Splinter Cell Conviction on PS3? Never, says Ubi

If you were holding out for Splinter Cell Conviction to eventually make its way to PS3, you're out of luck. Ubi just said on itsforumsthat it really is an MS exclusive thanks to a "link of heart" between the franchise and the platform.

"Splinter Cell Conviction is a true Microsoft exclusive title and there are no plans to have Splinter Cell Conviction on other platforms," said the company.

"There are several reasons behind this choice. First of all, Splinter Cell games are historically linked with Microsoft platforms. The first Splinter Cell on the original Xbox was one of the first games to fully exploit the console's technical possibilities. At that time, Microsoft really believed in the game potential and provided strong support to promote it. So, there is a "link of heart" between the franchise and the platform. Some games are like this (think of Final Fantasy for instance).

"The second reason behind this choice is purely linked to production. Having a single target platform means that we can optimize the game even further, because we only have one type of - console - hardware to support."

It's out at the end of this year. Assuming you're not solely reliant on PS3, obviously.

That would make sense if a Splinter Cell game wasn't already on a PS console.

No problem here. Ill get it for the 360 day one

it feels good to have more then one system.

Well thats interesting I guess. Still I doubt it will stay that way as I think pretty much every SC game has eventually made its way on to the PS platforms later down the line,so I don't see why this one would be different.

lol that didn't stop it going to the 360. we'll see as ubisoft seem like the multiplat everything type publisher.

i think this will be more of a timed exclusive, although being on both 360 and pc might mean it could sell well, so they might not bother. it will all come down to sales really.

either way i'm getting this game, not sure whether for 360 or pc yet.

It probably will end up on PS3, but I would like Ubi to stick to their word :lol:

What do PS3 owners care, they've all got mega computers from the future that can run everything at max settings and 240 FPS. With 3 screens so they can play 3 times the X360 games than you ever can.

It'll eventually happen but i really don't see whats so special about this game.

i was making the point, that sometimes, games actually stay exclusive to PC/360, cows do it deliberately to stop us adding those games to the 360 vs ps3 libray arguments, that's the only reason they do it,loldelta3074

It will come to the PS3 eventually (if PS3 is still a viable platform in 2 years.) But like all other Splinter Cell games, it won't look or play as well on the PlayStation platform.
