy running around the base first. I lost because we didn't paint near the base and its a mistake I'll never let happen again.
@GameboyTroy: Been wanting to try that weapon ever since they show cased it in all those promotions prelaunch.
Sounds like a quality early access game :]
lol at least you're admitting its quality.
It's not admittance when he never denied it. It's no secret, he said that it's going to have nice gameplay over 500 posts ago. Bread is just being childish and still hung up on the fact that jg4xchamp said it's an early access game.
Had a bunch of crappy matches in ranked yesterday. Got pretty frustrated doing so badly myself. Didn't help that I was constantly on the losing team so I dropped a rank, which is annoying since high rank isn't easy to come by. You can only do so much yourself especially when everyone is fairly competent, so it comes down to the team. Voice chat might help, but I think locking down areas tends to be the name of the game, which is normally done by just having superior positioning and being patient.
@AznbkdX: No kidding, once a team controls the zones the first time it's basically over for your team as it's almost impossible to make a good comeback.
@PikminWorld: almost, but completely possible.
It happened to my team.
Over took their side, had about 80% on board. 30 secs left. Someone killed 3 of us. Rollers went to work. We lost.
@LegatoSkyheart: It does happen for sure, but it just wasn't working out for us. Usually its a complete roll for them or us. Sadly it was normally us for the matches I was in yesterday.
Mind you this is high rank, so A level or at least B+. When you are fighting at C level they tend to not know the nuances of it as much.

I understand you corporate slaves love being stupid, but I never denied that the game mechanics were going to be an issue or the game couldn't be quality. 9 times out of 10 Nintendo makes a game worth playing, it's actually rare when they make something below average, if anything I doubted the single player, but anyone pretending that this game isn't beneath the standard of what the average multiplayer shooter gets is an ignorant moron. You idiots unfortunately can't argue against facts, so I must be a hater for dealing with facts.
But for one more round I'll share facts
That is doing less than a game from 2004, and unlike an 8 which is another human beings opinion, my picture is a cold hard fact. A truth, a reality, a certainty, a permanence. And you people made excuses for it, when you know damn well you'll be first ones in line to bitch when another shooter decides to DLC scam you or release with something less than expected. Hell yah don't even acknolwedge that the amiibo dlc connected to this game is bullshit. But that's what happens when you're a corporate slave.
But I wait whatever excuses you all make to yourselves to tell me that I'm wrong about something that is blatantly true.
It's okay though you enjoy the game now, I'll buy it in August when it's actually finished.
@jg4xchamp: It will be getting more maps.
Proving my point. They released the game in may, when the game will actually have all its content in August. Spin this anyway you want, make whatever excuse you want, make whatever apology you want, pretend you don't need it, be honest and say you don't need it, be preachy while you're at it, no amount of that will add up to anything I said being anything other than the God's honest truth. The early access part is the only thing that is debateable, and even that is loose at this point, but the part where that game released with less content than the average multiplayer shooter of the modern era, and that game released with less content in 2015 than Halo 2 did in 2004, and that game in 2004 just happens to be the template for what Xbox Live is today, is all fact, not opinion, not up for debate, not up for excuses, a reality you must all accept.
And unlike "lol8", it is a fact across the board. The 8? That's just someone else's opinion, the only fact you gained is that Peter Brown (or whatever his name is) thinks it's good.
@jg4xchamp:
Splatoon and Halo are for two different crowds. Halo is geared towards teens and adults. Whereas Splatoon is targeted towards all demographics including kids. The mere fact that Splatoon is about paintball shooting says a lot.
Can't really compare the two as they are two different genre of games that are targeted towards different demographics.

They are both shooters, they both have multiplayer, and one simply offers less.
Are you telling me that
Kids wouldn't like to speak to their friends?
Kids wouldn't like to be gauranteed to be on the same team as their friends
Kids don't want to do custom games and private lobbies?
Kids wouldn't appreciate have more than 1, 2 modes?
Kids wouldn't appreciate having more than 5 maps on launch?
Beyond you're telling me that an adult will not be playing this game? Because I am willing to go out on a limb that the people digging up all these excuses against Champ happen to be adults of some kind. Trust me, I am surprised as much as you are that they are adults, but unfortunately they are grown ass men acting like 1+1 isn't 2. It's a sad reality, but it is what it is. Kids aren't any less entitled to getting a better game, a more complete game, and content that is up to a standard. I don't usually judge my games by gameplay per square inch (trust me I'd rather have a 5 hour game that is excellent, than a 50 hour game that wastes my time), but facts are what they are. This game does less than the average multiplayer action game and does less than a game from 2004 that I played while I was in high school.
It is stupidity displayed in this thread and presented against cold hard facts and truth, that has kept me coming back at this point, because only by stupid corporate slave logic is the guy who is telling the truth about everything the villain of the story. I mean you decided not to give me a "lolbullshit", please tell me where I am being incorrect.
@helwa1988: What you're saying doesn't make sense. By your reckoning, Splatoon's demographics includes kids, and Halo's doesn't. So that discludes it from having content included in online shooters from 2004 onwards? Why?
Only if that content was inherently adult in nature, but how are more game modes and sensitivity options adult? How is even optional voice chat (which could be hidden behind parental controls easily) inherently adult?
Wish this 4 hour map rotation would just go.
Haven't been able to play the new map yet. Seriously, don't do this shit to begin with, and definitely don't do it when you've got a mere 6 maps in the mix.

Always remember LTO, plenty of plebs on this forum pretend they are elitist, Champ is the only actual elitist. Remember this fact.

Don't gotta remind me. Champ beatdown is best beatdown.

I think the four hour map rotation is okay, but I do not like playing on the same map 5+ times in a row. You kinda have to get lucky with the map rotations to play the new map. I think it will be easier to play on the new map and the other new maps that will eventually come once the map choices increase from 2 every 4 hour to 3 every four hours.
Splatoon looks cool and all but I find it hilarious that this game has got nothing but praise while a game like evolve got consistently shit on despite offering more than what Splatoon offers now.
Some people just really couldn't get into the multiplayer without understanding the struggle of the monster you know. Gotta know the monster's hopes, dreams, religious beliefs, and what motivates him to show up to work every day you know?
Plus? Putting gameplay content behind a stupid toy is one thing, but putting cosmetic dlc up day 1? That's terrorism, namasayin Emanuel?

It's what stops me playing it. Just the same maps over and over again. I like the paintbrush though. That's fun.
@DocSanchez:
Splatoon is for everyone. My point is that you can't have the same community you have with Halo with Splatoon. Playing Halo or any game with voice chat imakes you question humanity. The stuff people say isn't appropriate for kids. And again people don't want their kids talking to random strangers . I know I wouldn't.
Wish this 4 hour map rotation would just go.

Now I just play for an hour or two and take big breaks. I'm still bewildered that people have been level 20 for so long now. Played for like six hours straight one night. That can't be too healthy. Feel like I'm gonna burn out if I play too often for too long.

I don't think I've played this game for one hour straight lol. Except for campaign. I just hit lvl 10.
